Mausam had a strong start in Rajasthan and CI especially in the single screens. The noon show at Rambha and Rangmahal in Bhopal was 100%. Rajasthan was very good with Jaipur having 80% collections over the first two shows.
The single screens in UP like Gurdev in Kanpur and Prabhat in Dehradun were also 100%. Overall the single screens have started on a better note than most multiplexes.
The multiplexes in the North also showed a better response in the afternoon shows and the film may eventually have a good to decent first day if the evening shows improve further. | |

| The much-awaited biggie MAUSAM fetched a heartening start at multiplexes of several centres. Places like Delhi, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur and Punjab in particular reported the best opening, while at several other places, the opening ranged from ordinary to dull. While the plexes reported better occupancy, the single screens weren't strong, despite the fact that the songs had become hugely popular prior to its release and the promotion has been superb. In fact, people within the industry were expecting a 90% + start across the board, at plexes as well as single screens. The reports of the film are extremely mixed. While the first half has come in for unanimous praise, it's the second hour that is attracting severe criticism. The response, therefore, is bound to be affected in days to come. It will be interesting to see how the film performs during the weekend as well as on weekdays, given the fact that it has no major opposition to contend with this week. Although Mausam got mixed reviews, the Bollywood stars who have attended the premiere yesterday night loved the movie. Check out the tweets.
Bipasha Basu, who was there at the premiere, tweeted: "Just saw Mausam is a Beautiful Film.Some scenes are so beautifully done tht u will want to fall in love. Sonam looks picture perfect n Shahid's performance was awesome n he really does justice to the IAF uniform.Wish them the best!"
Hrithik Roshan praised lavishly: "Mausam is a film made frm d heart 4 d heart. @shahidkapoor needs a flaw!perfect combination of strength n sensitivity. Sonam looks ethereal n simply honest! wonderful moments…beautiful journey! Bravo!"
Amrita Rao Shahid's first co-star, said: 'Hey twitterati..Mausam is a film of some really lovely moments between th gurl & th boy! ..shot exquisitely & Shahid was at his best!'
Rhea Kapoor is proud of her sister Sonam. 'Just saw mausam, so so proud of @sonamakapoor, she was so good!!! And the movie is epic. And very romantic. :)' she wrote.
