Ek Tha Tiger is Complete Bore – Ranveer Singh

Actor Ranveer singh might be a newbie to Bollywood with just a couple of movies but he took no time in attacking the Biggest Khan of Bollywood – Salman Khan .Salman Khan's Ek tha Tiger might have been breaking all box office records and appreciation from Critics but Ranveer did not liked the Movie and Broke out on Twitter .

On August 21st, Ranveer panned Salman Khan's latest blockbuster 'Ek Tha Tiger', saying he liked only the last 15 minutes of the film. He wrote on the micro-blogging site, "EK THA TIGER felt absolute bore bt (sic) last 15min was magical. nice stunt nd action @beingsalmankhan pra."

While neither the industry nor Salman's family has responded to the tweets, a Hindi news channel ran a package on the tweet. This seemed to get the 'Band Baaja Baraat' hero excited and he told his over 13 thousand followers on twitter on Tuesday, "Guys switch to aajtak channel fast. U will get to know how fake i am."
He seemed to be reveling in the role as he added on twitter, "I have criticized 'Ek Tha Tiger' on twitter and a special episode is coming on aaj tak now threatening me. Mai darta nai."

One would be wrong to think that that was the end of the episode, but Ranveer had other ideas. Upping his criticism of 'Ek Tha Tiger', he tweeted, "While i was passing through a multiplex people aftr seeing EK THA TIGER was asking for TIGER BAAM."
We Would better advise Ranveer not to Take Panga with the Macho Man – Salman Khan.

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger box office collections

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger has indeed broken all records. In less than a fortnight, it has grossed over Rs 200 crores! So besides creating the record of the highest opening day ever with a Rs. 32.92 crore, the film also managed to break all opening weekend records.

Besides, the Kabir Khan-directed film co-starring Katrina Kaif creates a new record for the fastest Rs. 100 crore earning at the box office. And so far, it has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark too. Seems like Ek Tha Tiger could soon break the record haul of 3 Idiots, which was Rs. 385 crore, too.

"The film has opened to a crazy response, so there are chances that the total box office collection will increase.

Since the film was strategically released on a week that included Independence Day as well as Eid, it had an advantage," said trade analyst Vajir Singh.

The film released on August 15, 2012.

Mystery behind Katrina's red tilak revealed!

Katrina Kaif recently grabbed headlines not for her performance in Ek Tha Tiger but for the tilak she sported at private screenings of this film.

According to sources, the tilak was nothing more than a religious one, applied to her forehead during a pooja she attended.

Katrina Kaif is these days celebrating the unprecedented response her recent film Ek Tha Tiger is receiving.

No sequel to Ek Tha Tiger

Despite the ending of Salman Khan starrer superhit film 'Ek Tha Tiger' leaving a scope for a sequel, the makers have denied any such move.

"We have not thought of a sequel for 'Ek Tha Tiger'. We don't have any idea (story line) for the sequel," Kabir informed.

Even the producers have denied making a sequel. "With the success of the film, it would be the obvious conclusion for anybody to assume that the film deserves a sequel. However, as of now, there are no such plans and it is more conjecture," Yash Raj Films' vice president (marketing and communications) Rafiq Gangjee said.

Bollywood box-office report of the week

By Abid, Glamsham Editorial

This Friday will see the release of Shirish Kunder's Akshay-Sonakshi starrer JOKER. Given the fact that the month has already seen a blockbuster in the form of EK THA TIGER (still counting!) and since JOKER does not carry the hype and the popular music that should be associated with a big project, the equation becomes quite tough for the film, despite a very reasonable selling price (around 40 crores).

The other listed releases of the week include FROM SYDNEY WITH LOVE and JALPARI - THE DESRT MERMAID, and both have little or no chances at the ticket window!

Last Friday saw the release of EROS International and Bhansali Productions' SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI. The film did get affected by the EK THA TIGER wave but still managed a decent opening weekend netting around 6 crores. The fate of the film will depend on the coming days, but being sandwiched between ETT and JOKER will surely mar its chances further. SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI has failed to make a mark in the overseas grossing and#163; 39,500 from UK and $96,500 from the US during the opening weekend (24-26 August).

After a huge start, the record breaking run of Yash Raj Films' Kabir Khan directed EK THA TIGER continued even during the weekdays as it collected 18.65 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 4.25 crore from Ahmedabad, 1 crore from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 41.25 lakhs from Rajkot, 20 lakhs from Jamnagar, 1.25 crore from Pune, 60 lakhs from Nasik, 30 lakhs from Goa, 17.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 9.60 crore from Delhi city, 1.35 crore from Noida, 1.20 crore from Ghaziabad, 1.35 crore from Kanpur, 1.70 crore from Lucknow, 58.50 lakhs from Agra, 55 lakhs from Allahabad, 28.50 lakhs from Meerut, 13.50 lakhs from Aligarh, 5 lakhs from Moradabad, 8 lakhs from Mathura, 1.55 crore from Gurgaon, 31.65 lakhs from Faridabad, 13.35 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 43 lakhs from Chandigarh, 56.65 lakhs from Jalandhar, 15 lakhs from Amritsar, 10.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 13 lakhs from Bhatinda, 13 lakhs from Ambala, 2.20 crore from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 5.35 lakhs from Darjeeling, 26.75 lakhs from Siliguri, 1.10 crore from Nagpur, 7 lakhs from Amravati (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 60.75 lakhs from Raipur, 2 crore from Indore, 22.25 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 7 cinemas unreceived), 1 crore from Bhopal, 4 crore from Jaipur, 50 lakhs from Ajmer, 37.35 lakhs from Bikaner, 56 lakhs from Kota, 3.55 crore from Hyderabad, 50 lakhs from Auranagabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 2 crore from Bangalore, 9.35 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 10.20 lakhs from Vijayawada, 13.25 lakhs from Madras (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.20 lakhs from Coimbatore and 5 lakhs from Kochi. Netting nearly 152 crores during the first extended week (9-days) and the 20 crore plus second weekend, the Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer, EK THA TIGER, is an all-time blockbuster! EK THA TIGER is also Salman's biggest overseas hit (as predicted!) grossing and#163;1,165,250 from UK and $2,348,000 from UK till the second weekend (24-26 August).

Meanwhile despite the EK THA TIGER wave, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR II managed a decent performance as it collected 50 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 7 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2.35 lakhs from Baroda, 5.50 lakhs from Pune, 1.75 lakhs from Nasik, 50 lakhs from Delhi city, 11.50 lakhs from Noida, 7.35 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 10.65 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 10.65 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.25 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1 lakh from Jalandhar, 7.35 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 4.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 2.75 lakhs from Raipur, 6.55 lakhs from Indore, l lakh from Gwalior, 2 lakhs from Jaipur, 2.50 lakhs from Hyderabad (collections from other cinemas unreceived) and 10 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 3.50 crore, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR II has netted 22.50 crores in two weeks from India. The Nawazuddin-Huma starrer is an average fare.

Concluding with Pooja Bhatt's JISM 2, the film is on its last legs collecting 10 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.50 lakhs from Baroda, 1 lakh from Pune, 10 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.65 lakhs from Noida, 2.25 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2.65 lakhs from Lucknow, 3 lakhs from Nagpur and 1.65 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived). With another crore JISM 2 has netted 33 crores in three weeks from India. The Sunny Leone starrer is a profitable venture for the producers but a loss making venture for the sub distributors of most circuits.

Box Office: 'Tiger' continues to roar, Shirin Farhad fizzles

Salman Khan's latest release 'Ek Tha Tiger' affects the box-office collections of 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi'

The frenzy around Salman Khan's latest release refuses to die down. The film is still attracting the audience even after last week's Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, which had to bear the brunt of the Ek Tha Tiger wave.

Bela Bhansali Sehgal's debut venture managed to bring smiles on the faces of a niche audience, but the good word-of-mouth has not transferred to numbers.

The first day collection of the Boman Irani-Farah Khan starrer was Rs 1.62 crore, second day Rs 1.84 crore and Sunday Rs 2.23 crore making the total Rs 5.69 crore for its opening weekend.

On the other hand, Ek Tha Tiger has now officially become the second highest grosser of all times, after 3 Idiots (Rs 202 crores). The figures are approximately around Rs 158.27 crore after the second weekend.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, 'Shirin Farhad is disappointing at the box office. It is a small film but it did not do too well. The audience is still stuck on Ek Tha Tiger and the wave is very strong. Shirin Farhad is for select audience but the expected business did not happen. It won't make money but has been critically acclaimed.'

Trade expert Atul Mohan says, 'Shirin Farhad is a good film and has its moments. The film will recover its money from satellite and other avenues but it always had limited scope. As far as Ek Tha Tiger is concerned, all I can say is that there is stardom and then there is Salman-dom.'

Salman Khan's chick list

Makers of No Entry Mein Entry chalk up a tentative inventory of probable actresses so that Khan can take his pick

The search for the leading ladies (and there's quite a handful of them in this one) for Anees Bazmee's No Entry Mein Entry is still on. The filmmaker had earlier confirmed that there will be nine female leads in his film opposite the three actors, all of whom will have a double role. Later, he had said that Bipasha Basu was being considered for a very special 10th female role. But the names, as it happens, have not been decided yet. And TOI has learnt, that it's because the makers are still chalking up a list, an advert for which would read something like this:
Wanted: Ten leading ladies for Anees Bazmee's next, No Entry Mein Entry.
Qualification: A-lister who preferably shares a good equation with Salman Khan.

After all, it is the actor who will take the final call on the ten women who will get to star in the sequel to the 2005 comedy hit No Entry. Salman, who is famous for his micromanagement of every aspect of the filmmaking process, according to sources, have decided to be the casting engineer for this one. "He wants only A-list names to be cast in the film," added the source close to Salman.

In fact, when we asked the filmmaker why it was taking so much time to finalise the names of the ten ladies, he reiterated the actor's diktat. "It can't be anything but the best girls. Just because there're ten girls in our film we can't fill up the roles with whoever is available. It has to be established names in all the roles," said Anees and added, "This is a very special film for Salman. It's his first double role since Judwaa and the first sequel of his career. So everything has to be twice as grand as No Entry. We haven't been able to decide on any of the girls as yet. Because we want only the best. We're in the process of drawing up a list of possibilities. Then we'll take a call."

Needless to say, the applicants would be many considering Salman's box office record in the recent past. And though the filmmaker refused to give us any names that are on his list, we decided to chalk up one of our own...

Zarine Khan
Reason: She was a part of Ready too

Angela Jonsson
Reason: Her first break (Sher Khan) is all thanks to Salman. Why not the second?

Katrina Kaif
Reason: Many - 1. Ek Tha Tiger and its multiple digit box office collection. 2. Her equation with Salman (He gifted her a new car for her birthday, remember?). 3. She has already worked with Anees in Welcome, which was a hit.

Kareena Kapoor
Reason: Post Heroine, it would be nice to see her in a lighthearted comedy. She is a great friend of Salman and self admittedly can't say 'No' to him. Also, she would want to build a film bank for her career post marriage.

Priyanka Chopra
Reason: Reportedly she can't work with one Khan any longer. So, landing a role with the other would be nice. Also, she has been trying hard to patch up with Salman for a long time.

Sonakshi Sinha
Reason: A blockbuster Dabangg with the actor.

Anushka Sharma
Reason: After a string of romances, a comedy would be a fresh change for the actress.

Deepika Padukone
Reason: She has said that she wants to work in a film with Salman. And after her performance in Cocktail, a comedy would be a good change.

Sonam Kapoor
Reason: Her father Anil Kapoor is already in the film. A father daughter first venture may work for the film.

Pune band to perform at Salman's Ganesh festival celebrations

When it comes to playing for Salman bhai, it should be perfect," says Atul Behre, president of the city-based dhol-tasha group that has been invited by Salman Khan's family to perform at their Ganesh festival celebrations. The group will play at Khan's Bandra home on September 20 and the members are super excited about meeting their favourite star.

"We were invited to play at Salman bhai's residence last year as well. However, the actor had to leave for the US for a medical treatment before the festival could begin. Thus, he was not present. Salman's sister Alvira was present and coordinated our visit to the house," adds Satyajit Shinde, coordinator of the group. Of course, the group members were a tad disappointed that Salman couldn't watch their performance, but they have their hopes up this year. Salman's brother-in-law and actor-producer Atul Agnihotri confirms the news. "Yes, the group from Pune is coming to perform at the residence," he says, adding, "They had come last year too but Salman missed their performance."
Out of the 650 members who practice regularly, only 150 have been chosen to play at Salman's residence. They have a special theme for the occasion. "We are working on two of Salman's hit tracks - Dhinka chika from Ready and the Dabangg title track. We hope that he will dance to our music this year," adds Shinde. To keep it a complete surprise, the group is careful about when and where it is practising the compositions. "We have a separate slot at night to practice the tunes to be played at the actor's residence," informs Behre.
The group is all praise for the Khan family's hospitality. "The family takes care of all the performers. Last year, a team of coordinators from their side met us at the outskirts of Mumbai and escorted us to the house. They also came along till a certain point on our way back to Pune," Shinde gushes. While in Mumbai, they were treated to a delectable platter of food and were also provided with rooms in a posh community hall for freshening up, Behre reveals. Moreover, the team was provided with security guards. "People from all over the country come to catch a glimpse of Salman during this time. Since half our team comprises girls, we were provided with special security too," says Shinde.
