The week for Don's return is finally here and like every SRK release, all eyes are on the box-office collections. Fans of the actor would be nervously hoping for a record-breaking opening. After all, his last smash-hit was Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008. Every since, it's been Aamir Khan and Salman Khan who have been hogging the limelight.
Can Don 2 re-establish SRK's position in the industry? Let's have a look at some of the box-office records that the film chases this weekend.
There you go, we expect Don 2 to break the single-day and weekend records. The rest would depend on the content.
We have tried a different style of prediction for Don 2. Do tell us how you liked it. Your predictions are welcome too.
In an interview with CNN-IBN's Rajeev Masand, Shahrukh Khan had several interesting things to say. Below are some excerpts.
Recently, Ranbir Kapoor had said that he is not just competing with actors of his generations but also with stars like Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. When Rajeev Masand asks SRK about this, he says "I will be very honest. I don't say this with any immodesty or self-centered pompousness. I don't have any competition. I have not come here to compete, I have come here to rule!!"
He also takes a dig at Ranbir Kapoor's comment when he says "I don't have a father, grandfather or mother in this industry, who can give me an extra push here in Mumbai."
"In the last 20 years I have either been wrongly compared to greats like Amitabh Bachchan or youngsters who have done 3 films and I feel really sorry for them. It is unfair to them, like it is unfair for me when I am compared to Mr Bachchan."
"When an actor or an actress turns around and says I want to beat Shahrukh Khan. Bring it on. That's absolutely alright. But personally I would say, 'don't mess with this'.
SRK also shared a story about his son. When SRK's mother-in-law asked Aryan whether he'd like to be an actor, he turned around and said "I'd like my dad to continue doing what he is doing, because I like him as an actor. And he's going to do that for the next 10 -- 15 -- 20 years⦠he's got so much energy. I would not like to be second-best. And as long as my dad is going to be there, I'll always be second-best."
SRK then continues to say, that it holds true for "little boy's who are not my son's also" referring to Ranbir Kapoor and the younger generation of actors.
Interestingly, he never speaks about his contemporaries or actors of his generation like Aamir or Salman Khan! And more so about Akshay Kumar, who much like SRK, made it on his own in the industry.
Below is the full video of the conversation. Do watch it and tell us what you think. We wonder if this is the very reason why fans of other actors don't like SRK.
It holds true the other way round too, SRK is someone who has been making such bold statements for years and still living up to it. It's one thing to say and quite something else to sustain your position right at the top.
