After RA.One, Shah Rukh Khan is back with his much-awaited action-packed film Don 2. Including names like Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Boman Irani and Sahil Shroff as well, Don 2 has taken a very good opening in both multiplexes and single-screens across the country. Being the only big release this Friday further boosted its prospects.
Directed by Farhan Akhtar, this sequel has released in both 2D and 3D, just like Khan's earlier release this year. Expectations are high and with good reason. In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani, of Multimedia Combines says, "The film has received an opening of 70 per cent in Mumbai and the evening shows are already fully booked. We can expect the film's weekend business to touch Rs 55-60 crore."
Don 2 took a good opening in Delhi too. Says G D Mehta of Bobby Arts International, "Business was good during the morning shows. While the film is fully booked in multiplexes, bookings are 50 to 60 per cent. The film is expected to do well since it stars Shah Rukh Khan and it is an action-packed film."
The cold weather notwithstanding, Punjab gave Don 2 a warm reception. Dharam Pal, of Paramount Pictures says, "Multiplexes clocked an opening of 50 to 60 per cent. The cold did impact the morning shows but the afternoon, evening and night shows will run houseful."
Meanwhile, in West Bengal, the film opened to 90 per cent collections. "Judging by the response, we are hoping the film will do very good business. Its weekend collections should register Rs 3-3.2 crore in Bengal," says Sunil Singh of Aum Movies.
But in CI, Ashok Choudhary of Neha Movies says the opening of Don 2 was "average". He adds, "Multiplexes registered an opening of 60 to 70 per cent and the film is not expected to do well in single-screen cinemas and among the B Class, where the opening was less than 50 per cent."
Rajasthan has better news. Sunil Bansal of Yash Raj Jai Pictures says, "The opening for Don 2 here has been very good, nearly 90 per cent and the film is running to full houses in some cinemas. Since ticket prices of morning shows are lower, a lot of people have been coming to watch the film. Since ticket prices are higher for the evening and night shows, collections might drop."
In Orissa, Jeetu Khandelwal of Pioneer Movies adds, "Single-screen cinemas in Bhubaneswar have received a 100-per cent opening while it is 70 per cent for Orissa. The film has not received a good response in single-screen cinemas."
In Canada holidays start from today ... dont know why they released on a Wednesday here π
In Orissa, Jeetu Khandelwal of Pioneer Movies adds, "Single-screen cinemas in Bhubaneswar have received a 100-per cent opening while it is 70 per cent for Orissa. The film has not received a good response in single-screen cinemas."
