Why do Arnav+Khushi recognise each odr thru shoes?

1-When Khushi went to keep the laptop in Arnav's room and he came in,Khushi first saw his shoes

2-When Kushi went to apologise to Arnav,he first saw her shoes.

Why is that they recognise each other thru shoes.

i have read novels saying i recogised her scent,never have i ever seen this shoe recognising scenario

Actually Both recognises each other without seeing each other

They can sense each other's presence
