Doubts...

Dhumavati is one of the 10 MahaVidyas. Among all the MahaVidyas, Mahakali, the 1st MV holds the highest position.
Dhumavati is mentioned at 3 places. 1) She gulped Shivji when he refused to pay attention when she was hungry. But Shivji came out soon, he told her since you have eaten your husband you will be worshipped as a widow.
2) As per Markandeya Purana, she is no a widow but unmarried. Once during war she took sankalpa of marrying the person who will deafeat her in war. No one till now has being able to defeat her, that's why she is unmarried.
3) She is also considered as the smoke that came out due to burning of Sati's body at Daksh's yagya.

No, Kali was not trying to kill Shiva.

Raktabheeja was a demon who obtained a boon that even if one drop of his blood touches the ground, another Raktabheeja would be born from it. To kill him it was necessary not to spill even a single drop of blood. Kali kills this demon (accounts vary - some stories say she burnt him, some say she strangled him and some say she drank all his blood).

Once she had killed the demon, she danced ferociously. To prevent the universe from being destroyed by Kali's ferocious dance, Lord Shiva lied down in the way under her feet. Kali, sensing her consort under her feet was embarrassed and stopped her dance at once.

It is said that Kali put her tongue out as she was embarrassed by stepping on Shiva.

By the way, that is a really beautiful picture (one of my favourites 😊)

As for the series, they are not following the original story at all.

Are you referring to the events that led to Parvati creating Ganesh?

Will try my best 😊

I keep saying this to anyone who posts similar doubts - if you want to know what really happened, I'd suggest reading the original texts or their authentic translations.

This series shows a very different story.

Sati chose Shiva as her husband during her Swayamvara against her father's wishes. After the wedding, Daksha told her to go without his blessings and get out of his sight. She went away to Kailash with her husband - no escorts, no maids, no companions, etc.

I don't know if Sati had any female company in Kailash - perhaps the wives of ganas if any but as far as I've read, nothing is mentioned about it.

Of course, Shiva would have provided whatever she needed but female company 🤔 - don't think so...

Parvati, on the other hand left her home for Kailash with all she needed (provided by her parents). She even had two companions - Jaya and Vijaya.

Once, in Kailash, Parvati wanted to take a bath. She left Shiva ganas as guards (some stories say at the entrance of a cave but others say it was a lake and she left the ganas as guards at a distance) to prevent anyone from entering. She told them not to let anyone enter. But when Lord Shiva himself came to meet Parvati, the ganas could not stop him. Shiva said 'I'm Parvati's husband and you dare stop me?' Fearing their Lord's anger, they stood aside and let Him in.

When Lord Shiva reached Parvati, He found her bathing with her companions. Jaya and Vijaya were totally embarrassed on Lord Shiva and realising that they weren't presentable. Lord Shiva turned and left (embarrassed on intruding). Jaya and Vijaya commented that though Parvati was was a goddess, she doesn't have anyone who will guard/protect her at all times. The ganas always follow Lord Shiva and will not do anything against Him. There is no one for Parvati who will guard her privacy which led to Parvati creating Ganesh.

The scene was portrayed well in Ganesh Leela and I think, Om Namah Shivaya too.
