Hiten Tejwani was born and brought up in Mumbai. He was always passionate about acting. He started his acting career by performing in the ''Ankur Theatre Group'' and went onto act in various street plays. He faced the camera for the first time in the serial ''Ghar Ek Mandir'' which was aired on Sony Entertainment Television. This was followed by ''Kabhie Sautan Kabhie Saheli'' and ''Kahiin Kisi Roz. The central character of Pratham in ''Kutumb'' for Balaji Telefilms turned out to be a winning role for him. After Kutumb, he was seen in the popular show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as Karan Virani.
Personal life
Hiten was born and brought up in the suburbs of Mumbai, Borivili. He is one of three siblings. His brothers Hitesh and Nitin Tejwani are also part of the Indian Television industry, Hitesh is a director(having directed shows like Kyunki saas bhi bahu thi and Ek Ladki Anjaani Si) whilst Nitin is an editor. Hiten is a Graduate in Commerce from Jai Hind College, he was pursuing a career in Chartered Accountancy till he joined a theatre group, Ankur and has been part of many street plays. Thereafter he became a model doing various advertisements. His first break into the television industry began with small roles in Ghar Ek Manir and Kabhi Sauten Kabhi Saheli) until he was offered the main lead in Kutumb in 2001.
He married his on-screen co-star Gauri Pradhan Tejwani on 29 April 2004 whom he met in Hyderabad while doing an advertisement of Breeze Soap. Coincidently the two were cast as the lead pair of the television drama Kutumb. The show went on to garner high ratings during its first season and was renewed for a second season albeit a revamped version. Though the second version, Kutumb 2 did not fare well in terms of ratings, the two became a couple whilst shooting. The pair went to do shows such as Kya Haadsa Kya Haqueeqat together and soon after Gauri was cast in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bah Thi alongside Hiten in 2004. On 29th April 2004, the two got married in a private ceremony in Pune, Maharastra. The two have since appeared on reality shows such as the second season of Nach Baliye. His wife delivered twins, a boy and a girl, named Nevaan and Katya on 11 November 2009
