FF- Promise To Never Leave Me Thread 2 Link Up

Khushi paced around her room frantically, in deep thought. Her eyebrows nit together further, at the thought of what she had just said.

            "Humar karmra, ye hamara karma kabse hogaya? Yeh toh hum dono ka kamara hai. Hamara aur Arnavji kah, "she said out loud, talking to herself.  

            She sat down on the couch tired of all the pacing. She signed heavily and put her head down on the headrest of the couch, the worry lines on her forehead deepening.

            "Kaha hain aap? " Khushi thought.

            She sat quickly and rushed to her cell phone, remembering how he had one day walked in with a cell phone box and thrown it on the bed. When she had questioned him about it, he had said it was for her.

            "Arrey yeh kya hai?" Khushi asked. She turned around, "Arnavji?, Yeh kya hai? Aur kis ke liye hai?"

            Arnav had just loosened his tie and was in the middle of unbuttoning his dark green shirt. He turned to face Khushi to look straight into her excited eyes and then looked down, continuing to unbutton his sleeves. He answered her before she could start her questionnaire.

            " I swear," he thought, " she asks more question then I do when I am hiring someone for a job! If I do not answer her now, she will start a whole "Rapid Fire" sessions with me from her favorite tv show, "Koffee with Karan.  "

            "It is for you, " Arnav replied. He looked up at her just in time to see a delightful smile appear on her face. She quickly ran to the bed almost tripping in her black and sky blue saree. She snatched the box up of the bed and walked up to Arnav. She stood there, with the bos in her hand, waiting for him to look at her.

            He thought the excitement of opening the box would have made Khushi impatient, but she just stood there infront of him for the longest time. Finally he looked up at her when he realized that she would not move or let him move until he looked at her.

            Her face has the cutest smile on it, the one he loved to see on her face. Her eyes were dancing with excitement. Excitement he had not seen since the fight she had with Lavanya. He wanted to hold her right there. Tell her that he will always be with her and would do anything to make her happy. Go to any extent to see that soft and yet huge smile on her face. Do anything to see the trust he saw in her eyes as she gazed at him. He stopped, realizing what he had just thought. He reminded himself that she had tried to ruin his sister's life. He could never forgive her what she had almost done. He quickly turned around missing the instant replacement of Khushi's smile with a hurt and sad face.

             Arnav said, " Yeh mat soche na ki yeh mein tumhara khushi ki liye laiyaha hon. Mein ye hiss liye laiyaha hon kunki ab tumhara naam mere saath joodirtha (joined) hai. Aur longe kya kahinge jab unhe yeh patha chale gai ke tumhara pass ek phone bhi nahi hai? Aur wasie bhi, Nani bhoot dinos sai keh rahi thi ki tumko phone ki zoorat hai. Iss liye laiyaha hoon."

            With that, he walked away to the bathroom turning back once to glance at her before he left. He saw her standing there with the phone in her hand forgotten, watching his retreating back with glistening eyes. Instantly he felt himself go weak in the knees. He wanted to go back to her immediately, and wipe those tears, which were on the verge of falling. He started to turn around to go to her but stopped midway. Without another thought, he forced himself to walk away from her.

            Khushi, on the other hand was not crying. The tears in her eyes were ones of happiness. Just the other day, she had been muttering about how if she had her own phone she could also talk to jiji whenever she wanted and she could also call him to ask when he was coming home since he always came home late. He had asked her what she had been mumbling about, but she had just blown him off. Obviously, he had heard her and hence gotten her a phone. She thought about how his eyes had changed in those mere seconds he had looked at her. How he had looked so peaceful. She could have stared at him like that for her whole life. Then his eyes had hardened and he looked away, turning around to go to the bathroom.

            Khushi knew that he hated her, but these occasional moments, when he looked at with that much intensity always threw her off. She wondered why she awaited those days when he would look at her like that and how she always remembered every single detail of the moment when it arrived. He still did not believe her when she said it was not her fault. He thought she had trapped Shyam into marriage.

            She smiled slightly at the memory and then hit number 2. He was on her speed dial though he did not know that. Even she did not know why he was on her speed dial. She just consoled herself that it was since he was her husband and she should have him on speed dial, you know, just in case.

            The phone rang and rang. No one was picking up. Her hands trembled with fear while she held the phone to her ear as if her life depended on it. Tears slowly started to roll down her cheeks as she waited and the ringtone died out. Frustrated, she called him once again.

            "Pick up! Pick up. Please pick up!!" she said softly not able to take the emotional tension anymore. 

            Just then she heard Anjali di calling her for dinner. Khushi quickly cut the phone and put it down on the bed. She went to the bathroom to wash her face so she did not like she had been crying. She told Anjali di she is coming and left the room with one last glance at her phone begging to light up and ring.
