Ranveer stumbled a step back and held onto the railing. He kept looking at Kiya wanting her to take back her words , wanting the last few moments to just vanish from his life.
"This'.this can't be true'you are joking Kiya" Ranveer said , barely audible.
"It's true" Kiya put it simply. Seeing Ranveer's shocked and shattered face grieved her but she was at loss for words to comfort him . She sat down beside Ranveer who had slumped down on the step.
Inside the room'.
"Why was he being so rude? Calling me names" Panchi asked KD, looking crossed.
"He didn't mean to offend you Panchi, he was being friendly" KD answered with a benevolent smile.
"You are being friendly too, without calling me names" Panchi said.
"He is special to you" KD replied.
"Special? I don't even know him" Panchi looked perplexed.
KD sighed. He was searching for some faint recognition from Panci ever since he came into her room. Wanting to believe that all this was a bad joke.
But the fact that Panchi didn't remember Ranveer, her best friend and love , confirmed her condition.
"You need rest Panchi" KD helped Panchi in lying down "We will meet you tomorrow"
"It was nice meeting you" she smiled at KD "Do tell that to her too"
"I will" KD said smiling.
Panchi looked tired and her eyes started closing as she settled herself comfortably on the bed.
KD walked towards the door
"Suno"
KD turned to look back at Panchi's call.
"Usko meri taraf se sorry bol dhena, uss ladke ko. Wo ithne weirdly behave kar raha tha, I became rude" she added.
KD's smile held a small relief. That was a glimpse of their Panchi, one who felt bad after being rude with someone.
Outside'.
Kiya gently squeezed Ranveer's hand.
"Ranveer all hope is not. Her memory can come back. In such cases it does mostly, that's what the doctor said" she comforted him.
Ranveer's mind barely registered Kiya's voice, for he was far away in his memories.
2010.'
Ranveer didn't know whether to dash left or right. He cursed himself for lack of better judgement. He hurried along a deserted corridor of his school.
"I should find better ways to spend my vacations" he muttered while rushing towards his regular hiding place. From the girl he was currently dating.
Ranveer reached the stairway. The dark space below it was his hiding place since six year old. He shared it with no one. He crouched down to get inside. That's when he heard the sniffing and noticed a huddled form.
"Whose there?" he asked sharply.
A head jerked up. Ranveer moved closer and realised it was a girl, her face awash with tears.
"Hey! You okay!" he asked concerned.
"I am fine" a soft voice stammered "I thought this place was deserted"
"It isn't in use except by me, why are you crying?" Ranveer asked again.
"Sorry, I didn't know about anyone coming here, I will leave now" the girl began moving out.
"Hey it's cool! You can be here if you want to" Ranveer said settling down.
The girl looked distressed and he didn't feel right about her leaving.
"Won't I be invading your privacy?" she asked
"A lil bit, but looks like we both need privacy now. I am Ranveer" Ranveer introduced himself smiling
"Panchi" the girl said moving back to her previous position.
