Suddenly, the house phone rings. Anjali almost runs to pick it up. "Chote?"
"Haan Di aap ko kaise pata chala ki mera call hai?" Arnav asks surprised.
"Kaisi baat kar rahe ho chote? Di ko nahi toh kya laxmi ko pata chalega?" She replies a little annoyed. "Kab se dhoondh rahe hai aap ko. Kahaan the aap?"
"Wohh Di, woh main.. umm bas yahiin tha. Phone ki ghanti sunaai nahi di." Arnav stutters.
Anjali squints in distrust and sports a mischievous smile as this just confirms that something is definitely fishy. Now she must put her detective hat on and figure out what it is! She pretends to ignore his nervousness and continues talking to him casually.
"Acha, kaisa raha aap ka aaj ka Din Chote? Aap theek tarah se pahoch toh gaye the na?" She asks.
"Di aaj ke din ki tohh baat hi mat poochiye! Kya kya nahi hua mere saath. Sab uss ladki ki galti hai." He replied.
"Kiss ladki ki chote?" Anjali continues her detective giri!
"Arrey wohi, wohh.. aap ki laadli rajkumari.. Khushi Kumari Gupta." He answers sarcastically.
"Arrey ab kya kar diya Khushi ji ne?" Anjali asks in confusion.
Arnav explains to Anjali how Khushi got stuck in the trunk, their car broke down, the phone died, the entire jungle story and the dhaba story! He described to her how difficult it was for him to finally get to Nainitaal and how he missed his meetings because of her. "Aur upar se woh apna muh bandh hi nahi kar rahi thi. Ya toh pakaude kha rahi thi ya phir bak bak kar rahi thi." Arnav says it all too sincerely in one breath.
Anjali bursts out in laughter the moment Arnav stops talking.
"It's not funny Di! Main paagal ho gaya hoon!" Arnav is annoyed.
"Phir hume itni hasi kyun aa rahi hai chote?" Anjali asks naughtily.
"Wohh aap jaano di. Aap ko pata bhi hai? Iss ladki ko safely ghar pahochane ke chakkar mein hi yeh sab hua hai!" Arnav reacted.
"Arrey Chote, aap ko Khushi ji ki itni chinta kab se hone lagi?" Anjali Retorts.
"Di.. aap se toh main baad mein baat karta hoon. Kuch pi liya tha kya jo nahi pina chahiye tha? Bade ajeeb mood mein ho aaj aap!" Arnav says and before Anjali can say anything, hangs up. Anjali smiles in more delight as the doubt she had been brewing about Arnav and Khushi for a few days seems to strengthen more and more. She decides she is going to investigate more after they come back.
The next day, Arnav and Khushi come back, and he drops her to her house before coming home. Because of the trip, Khushi takes a day off. Arnav walks into Raizada mansion all dazed and lost in her thoughts.
*Snap snap* "Chote, kahaan khoye hue hai aap?" Anjali asks.
"Oh Hi Di! Kuch nahi. Bas thak gaya hoon. Pareshan kar ke rakh diya iss ladki ne!" He replies.
"Uss ladki ka ek naam bhi hai Chote! Aap ko shayad maaloom ho!" Anjali replies cheekily.
"Di aap abhi bhi kal waale ajeeb mood mein ho? Main bilkul mood mein nahi hoon. Main apne room mein jaa raha hoon." Arnav speaks restlessly and moves to leave since he doesn't want to be interrupted from his train of Khushi thoughts.
As he is about to go up, Anjali grabs him by his arm and says with a smile "Arrey Rukiye chote. Hum soch rahe the ki aaj nashte mein aap ke liye sugar free jalebi banaye. Aap kha lenge na?"
In his anxiousness to leave from there, he just says yes to it without thinking or processing. She lets go of his hand and he starts to go to his room. 10 steps later, he stops, turns around, and says "WHAT? Jalebi? Aap theek toh ho na Di?"
Anjali drifts into a carefree laughter again. Seeing this, Arnav smiles nervously too. But quickly wipes it off his face and collects himself before she notices him. Anjali finally tells him "Wohh kya hai na, hume lag raha hai aaj kal aap ke taste badal gaye hai aur aap ko jalebi pasand aane lagi hai. Toh socha aap ke liye banwaa de!"
"Koi zaroorat nahi hai Di. I'm not hungry!" He finally leaves.
He freshens up, gets comfortable, and goes to hang out with his plants for some mental peace.
Anjali comes there with Green tea and offers it to him. "Chote aap ki chai!"
"Devi Maiyya ke liye mujhe akela chod dijiye Di!" Arnav spurts out and then stands there shocked at what he just uttered. "What the?" He thinks to himself.
Anjali wants to laugh so hard but she controls. "Aap ki tabiyat toh theek hai na Chote? Hum doctor chachi ko phone kare kya?"
Arnav now mellows a little realizing that he just said something really stupid. "No Di I am fine. Thodi si gastric problem thi. Laiye Chai dijiye. Yeh piunga theek ho jaunga."
"Gas ki problem ke liye green tea?" Anjali is really confused.
"Arrey Caaman sense ki baat hai na Di?" He replies and shuts his mouth again. "Mera matlab hai, bhukh lagi hai! The tea will help! Kuch khaya piya nahi toh gas ke saath acidity muft!" He is again totally dumbstruck at his own behavior and curses himself for not being able to control his words.
"Par aap ne toh kaha tha aap ko bhukh nahi hai Chote?" Khushi pulls his leg.
Arnav fetches the cup from Anjali's hand and starts to leave. "Di aap jalebi mere room mein bhijwa dijiye! Shit! Mera matlab hai toast mere room mein bhijwa dijiye chai ke saath pi lunga, I mean kha lunga." He grunts and erupts out of there before he makes any more fool of himself in front of Di.
Anjali is now sure this has been Jalebi bai ka jaadu. She concludes that her Chote is finally in love, and decides that she must repeat the same tests on Khushi when she arrives the next day. She wants to ensure that aag dono taraf se baraabar lagi hai ki nahi! She cannot stop smiling as she heads back to the kitchen! 😈😆
