Salman Khan Biography
One thought, and with reason enough, that Salman Khan had only biceps and some stylish hops to offer to Bollywood.
The notion changed with time. Salman had acting cells in him as well. After all, he also was one with film lineage. Salman's father Salim is a renowned scriptwriter. And stepmom Helen leaves an indelible mark in Hindi films as the sensuous epitome of a cinematic diva.
Initially, Salman had only B-grade films that did mediocre business. The actor came of age with Sooraj Barjatya's Maine Pyar Kiya. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun's phenomenal success established Salman as one of the formidable Khan trio.
Today he is a sought after hero, working with almost all top banners. On the personal front, Khan had lovely ladies as his women. Salman's love story began with Sangeeta Bijlani and at the moment is on a halt with the ex-Miss World and Bollywood's current leading lady Aishwarya Rai.
Bollywood rocks Atlantic City

A host of Bollywood stars performed at the Rockstars concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Saturday.
According to Ali Morani, one of the organizers of the event, the first show, held in Houston last week, was "simply outstanding and a super success".

Salman Khan , John Abraham , Mallika Sherawat , Zayed Khan , Esha Deol , Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur are some of the Bollywood stars performing at the Rockstars concerts.
On Saturday, the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City was filled to capacity with an enthusiastic crowd consisting mainly of Indian-Americans and some Americans, too. The most applauded star of the evening was Salman Khan who performed with almost all the other stars in the show. He matched his muscle strength with John Abraham, shared a song with Kareena and performed with the likes of Zayed and Esha.
By the way, Salman's girlfriend Katrina Kaif was sitting in the audience.
Mallika Sherawat performed a sizzling number with Zayed Khan. The lady's toned-up rack must have popped a couple of eyes in the audiences.
The evening also saw performances by Kareena and Shahid. The chemistry between the two stars may not have been visible in their latest Bollywood release 36 China Town , but Shahid and Kareena did groove in onstage at the Rockstars.
A media report quotes Kareena as saying: "It was quite unreal – the reaction of the crowd. The girls were going mad with Shahid's good looks…it was unreal. I was ecstatic. I am glad that I met my fans."
Kareena is in the US after a long gap of four years and she is hoping to make the best of this trip to catch up on her fans in that part of the world.
Rockstars concert will move on to other American cities in the coming days.

Charges to reframed in the black buck poaching case

A court in Jodhpur on Monday ordered the personal appearance on May 19 of Salman Khan , Saif Ali Khan , Neelam , Tabu and Sonali Bendre in the black buck poaching case.
While ordering the personal appearance of the film stars, the District Judicial Magistrate, Jodhpur, has directed to reframe the charges against them in connection with the poaching of two endangered black bucks in Kanakani village in 1998.

Recently, the Additional District and Session Judge No.3 has ordered the dropping of some charges framed by the lower court against these film stars while partially allowing the revision petitions filed on behalf of Salman and others.
Counsels for Salman and other celebrities urged the court to fix the date of reframing the charges after May 14, since Salman is touring abroad these days.
They told the court that appeal filed by Salman against his conviction in two different poaching cases is pending in the court and on May 19 he will be present in the court of District and Sessions Judge for the hearing and this date will be convenient for him and others.
Shahrukh favourite over Salman, Rani favourite over Ash

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan won the favourite hero title over Salman Khan by a narrow margin at the Star Gold's 'Sabsey Favourite Kaun 2006' awards in Mumbai on Sunday.
Rani Mukherjee won the favourite heroine title, defeating the strong competition from the likes of Aishwarya Rai and Kajol .

The winners were chosen for their popularity among fans and not for their acting performances in films.
The close battle between SRK and Salman proves again Shahrukh's dominance as the true superstar of Bollywood and Salman's un-dented popularity with the masses despite the controversies and the recent court sentences.
What was more surprising was that Ash could not emerge as the most favourite heroine over Rani despite the fact that Rani has not had any big release for many months now.
The host and hostess of the 'Sabsey Favourite Kaun 2006' awards were Arshad Warsi and wife Maria Goretti who kept the audience in splits with their one-liners.
As expected, Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed Black was adjudged the 'Sabsey favourite film' not only by the classes, but the masses as well.
In the 'Sabsey favourite Naya Hero' (newcomer) the contest was close between Kunal Kapoor and Kunal Khemu . Kunal Kapoor from Rang De Basanti won in the end.
In the new actress category, Vidya Balan of Parineeta won the 'Sabsey favourite Nayi heroine'. Katrina Kaif was a close second.
Paresh Rawal won the 'Sabsey favourite Comic hero' award for the third year in a row.
The 'Sabsey Tez Sitara' award, given to a hero who has taken most strides in the past one year, went to John Abraham . He followed in the footsteps of Abhishek Bachchan , the last year's winner.
The event saw some stunning performances by Udita Goswami and Kunal Khemu, who performed on a medley of songs by Himesh Reshammiya.
Tanushree Dutta , Vinay Pathak and Suresh Menon of the 'Great Indian Comedy' show recreated the magic of all-time classic Hindi films such as 'Sholay', 'Amar, Akbar and Anthony' and 'Don'.
Fardeen Khan performed on the theme 'The many moods of Fardeen'. But the show-stopper was Hrithik Roshan , whose thrilling performance tracked his journey from Koi Mil Gaya to Krrish . This was also his first-ever stage performance based on 'Krrish'.
The awards ceremony will be telecast on Star Gold on May 14 at 20:00 hrs.
Rani Mukherjee's bundle of joy

Rani Mukherjee is on cloud nine these days and it doesn't have anything to do with a prestigious film offer or winning an award.
Rani's sister-in-law on May 8 delivered a little baby girl in a Mumbai hospital.

Rani, who is particularly close to her sister-in-law, wanted to be present for the delivery and share in the joy and happiness of both parents.
Understandably, the entire Mukherjee house is abuzz with laughter and celebration, as this is the first grandchild in the family.
Rani and her brother Raja Mukherjee were both present throughout the delivery at the hospital.
Said the proud doting father "We were all waiting for this big moment and it has finally happened. The entire family including Rani was present at the hospital during the delivery. Both the baby and mother, Jyoti are fine."
The Mukherjees have short-listed a few names for the baby, but will decide one quickly. They hope to give the baby a beautiful Bengali name.
Jyoti who is an actress had a normal delivery. Brother Raja claims it was an extremely overwhelming moment for Rani and himself. They are overjoyed to see the newest member of their family.
Raja said "At first glance she seems like a mixture of Jyoti, Rani and me. But I have to admit her eyes are definitely like Rani's light eyes."
Raja is a television producer, he is currently working on two serials, but he said, "Now I will take paternity leave. I want to spend as much time as possible with the baby. It's celebration time."
Rani was overjoyed on seeing the baby and said, "I couldn't believe that I was holding a new born baby. It is indeed such a divine feeling."
Rani had already shopped for the baby, much before the delivery. She said, "She is the first baby in our family after so many years; I did not know whether it would be a girl or a boy, so I shopped for both."
Rani is of the opinion that the baby will definitely look gorgeous as she is her niece.
Rani who has just wrapped up the shooting for Karan Johar 's film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna had taken some time off, to be present for her sister-in-law's delivery.
Rani will also be seen in Ravi Chopra 's Babul opposite Salman Khan , Sanjay Leela Bhansali 's Saawariya and Ram Gopal Varma 's remake of Sholay in the role of Basanti.
But at the moment, Rani is busy in her new role, that of a doting aunt off screen.
Salman Khan case witnesses disappear

The prosecution in the hit-and-run case involving Salman Khan has suffered a setback with four key witnesses disappearing from their homes and not being available for deposition.
Efforts are being made to trace them, the prosecution informed the trial court in Mumbai on Thursday.

They were not available at their homes and had perhaps shifted elsewhere, the prosecutor told the court.
The four witnesses are considered significant to the prosecution's case as they were injured while asleep when the actor rammed his car into a bakery in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002.
One person had been killed in the incident.
The court has deferred the trial to June 29, according to Salman's lawyer Dipesh Mehta.
When Salman Khan got upset with Shahid Kapur

Recently during a show in the Rockstars concert, Shahid Kapur gave Salman Khan some professional advice on his performance.
Reports are that Salman took offense to advice doled out to him, by the relatively newcomer Shahid.

Shahid has only around four films to his name and a major of which have been flops. The actor has recently started to pick up his career and 'Rockstars' is his first show abroad and the group in the concert also consists of John Abraham , Kareena Kapoor , Mallika Sherawat , Esha Deol and Zayed Khan .
Unfortunately for Shahid, just when things seemed to be looking up for him, the actor seems to have put his own foot into his mouth.
Recently, Shahid gave Salman some professional advice on his performance. However Salman didn't take the idea of Shahid giving him advice very well.
The reports quote a source as saying, "Shahid is a good guy, but he is very immature. Salman is a fun-loving person and he is fond of everyone. But he likes his juniors to respect him. Obviously he wasn't going to appreciate a four film old Shahid Kapur interfering in his performance."
After this immature move by Shahid, Salman was apparently so furious with Shahid that he tried to get him ousted from the show.
However when this attempt didn't work, apparently Salman decided to teach Shahid a lesson, by himself opting out of the film Milenge Milenge , in which he was to perform a cameo of a song.
'Milenge Milenge' is a film produced by Boney Kapoor and stars Kareena and Shahid. The film has been directed by Satish Kaushik . It has been completed but has been stuck in the cans for the last two years.
Kareena co-starred with Salman in Kyon Ki and shares a comfortable rapport with Salman, she tried to sort out the issue, but unfortunately she too didn't have much luck.
Salman refuses to perform his part when Shahid is around and the Kapur lad is sulking around.
But whether Salman will forgive and forget remains to be seen. Salman Khan to make up for SRK's absence at IIFA

The absence of Shah Rukh Khan may not really be a jolt to the forthcoming IIFA awards in Dubai, as Salman Khan has agreed to chip in.
The event, to be held from June 14 to 17, will be a huge, star-studded extravaganza, featuring movie premieres, music releases and an awards show. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is the brand ambassador for IIFA.

The event had apparently received a jolt a few days back after the reports that Shah Rukh Khan won't attend it. Even Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor , who were previously expected to perform at the event, will not be able to make it to Dubai because they would be shooting for Farhan Akhtar's movie Don in the coming days. Shah Rukh will not be shooting for the film, but holidaying in London with his family.
With three big stars 'boycotting' the show, Wizcraft (the event management firm managing IIFA) reportedly approached producer Sajid Nadiadwala to adjust the shooting dates of his movie Jaaneman so that its stars Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta can make up for the absence of SRK, Kareena and Priyanka.
The friendly producer is said to have made adjustments. So the good news is that now, Salman, Preity and Akki will perform at the event.
IIFA will also see Karan Johar releasing the music of his forthcoming film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna .
The event will most likely see performances by Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai also.

He is an all-rounder now. He can handle any role easily. Besides, he has undergone several ups and down in life and one can find these reflected in his acting. Has he grown long hair and a brief beard and got contact lenses now? Yes, he has turned stronger with contact lenses. He appears on the screen in a new avatar. Has Salman played some risky stunts in the movie? Yes, he has shown amazing feats. However, his role is emotional as well as romantic in the movie. Did you shoot the movie abroad? Yes, it has been shot at beautiful locations in Dubai and South Africa. What's the story all about? The hero and the heroine meet in Cape town and later come to know that both hail from Mumbai. They make friends and soon fall in love with each other.
