@Priti: You make perfect sense!

But I think it is far too early to judge these shows. And if you look at the promos, they really are of a wide variety. The only thread connecting them is that they all play on human emotion and experience. I mean this channel pretty much has the gamut of Indian TV in one place, family dramas, mythology, crime and thrillers. Perhaps the idea is to make less glamourous shows, which are all the rage in the mainstream now.

These shows remind me of South Indian shows, which are very real and not at all glamourised. Most of them are depressing as well but that doesn't stop them from being hugely successful.

So all I am saying is that it is way to early to judge the fate of the channel, not saying that it definitely will be a success or anything. I am not their spokesperson, but to me the whole thing looks meticulously planned (aside from the graphics) so I wouldn't just say it's going to fail.

Ok, gotta go guys, will see you later!

@Lily there are so many non-demure damsels all over the big channels now! From HD on Zee to Nidhi on Sony (KTLK) to Sandhya, Maanvi etc on SP, the unconventional babes are becoming the flavour of the day. So I think LOK is becoming the new experimental platform for Star. That was the point I was trying to make, and gritty, human, emotional stories are their new experiment.

@Samana - I double-clicked the like button so the "like" dissappeared -but yup I agree gals with a mind of their own and ones who don't mince words along with dare to aspire are being tried & aggressively promoted as shows which I like -but for some reason its only in bits & pieces- I've followed all protagonists you've mentioned ,but somewhere I haven't seen a complete detachment from the cliched.

Plus the fact remains -somewhere down the line even if poor SO has been "revamped" it did prove that youth shows are worthy to become a fad or trendy coz after yrs later mainstream channels are going that pathTongue

edit- I wonder why they couldn't experiment the hard, gritty shows in SO though-I mean then they could have current hit shows as a backup as well & SO isn't entirely new to dabbling in new ideas too -we did have DLMH,RBO & GHSP -in serious genre though others didn't fare well

Bye,tc!!

Sam south soaps lack glamour but their drama content ,execution and flow of episodes make it real and watchable and suppose it is AP where I stay they show the contents and traditions of the same place but in national Tv If a south indian is watching He has to digest the variety of tradition, So NI we don't have much problem in watching shows like pratigya though it is a allahabad's story but south indians cannot watch that.If they  are watching hindi shows that is because of glamour and the entertainment part. Here in Gemini  they have round the clock shows till  11 in the night but still people watch ye rishta & PR,geet, behna bcz they are not over traditional & entertaining, light hearted and glamorous. U know My mom watches two bengali shows. They have good story content.

After watching the shows of LOK I am confused as to which channel has gone for a revamp by the looks of it it appears as if its not SO but sahara one that has gone for a revamp all the shows lack that X factor that glamour which is associated with star & from what angle do they think that such shows will atract youth ? todays youth is a bit mature we don't want mindless romance neither do we want an overdose of drama all we want is a strong intense passonate love story that has the right amount of romance comedy thrill & drama

Ya bingo priya,I pretty confused what type of people they are expecting to watch. Saach ka samna is a seasonal show when rajeev goes off again it will come to a worst place than SO. in my professional language If I say If U have taken a sick unit U should do good Hw to include all the previous  records, company's profit and where it is going wrong. but not to abolish the whole machinary and the running unit altogether. As sam told it too early but seem to be going in the way of 9X & sahara one channels which don't even have subsciptions in many places. Now I saw in last channels LIFE OK . He is giving. MY mom is a big showee even she didn't like it.

You are right richa now I am scared as to what will they do to geet season 2 if it comes in LOK now I want it in SP
it looks like they are trying to follow the footsteps of colours which started with social messages & negativity but today the fact is that even colours is going downhill
they lied to us that it is to target youth ?

you know last Sunday I was having a  almost similar discussion about Indian soaps ... where does it fails... the main problem according to me  and my friend is the dragging / twist and turns after the ending off the main story... writers are not able to provide with decent scope and ad the saas, bahu flavours too it...or go away form the main concept... thinking that is what will work...while in that process the characters get butchered...look how it effected Geet...

second: how is the market in India...cause gul khan said the Indian market isn't interested in season 2... why would she say that...their must be a reason...what does the viewer wants and how can a channel provide it...

my best friend who is marketing specialist say: Sony is one off the better channels...they play the marketing game very well...and asoon they notice an concept doesn't work anymore...it's given a opportunity to come with a better strategy...but even if that doesn't work...the show is pulled off...

third: how  does it fits in the Indian tradition and how progress is the viewer... cause although we are getting to see strong female...it this appealing for the average traditional viewer... will the concept work then...are they willing to accept a woman working out side, yes today an education is important and most woman are studying but due the get a chance to work...or is it only a showpiece...

ok, I hope I made any sense...cause to translate an discussion form dutch to english is hard... and marketing isn't my thing...

Well the problem with a second season is that people overdo it I mean when they do a first season they have no idea as to whether it will work or not its a mystry to them but in second season they already know what works & they oerdo it like in case of KMH 2 not much attention was given to the story & mainleads were promoted blindly & it failed but in case of CB 2 a lot of attention was given to the story hence its working so the point is viewers are not fools we do want maneet onscreen but with a story
