TV actor's case against estranged hubby quashed
Bombay High Court on Thursday quashed a criminal complaint lodged by a television actress, Chahat Khanna, against her estranged businessman husband Bharat Narsinghani.
"Be sensitive in dealing with matrimonial dispute cases," the court told the Mumbai police even as it rapped the officials for hastily filing a charge sheet in a case in which the couple were in the process of settling the dispute amicably.
"This is a matrimonial dispute . Why did the police file the charge sheet in haste when the wife made it clear that she did not want to pursue the case? The police do not show the same speed while investigating genuine criminal cases ," said a division bench of Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice R G Ketkar. Chahat acts in the TV soap, Bade Acche Lagte Hain.
