"Homeland" triumphs as Emmys go for dose of realit

Homeland ended the four-year run of Mad Men to win the very best drama prize in the Primetime Emmy awards on Sunday, while Modern Family reigned for any third year because the best comedy series on tv.

Homeland, a post 9/11 psychological thriller, won best drama after one season on cable channel Showtime.

Additionally, it took home trophies for the best writing and best acting because of its two leads, Claire Danes and Damian Lewis.

Homeland delivered to an end the reign of AMC's stylish 1960s advertising show Mad Men, which left Sunday's Emmy ceremony empty-handed.
