BOLLYWOOD singing sensation Alka Yagnik will be sharing the stage with Zee TV stars Avinash Sachdev and Rubina Dilaik (who played Dev and Radhika in Chotu Bahu), the winner of 2011 Zee TV Little Champs, 10-year-old Azmat Hussain, and the second runner-up from Little Champs, Nitin Kumar, on a three-concert tour of South Africa this month.
Yagnik came to South Africa two years ago and performed to sold-out crowds. She has been the host of India's most popular talent-search shows, and was also the main judge for Zee TV's Little Champs for 2011. The competition is similar to the Indian Idols contest, but is aimed at children under the age of 12.
The popular singer has lent her voice to almost every major Bollywood actress in India, and has won numerous awards for her chart-topping hits in India.
Her first hit was Mere Angne Mein in Laawaris but her popularity soared with Ek do teen in Tezaab. Incidentally, this song was a turning point in actress Madhuri Dixit's career, making her a star in Bollywood. Yagnik's other unforgettable hits include Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Baazigar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
The three-concert tour will kick off in Johannesburg at Carnival City on Sunday at 5.30?pm, before heading to Cape Town's ICC on December?14 at 8 pm and Durban's ICC Arena on December?16 at 7.30?pm.
Tickets start at R150 and can be bought at Computicket, Maharaj's Prayer Goods in Phoenix and Sunrise Fruiterers in Overport
