Dedicated to Tia! -Tia.Saigal2002 -Dedicated to this FF no matter how many surprises I throw your way. Congrats on your 5000th post.  ðŸĨģI am hoping to catch up; Yeh not really... I have a looong way to go. 😆

And to the readers who think he is going to lose his memory- nope, Virat will not be losing his memory and no he's not dying

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'People will tell you most of the story and I have learned that the part they neglect to tell you is often the most important part. People hide the truth because they're afriad'

Maanvi ran through the doors to the point where Rahul had instructed her. The conversations echoing in her head. Rahul wanted the worst for Virat; wanted him to rot in jail. To pay for the deeds that had saved his sister's life? He had saved Malvika from self destruction, she was a living example of his goodness but Rahul saw nothing like that. He wanted Virat to pay for taking her away. He wouldn't be able to tolerate the accusations, that would end his life; he wouldn't be able to take the charges that get thrown his way.

His whole family would suffer; blaming him for the mess. The only family he had would be lost. He would lose everything; his career, his independence, his family. 'No, I have got to find him', she thought as she ran frantically in search for him. The darkened sky lay on top of her as few blinking stars shone brighter then usual, the life called out to her, guiding her in the darkeness. A darkeness she was scared to encounter; a darkeness she knew would lead her to him so she continued because she would never give up on him; even if it meant giving up on herself.

'Virat', she shouted but no answer came back only silence has been surrounded. She took her shoes off as she ran faster down the pavement in the midst of the quiet Chandigarh pavements. After running for 15 minutes and a few startled faces which came into view; staring at Maanvi and then her dress. They had looked away, talking to themself about 'new generation' and 'drunkards'.

Maanvi reached out to her mobile and got out the phone; she was clutching onto and called Rahul. 'Where is he?' Maanvi yelled onto the phone and a faint laugh came through which turned into a full-fledged laugh. 'You thought I would tell you the exact place he was in? Oh hey Maanvi, so you know your boyfriend; he is a few degrees north. Do you think I am your Sat/nav? You still trust me don't you?' Rahul asked amused, almost in a flirting manner and Maanvi shot the phone in the distance, which hit the tree; shattering into non repairable pieces.

'What was I thinking?' she muttered to herself. Of course he wouldn't tell her his plan. She felt more disgusted, the way her hand caressed him; the touch. She rubbed her hands on her dress as the contact burned her skin. Tears spilled onto the hard ground which showed her no sympathy. Her eyes lingered onto the long silenced road without any cars or persons in sight. It was her fault he was in this position. 'It is my fault', she thought as she cried helplessly.

                                                        -----------

'Rahul', came the voice from the phone in a disturbing tone. 'Has security found him yet?' he asked back and a few seconds silence fell before the other voice came. 'You lost him fool?' Rahul shouted; predicting the actions of his high friend. 'No, he fell and he's bleeding. A lot', he answered back and a light smile touched Rahul's face and a glint rose in his eyes. Everyone makes mistakes, even if some are worse than others. Accidents happen.

'What the hell are you doing Rahul?' Malvika screamed as Rahul pushed her against the wall. 'I love you Malvika', he said as he nuzzled her neck but she pushed him back. 'You're drunk', she stated as she moved out of his way but his hand grasped her arm. Swinging her back into his arms and she yelled out for him to stop but he repeated himself; wanting her attention.

'Who are you listening to? They want to separate us. Can't you see that?' he said as he tilted her chin. 'Never leave me', he requested sincerely. 'Look Rahul, we are both different and I can't do this anymore. This is too much', she answered calmly.

'I have always loved you Malvika', he declared as she yanked his arms away but he held her tightly. 'What has changed between us love? 'He asked in irritation at her actions, which were trying to get away from him. 'You have changed!' she shouted as his arms loosened as she ran out of the room.

'How many people saw him fell?' he asked as his friend looked around the small crowd of people gathered across him. 'A few', he answered back. 'Dump him in a quiet valley', Rahul answered as a frantic voice questioned his sanity. 'Better dead in an accident then ever', he answered back in an amused tone. 'I'll double the offer for you', he said as his friend muttered under his breath and hung up the phone not before telling him that he will carry out the deed.

Rahul looked ahead at the blasting music and the dance floor, swirling the black dressed girl around. 'You look happy', the girl said in his ear and he drew her closer. 'Very happy', he answered back. 'What happened?' she asked, playfully. 'My dog died', he answered in a quiet manner. 'Oh I am sorry', the girl said, cupping his face in her hands. 'No, it's a good thing; poor thing would have suffered more', he explained with a grin as the girl nodded in agreement. He closed his eyes and Maanvi's face flashed across him; the first day he had seen her.

"The past can be escaped only by embracing something better."

'Poor fool got out the easy way', he muttered as he spun her around again and hugged the girl. 'Poor fellow', he repeated.

---------------

'So we are engaged?' an ecstatic Tina confirmed the news again and Daboo nodded. It had been half an hour since he proposed and he was still getting questions thrown in his way. He hadn't told anyone that they were in a relationship and now a new word 'fiance'. How was he meant to go straight into telling people that they were engaged? What would Maanvi think? He had always been short tempered and judgmental about Virat's case would that mean she would be the same? 'She wouldn't like Tina?' he thought as a hand waved in front of him; bringing him back from his day dreaming. 'Hellooo', Tina sang as he looked bewildered for a second before shifting his eyes to her face.

'What's wrong?' she asked as he thought upon her words. The fact that they were engaged and no one knew they were dating. The fact that he had left his little sister at a club alone with the boy he hated. The fact that his sister refused to acknowledge that the boy was nothing but trouble and was acting like a teenager in love. 'Nothing', he answered with a faint smile pulling her along through the narrow pavement under the shimmering sky.

'So I want to make something very clear. I want a tulips and a lavish wedding and this is the only demands I have', she said as she grinned at him. 'Only?' Daboo asked in surprise and gasped sarcastically; earning a playful punch from his fiance.

'I am not the bridezilla. It's just a few thing a girl dreams off from childhood', she answered back. 'So, you're telling me. When you were 5, you decided that you wanted tulips for your wedding?' he asked in confusion. '7 actually; at 5 I had my ghagra colour picked out. Which, by the way is purple. There is no way in the world am I wearing red', she defended and stuck her tongue out as he nodded his head, trying to control his laugh.

'What's with society and socialising little girls into such expensive dreams? Poor fiancs have to suffer the consequences', he stated as she came to a halt. 'Now you are getting married to me; you better brush up your law skills as you need to pass your exams to fulfill my wishes', she said with a warm smile; winking at him. 'No pressure then', he said as they both laughed.

'Shit', Tina yelled as her laugh ended and Daboo turned around to look at her shocked face. 'What?' he asked in confusion and she pointed her finger at the valley that stood in the right side. The narrow darkened valley which had a lifeless body sprawled across. 'Crap', he muttered as he left her hand and ran into the path. He stood before the figure that had pool of blood around him; drowning his limp body.

He turned the face slightly to meet the darkened face and his hands dropped to his side. 'Virat', he muttered in shock and then shook him but to no vain as he refused to move. 'Shit, shit', he muttered as he looked upon Tina who stared in disbelief. He looked around, not knowing what to do as distress overcame his form. 'Virat', he called again; this time shaking him violently. His hands went to the pulse and there was still a faint beat. 'He's alive', he called out to her who still stared at the figure. 'Call the police', he yelled to her but she didn't move. 'Tina, for God sake', he shouted but she didn't move an inch or spoke anything.

Daboo rapidly looked through his jeans pocket, looking for his phone. 'Left it at the club', he thought as he looked around for an option and his eyes fell onto the phone that was in Virat's pocket; away from the blood. He pulled out the phone as the packet came into view as well. 'Drugs?' Daboo wondered in shock. Was this the reason? Was he involved in drugs that's why the violence? 'Told you Maanvi' he thought as he dialed through to the ambulance; informing about the injured person. He stuffed the packet into his pocket; away from sight. He took out his jacket and wrapped it around his head; in waiting for the ambulance.

'I told Maanvi, he's not right. He is involved in such things but she refused to listen to me', he said out loud to Tina who stood in her place as if not registering the words. 'Told her it's not right', he repeated as he held onto his head and the faint noise of Ambulance's alarm came from the distance.

                                                            ---------------

'Maanvi', Drushti called out as she held her shoulder; bringing her up from the ground. 'He's gone'. Maanvi sobbed as Drushti held her. 'It's my fault', she spoke again and Drushti pulled back. 'How did you know he was in the hospital?' she questioned her as Maanvi's face snapped up to her face. 'Take me', Maanvi said as she pulled onto her arm and Drushti nodded. A joy as intense as pain. Knowing he was safe yet not safe.

Drushti looked sideways at her numb friend's face; that looked ahead at the road in search for something. She hadn't said a word since they have been in the car but she still wanted her to know what happened. To have her conversing back as she had never seen Maanvi so broken in her life. 'Daboo called me and said he couldn't reach you', she explained as Maanvi still looked ahead. Drushti wasn't sure if she was registering her words but she carried on. 'They found him in a valley and he was hurt then they took him to the hospital. I got a call and I searched for you in the club but couldn't find you so I came outside and asked the bouncer if they had seen you and they said you had gone the Manara way'.

In the next few minutes, Drushti had tried comforting words and soothing words but her friend has still not shown any signs of registering. They had finally pulled into the City hospital and ran inside to the reception.

'Virat Vadhera', Tina said as she tapped onto the wooden desk. 'Please hold on a minute', the receptionist said as she noted something from the phone, scribling something then crossing it out. Maanvi impatiently strode a few steps before coming back to the desk. 'Yeh, I'll be there tomorrow. I can't believe it's a surprise', she whispered onto the phone as Maanvi's hand snatched her phone away. 'Are you freaking kidding me?' Maanvi yelled to the dumb folded receptionist who blinked in disbelief before typing something onto the computer and said in a quiet voice. 'ICU'.

She ran to the ICU room; looking at the signs which led her there and her hands went onto the white door as the small circled glass held him. She tip-toed to get a better view of the window. 'Virat', she whispered to herself as tears rolled down her face. He lay on the hospital bed with closed eyes, machines around him and wires syringed into his body. His chest rose up from steady breaths as the doctor injected his arms which made Maanvi wince and look away. 'Please keep your breaths going. Please', she pleaded to herself as she crashed onto the tiled floor; clutching herself. And for just a fleeting moment, a tiny wisp of time that hung in the air like fireflies in summer skies, she wondered if he was calling out to her.
