I think he bought a fake degree with the loan money...! 

I think he did a lot more mistake then just getting loan for degree. Maybe he was a gambler and build a large tap. I know what ever it is is big  cause I can't imagine his live is on the line for just buying a fake degree 

@pyar-ishk - Yup! That's a better guess! But Mohan clearly mentions that he did a mistake not a crime! Even HC said the same in the interview!
