Johar had best find a way to become relevant to this generation.
His "lucky charm" has aged out of Karan's filmmaking abilities & vision so now he has to find someone new, and since everyone suspects upon what basis Karan casts his male stars the very fact that a man gets a lead role in a Johar film cuts his female fan base roughly in half.
SRK made it big in a world before such widespread internet access AND he made it big without Johar--- before he made it HUGE with Johar, but the point is SRK's public persona was already in place.
And B'town is changing rapidly, growing into more of a film industry and less a place that is run on star power alone. In other words he's going to have to cast based on talent and develop a less parochial and more grown up vision unless he wants to be labelled old fashioned or stuck making teen films as he grows ever older and ends by making himself look like a pederast with his casting methods.
Better he take some time off to do more thinking than partying.
