Part 2

Next day, morning light dawn upon the happy couple… khanak stirrs as sunlight irritates her eyes. She opens her eyes and luked sideways… shan's face is inches away from her face and his hands around her waist.. he is in deep sleep..suddenly last night incident dawn upon her.. she smiled when it registered in her mind that last night was not a dream but a reality..khanak removes shan's hands from around her waist and gets up.she goes in front of mirror and sees herself.. she touches her tummy and try to feel the new change.. a small smile crept on her face.. she turns around and sees sleeping shan.. she goes to him and leans towards him.. she holds his hand kisses him on hand and smiles at him. She then goes and kisses him on cheek.. shan stirrs a little.. he is about to hug khanak still in sleep when khanak immediately walks away..  she blushes and mutters a budthal and goes to washroom..

Today she doesn't know but everything felt different to he, as if her life has started to change, and that too for good..she comes out of freshroom and sees shan still sleeping.. she smiles at him and walks out of the room and heads downstairs…

 

 

KHANAK: arey mummyji ap?

She goes to her and bent down to touch her feert

Madhavi( smiling): jaisa tum log chod ke gae the, waisa hi rakha hai humne

KHANAK: ha mummyji.. pata hai mein wapis ake bahut khush hoon.. aut pata hai shantanu to ghar ko itna miss karte  the.. aur ab dekhiye,  apna room wapis mila nahi, kaise janab aram se so rahe hai

Madhavi:  so raha hai? Abhi tak?

KHANAK: ji mummyji..

Madhavi(angrily): wo ab papa ban ne wala hai, aur wo ab tak so raha hai.. mein ja kar use uthati hoon .. ab aisa nahi chalega.. aram tumhe karna chahiye, aur aram who kar raha hai..

Madhavi was about to go upstairs when khanak stops her

KHANAK: mummyj rehne dijiye na.. aj mushkil se achi neend ai hogi unhe.. sone dijiye na

Madhavi  (concerned): matlab.?? Wahan tumhe taklif hoti thi kya.. waha acha envirnment nahi tha kya rehne ke liye??/

KHANAK: nahi mummyji, aisi koi baat nahi hai.. par apne ghar, apne kamre mein so kar jo sukoon mil sakta hai, wo to kahi nahi mil sakta na…

Madhavi: ha ye to bilkul thik kaha tumne….. acha khanak aisa karo, tum apne kamre mein jake aram karo , mein tumahaa nashta harilal ke haath upar bhijwa deti hoon

KHANAK: mummy ji abhi mujhe bhook nahi hai, aur agar hogi bhi to mein khud hi le lungi

Madhavi( loudly): nooo

Khanak is shocked seeing madhavi like this

Madhavi: khanak ab tumhe apna khayal rakhna hoga.. isliye diet to proper leni hi hogi.. so chup chap apne kamre mein jao.. aur khabar dar jo tum ne kitchen mein per bhi rakha to

KHANAK; par mummyji..

Madhavi( scolding): nahi khanak, ab se no kitchen.. ab tumhe zyada se zyada aram karna hoga.. ghar mein itne naukar hai kaam karne ke liye.. so seedhe upar jao without any arguments…

Khanak is about to say something when madhavi lukes sternly at her.. she had no option but to go upstairs..

 

 

 

 

 

KHANAK(to herself but loud enough) : kitchen mein na jaooo.. to kya ab mein 9 mahine tak mein kitchen mein nahi ja sakti.. itne dino baad ghar ai hoon, kamse kam mujhe meri kitchen to dekhne dete…aise thode hi hota hai.. mein kya karoongi, yahan kamre mein baithe baithe bore hoti rahoongi

" oh meri jhansi ki rani, kis par baras kar a rahi ho"

KHANAK turns around and sees shan standing at bathroom'shan door with hairs wet and towel aroun his neck.. he comes closer to her

Shaan: subah subah kispar gussa ho rahi ho

KHANAK ( angrily) ; kissi par nahi( and turns her face)

Sha( hugging her from behind): batao na khanak kya hua?

Khanak so suddenly turn back that it almost scared shan

KHANAK: dekhiye na shantanu, mummyji ne mujhe koi bhi kaam karne se mana kar diya hai

Shan: kyun>??

KHANAK: kyun? Kyunki ap papa ban ne wale hai ,isliye.. ( shaan smiles ) ab bataiye na shantanu mummyji keh rahi hai ki mein kitchen mein per bhi nahi rakh skhti

Shan:oh,, to yeh batt hai.. yar mummyji ko yeh nahi karna chahiye tha.. mrs khanak khandelwal from dhulwadi bina kitchen ke kaise reh sakti hai.. oho ye to bahut galat hua( shan said teaing her but making a serious face)

KHANAK; apko mazak sujh raha hai shantanu..hatiye mein apse baat nahi karti( and she turn her back to shan.. he laughs and comes forward hugging her frm behind)

Shaan: khanak mom tumahari bhalai ke liye keh rahi hai.. tum pregnant ho aur is halat mein aram karna chahiye

KHANAK( angrily): apko kaise pta.. ap bhi pregnant hue ho kya

KHANAK's eyes suddenly met through shan's yes in mirror who was smiling .. she realised what she just said and burst into laughter remembering old days  when shan did not want to be father and shan pretended to be pregnant

Shan: dekha mein bhi pregnant ho chuka hoon.. isliye mujhe sab kuch pata hai( he turns hr around from her waist and puts a strand of her hair behind her ear)… khanak yaar mom ko bhi pata hai na ki is condition mein kya karte hi

KHANAK: janti hoon shantanu, mummyji yeh sab mummyji meri bhalai ke liye keh rahi hai, .. par shantanu ap h batao na mein aisekhali thode hi baith sakti hoon

Shaan: par khanak aram karna to zarroori hai na.. apne liye nahi to kam se kamhamare bache ke liye

KHANAK( in thinking mode) : a-ha

Shaan: to madam ab tum aram karo.. mein abi ata hoon

: ap kahan ja rahe hai

Shan( hesitatingly) : mein..  wo bas mujhe thoda kaam tha

KHANAK: kya????

Shan(stammering a little): wo. ….Wo mujhe jo hamare music director .. hai na...sharmaj.. unse milne jana haii

KHANAK: itni subah subah

Shaan: umm …….ha .. unhone mujhe studio bulaya hai…unka phone aya tha…. Shalo khanak mein chalta hoon.. apna khyal rakhna

He givves her a small peck on her cheeks and leave… khanak smiles .. she goes and sit on bed

KHANAK( to herself) : chal khanakdi ab aram kar..( and she start reading magazine nearby)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shan goes and hug rahul.. he goes to other guy and hugs him too

Shan: aur rajat.. kaisa hai yaar

Rajat: badiya ha yaar, tu bata

Shaan : first class ..

Rajat: aur bata..us din reunion party ke baad aj mil rahe hai…… ive heard u have got a big break in music

Shan: ya..

Rajat: congrats yaar..

Rahul( interrupting in between) : yaar yahi khade khgade baat karte rahoge ya ander bhi chaloge

Shan: oh! Sorry yaar… lets go( they all enter the restraunt and seated themselves. He calls waiter)

Shan: ok then batao kya loge

Rajat: nothing yaar.. mein khan kha ke aya hoon

Rahul: ha yaar , nothing for me either

Shan: ok then no order ( he says to waiter)

Rahul: arey yaar tu to le l;e kuch

Shaan; nahi yaar mujhe bhook nahi hai

Waiter leaves

Rahul: aur bata shaan tune subah ubah phone kar ke kyun bulaya.. aur wo bhi tab when im so busy wid my wedding celebrations…. And ye kyun kaha ki rajat ko saath leke aoo

Rajat(smilng) : ha yaar.. meri beti hui hai.. she'shan now 6 months old

Shaan: wow! Congrats yaar( Shan said with forced smile)

Rahul: shaan tune humse ye baat karne ke liye bulaya tha

Shan(trying to change topic): nahi yaar.. kaha na , bas aise hi

Rahul finds something strange in shaan's voice

Rahul: shaan , sab thik to hai na… sach bta yar whats the matter

Shaan: yaar .. wo mein .. wo mein papa ban ne wala hoo

"kya"????????both rahul and rajat exclaimed unitedly..

Rahul gets up and go hug shaan

Rahul : congrats yaar.

Rajat too gets up and hugs him and congratulates him.. shan trying to give  hard smile

Rahul: tu to bada chuppa rustam nkla.. kal party mein bhi nahi bataya..

Shan: wo… wo actually mujhe… mujhe bhi kal hi pata chala

Rahul: acha tabhi.. tabhi kal bhabhi behosh ho gai thi.( shan nods a little)  Oh….. anyway  tu aise muh kyun latka ke baitha hai .. tujhe to khush hona chahiye..

Shan did not say any word

Rahul : oye shan.. say something

Rajatt( interrupting rahul in between): ek minute rahul( he tuns his face to shaan) : kya baat hai shan.. do you… do you not want this child

Shan( shocked to hear this and immediately stops him): nahi rajat, I want this child.. of course I want this child…. Inface iska to mujhe aur khanak ko kabse intezaar tha

Rahul: phir kya problem hAI yaar

Shan( now becoming serious): pata nahi yaar, ajib si ghabrahat ho rahi hai

Rahul: kaisi ghabrahat

Shaan: I don't know yaar ki mein itni badi zimmedari utha paunga bhi ya nahi

Rahul: of course, u can shan… aur waise bhi jab khanak tere saath hai , to tu kyun tension le raha hai

Shan(smiling) wo to hai yar mere sath.. wo to hai hi… and I know ki wo apni zimmedari ache se puri karegi… infact I know she's gonna be best mother in whole world… par mujhe nahi lagta kimein ek acha dad ban paunga

Rajat: of course u will be great dad shaan.. don't worry, shuru shuru mein sabko aisa hi lagta hai…

Shan( a bit anxious to know): kya tumhe bhi aisa hi laga tha rajat jab tumahari beti hone wali thi??/

Rajat: ya shaan.. jab mujhe pata chala that adhika was pregnant , mere to jaise hath pao hi phul gae… bilkul tumahari tarah hi halat ho gai thi meri….tumahari tarah hi darr lag raha tha

Shan: wohi to yaar…. You knw jab kal khanak ne kaha ki she's getting nervous , tab meine use to dilasa de diya ki we'll handle this situation well… par.. par uske baad to jaise mujhe neend hi nahi ai and then mujhe teri yaad ai…. Isliye meine subah uthte saath rahul ko phone kiya coz I didn't know ur address.. but I really wanted to share my feelings with someone.. aur meine socha agar khanak se ye sab bate kahunga then she might take it differently that…. Tht ki mein shayadkhush nahi hoon… that'shan why I called u rajat

Rahul(  with tongue in his moth and grinning): par yaar tujhe tension lene ki kya zarurat hai.. tu to waise hi pregnancy ki rehearsel kar chuka hai

Shan: par yaar tab to mujhe laga tha ki mein ye responsibility asani se nibh lunga but ab mujhe nahi lagta if I could handle….

Rajat: pregnancy ki rehersal…??????? … what are u guys talking about?????\

Shan( smiling) ..: nothing yaar.. long story…. Tu bas mujhe apni story bata..

Rajat: shan yar, tu tension mat le… aise ghabrahat hona, its normal yar…itni badi zimmedari ke ane se thoda ajeeb to lagta hi hai…. Infact I think it's the same feeling everybody has.. but its good tune bhabhi se kuch nahi kaha…. Balki mujhe to lagta hai that u should never share this in front of woman….. with them u just have to be supportive, cause shanthats wat they most need at this time… …..(shan smiles listening to his words)…shan its not like ur music contracts where everything is clear… yahaan tum har din kuch na kuch naya seekhoge…. Infact, mere paas ek book hai jise maine refer kiya tha when radhika was pregnant.. usme sab likha hai what to do, what not to do during this time..\

Shan(excitedly): really? Kya tu mujhe wo book de sakta hai?/

Rajat( laughing seeing his anxiety): of course yaar… but shaan mein tujhse ek baat kehna chahta hoon… koi bhi book tumhe practical knowledge nahi de paegi…. That u have to learn on ur own

Shan'shan face fell

Shan: to mein kya karroon yar

Rajat: its very easy yar… just always remember that bosses are always right……. jab bhi tumahari biwi tumse adhi raat ko ice crem khane ki demand kare to kabhi mana mat karna… chup chap use le jana ice crem khilane ke liye

Shan( getting scared a lil) : acha?? Yar mein to na ek sath kai sari ice cream ki bricks fridge mein lake rakh dunga

Rajat starts laughing listening this

Shan: what??

Rajat: shan baat sirf ice crem ki nahi haipregnancy mein itne mood swings hote hai ki wife kisi bhi time kuch bhi mang sakti hai… aur agar tumne unki baat nahi mani to ya to rona shuru ya chilana shuru

Shan moves his hands in his hair getting scared at rajat'shan words and imagining khanak's angry face

He didn't say anything for few seconds and just stare at the cutlery kept on table

Rajat( jerking him) : arey shan tu to aur bhi darr gaya yaar….yar bacha hona itna bhi bura nahi hota.. balki dad ban na is the greatest feeling in the whole world… jab pehli baar tumahara bacha tumahari ungli thamta hai to it feels so good( rajat says sighing as if remembering his own time)… ek baar baby ho jae to apko alarm lagane ki koi zarurat nahi kyunki subah uske rone se tumahari neend apne ap khul jaegi .. but this is with pleasure.. is me ek alag hi khushi hoti hai.. ek alag hi ehsaas hota hai… ab to mein apni beti ke bina apni life imagine bhi nahi kar sakyta.. bache se zindagi ko ek naya maksad, ek naya matlab milta hai.. manan shuru shuru mein thodi dikkate ati hai, but bad mein sab khubsoorat lagne lagta hai

Shan smiles , this time genuinely….

Rahul: and shan, I think tum aur khanak ache se adjust kar loge, tum dono ek dusre se itna pyar karte ho…. And tera to mujhe pata nahi but I know khanak, wo bahut samajhdar hai… she'll handle everything

Shan: but yaar this time mein ye khud handle karna chahta hoon…chahta hoon ki kuch aisa karoon ki khanak ko koi pareshani na ho…mein is baar koi galati nai karna chahta

Rajat: don't worry shaan.. sab thik hoga.. aur ek baat ksahu shan tu badal gaya hai.. tu ab wo college wala shan raha hi nahi,,, you have changed a lot nad that too for good and I m sure iska credit zarur bhabhi ko jaata hai

Shan laughs remembering khanka'shan smiling face and her all time support to him

Rajat: to shan ab khush ho ja and enjoy this new phase….

Shan( smiling) : thanks yar rajat… your words really helped.. ab mein thoda light mehsoos kar raha hoon

Rahul( angrily) : thoda??? Itna bada bhashan sunane ke baad bhi thoda light mehsoos kar raha hai tu.. ek to mujhe bulakar paka diya upar se aise bol raha hai

Shan( apologetically): sorry yar.. par koi nai tujhe bhi thodi practice ho gai .. akhir teri bhi to shadi ho rahi hai and u too will become father in future

Rahul( getting scared): kyun yar.. kyun meri abhi se band bajwa raha hai??

And all three of them laughed

Shan: chal yar kuch order karein .. bahut zor se bhook lagi hai.. tension ke mare to mera kuch mann hi nahi kar raha tha …

They all start laughing

 

 

 

Khank is in her room arranging all clothes back into cupboard from suit case.. suddenly phone starts ringing

Khanak( to herself) arey ye to shantanu ka phone hai

She start luking for it

KHANAK: ye na bilkul budthal hai.. apna phone ghar par hi bhool gae

She picks up phone lying on bed

KHANAK: helo.. ji mein shantanu khandelwal ki biwi bol rahi hoon, ap kaun… sharma ji????????... par shantanu to apse milne hi gae the studio…. Ji, nahi aye…( after thinking for sometime)…. Ji shayad meine galat suna hoga…… ji zaroor jab wo aenge to mein unki baat apse baat karwa dungi

KHANAK hang up the phone

KHANAK( in her mind): shantanu studio nahi gae… to kaha gae…. Subah to yehi keh rahe the ki sharma j se milne ja raha hoon…. Shantanu ne mujhse jhooth kyun bola..?????????...( khanak smacks herself lightly)… khanak tu pagal hai shantanu tujhse jhooth kyun bolenge… tune hi galat suna hoga

She smiles and again get back to her work…….
