Part 4

 

The police had arrested Geet and was taking her. Tej stopped them. "aisa kyon kar rahi ho Geet?" he asked her. "sir mujhe yeh karna hoga. Apni family, bhai ka carer aur sab se phele mummy papa ke liye. Please sir" the police took Geet away. Tej turned to Brij. "Ab bhi sharam nai ai tumhe? Apni kiya huwa junha ka bojh apni behan par dal rehe ho?" Brij went to Tej and begged him. "Sir please meri behan ko bacha lijye, please sir." Tej looked at him fault-finding and replied "usse mein nai tum bacha sakhte the Brij, lekin tum toh...ab yeh soocho tum ghar ja kar kya jawab doge?" shaking his head Tej left from there.

 

Brij went back home. The house was dark. Confused he stepped in and every one came out shouting 'surprise'. Meera switched on the lights. Brij looked confused everywhere. The room was decorated with a cake place on the table. "Yeh sab kya hai?"he asked. "bhul gaye kya? Aaj apka birthday hai bhai." Meera stated happily. "Beta yeh Geet kaha hai?" mohindar asked looking out the door to see if she had come. "Bas fir kisi kaam ke waje se rukh gai hogi. Aag lage aisi jab ko."Rano replied disappointed "You know dad, aap foran phone kar ke di ko bula lijye." Meera told her dad pushing him to the phone. But brij stopped him. "Dad aap rukye, mein karta hoon." Mohindar nodded and Brij dialled a number which stated that the number was no longer valid. Brij just spoke in frony of his family. "hello Geet. Kaha hai tu?  Nai woh ghar par sab intezar kar rahe hai, kahe rahe hai tere bina party nai shuru karenge. Acha. Tikh hai." He placed the phone down and turned back. "Papa woh keh rahi hai ki woh nikal ne wali thi par kuch kaam ageya. Woh aa jayegi thodi der mein."

 

Geet was sitting behind the bars. It was almost 2 hours. Tears rolled down as she remembered what had happen. She had never thought Brij would stoop so low that he would steal. She had taken him to her office to recommend him for a job but... One of the female officers came and opened her cell and dragged Geet out. "chalo, tumara bail hogaya hai." Geet followed her out confused thinking who would bail her out. She went out and saw Tej. "Inho ne sari formalities puri kar di hai, ab aap ghar ja sakhti hai." the main officer in charge told Geet. Geet couldn't say anything; she just folded her hands in front of him as tears made their way down her cheeks. Tej held her hand and nodded placing one hand on her head and took her home. In the car finally Geet spoke up. "Sir thank you." "Jab tum ne kuch kiya hi nai, toh tumhe saza kyon hone deta mein. Aur haan, is chori mein tumhara koi haath nai hai, is liye tumhara job bhi safe hai." Tej replied assuring. "Thanks again sir. Aaj jo kuch bhi huwa, tikh nai tha." Tej laughed out slowly "anyway, what a eventful day today. Mera beta aaj London se wpas aya hai. Usse hi lene ja raha hoon." "Toh sir mujhe yahi age chod dijye, mera ghar yahi pass mein hai." Tej looked out and asked "are you sure?" "Yes sir." Geet replied in assurance

 

At Geet's home all were tensed. It was late and she hadn't returned yet. Mohindar was walking up and down the room. Meera went to brij who was looking worried. "Bhai kuch huwa hai kya? Di kaha hai?" Mohindar went up to them. "Tum do apas mein kya baat kar rahe ho? Brij Geet kaha hai? Kuch huwa hai kya? Tumne mujhe Geet se baat bhi nai karne di? Kaha hai geet?" he asked impatiently. Brij looked here and there not knowing what to say. "Mein yaha hoon papa." a voice came from behind and all were relieved to see Geet.  She came in. Brij panicked if she would tell the truth. "Di kaha thi aap? Aap bahi ke sath ane wali thi nah?" Meera asked. "Haan woh last minute mein kuch zaruri kaam a gaya tha is liye mujhe rukh na padha. Aur mein aap logo ki party spoil nai karna chati thi is liye meine Brij se kaha ki woh chala jaye, mein a jaoungi." "Aisa koun sa zaru kaam tha beta? Time dekho? Pata hai kitna baja hai?" Mohindar asked showing his wrist watch to Geet. Geet went and held her parents hand. "Papa abhi hum time dekh kar time kyon kharab kare. Chalo party shuru karte hai." Brij came and cut the cake as all sang happy birthday for him. He fed his parents and then his sisters. He wouldn't meet his eyes with Geet. Her parents were happy, that was all for Geet. Geet had decided she won't leave them and wouldn't let anyone come in between them...

 

The night was beautiful. The dark sky was glowing with the stars, cool breeze blowing with night bugs buzzing. Two of the person dressed in jeans and with t-shirt and jacket on top were sitting on their bikes with the helmet on while few spectators stood on the side of the track cheering. They rode off as one of the person signalled with a cloth. They made a round around the area, trying to beat each other to the finish line first. People on the side kept cheering and shouting for them. One of them came first and turned around taking his helmet as the other racer reach and parked in front of him. "kya yaar Maan?" said the second one said getting off his bike and taking his helmet off. "Yeh 4^th time tu hara hai Yash." Maan told him setting off himself from the bike. "Pata hai mujhe." Yash retorted back. Maan forwarded his hand towards Yash. Shsking his head Yash grabbed it. "Yeah yeah, congrats."  They hugged each other like buddies and walked towards the parked car. "Yaar tu humesha aise time pe kyon ata hai ki mujhe jana hota hai?" Maan looked him confused. "Dekh na, tu aya aur ab mein London ja raha hoon." "Acha hai, mujhe tujhe jhelna nai padhega." Maan murmured looking the other side. But Yash heard him. "Haha very funny."  Thats when they heard a voice from behind "Maan?" they turned and looked. Maan went and hugged the person. "hey dad." "hey beta, kaisa hai tu?" Tej asked breaking the hug. "How do i look? Bilkul fit nah? Aap kaise hain?" "Mein tera baap hoon, tikh hona meri majburi hai." "kya baat hai dad, mein London kya chala gay aap ka sense of humor improve ho gaya." "par tum nai badle. Aab chale ghar par sab intezar kar rahe honge." Thet bid bye to Yash and left. Maan drove back home. "aur ghar par sab kaise hain?" "koi khass badla nai hain." "dur jane ke badh yeh ehsass hota hai  ki apna ghar aur desh kya haota hai. I missed you all. Waise agar kuch khass nai badla hai toh batana mushkil nai hoga ki koun kya kar raha hai is waqt."  "Of course why not." "So let's start with dev. Dev humesa ki tarah gusse mein hoga aur appointments fix kar raha hoga, aur Dev ki dharma patni, naintara kisi party se lauti hogi, full makeup ke saath. Aur mom, well..." Tej laughed. "Good to know ki itne din dur rahene ke baad you remember them well. Lo ghar bhi a gaya."

 

Rano came with the thal and placed a tika on brij's forehead. "Bhagwan kare tere sabhi sapne sach ho. Tujh job hi chahiye, tujhe mil jaye." She blessed him running her hand on his head. "Madam, are you only going to bless him? mein baap hoon uska. Mujhe bhi mauka do." Mohindar said coming in front. He hugged brij and wished him all the best for future. Geet came forward and took the thal from Rano and did his arti looking straight in his eye. Not able to take her piercing stare, brij lowered his eyes. Geet put the tika on his fore head and said "bhai aap mom dad ko is duniya ki sabe kush ma baap banana chate ho nah? Bhagwan kare aap ki yeh wish is saal puri ho aur aap ko jaldi se koi achi job mil jaye."  "Geet, he is trying. Jaldi usse job mil jaye gi." Mohindar said placing a hand on Brij's shoulder. "Nai papa, mein toh sirf inka bhala soch kar kehe rahi thi. Ab dekhiya nah, bhai ke expense bhi din pe din ziyada hoti hogi, ab agar unhe job nai mili toh aisa nah ho ki woh uthavle pan mein koi galat kadam utha le."Geet finished with a bristly voice. Brij looked up at her shocked as all did too. "Bhagwan humari taraf aakh mundh ke thodi baita hai. Dhere dhere sab thikh ho jayega." Rano said. "kaash." Saying Geet placed the thal in Brij's hands and went to her room.

 

Maan was standing at the door while his mom took his arti. Once finished he touched her feet and hugged her. Dev and Naintara came and greeted him. "hey Dev." He hugged him. "hey bro.kaise ho aap?" "ek dum maze mein. Waise dekhna abhi mom bolegi 'kitna dhubla hogaya hai. Waha kuch kahne pine ko nai milta kya?" he said nodding towards his mom.  "idhar aa nah beta, ji bhar ke dekh toh lun." Pammi said caressing his face. "haye ram, kitna dhubla ho gaya hai. Waha kya kahne ko nai milta tha?" Pammi asked worried while all broke in laughter. "kya huwa hass kyon rahe ho? Dikhta nai such ke kata ho gaya hai. Ab chalo sab ander."

 

It was past midnight. Geet went to Brij's room. He was sleeping peacefully. Geet went and set next to him and placed a gift near him and whispered 'sorry' for being rude and kissed him on his forehead. She got up and tidied his room quietly and left to the kitchen. She stopped on her way as she saw the lights on of Meera's room. She went and looked in. Meera was talking on phone with someone and packing her stuffs in a bag. Once done she picked her bags and left. Geet followed her out. Meera went and set in a car which was waiting for her out side. Geet called out to stop her and ran behind her. But all in vain. The car drove away. Geet tried to stop a taxi and follow her.

 

Everyone was sitting in the hall and Dev and Maan were sitting in the middle with their hands clasped together trying to shove it down. Naintara was cheering for Dev and Pammi for Maan. "Come-on Dev, don't lose, humari izzat ka sawal hai." Naintara said as Maan pushed dev's hand down. "Sambhal ke Dev. Dev Kya kar rahe ho tum?" Naintara said in panic. "Arre kar kya raha hoon, dekhti nai kya kar raha hoon." Naintara's eyes widen. "So cheap." She turned around in anger. Maan looked at her. She was huffing and puffing. He let his hand lose and Dev bought his hand down. Naintara turned back surprised. "We won?" "Yes we won." Dev replied winking at Maan. "Yeah." She hugged Dev. "by the way, aap kuch bhool rahe ho veerji." Naintara said straightening up. "Bet lagi thi ki jo hare ga woh ja kar bhutte (corn) layega." "Bhutta?" Maan asked confused. "Yani corn." Pammi supplied. "Ab itni raat ko kaha se launga?" "Is sher ki kisi corner mein aapko bhutta wala mil jayega." Dev said getting up. "haan but problem yeh hai usse dhoondhna  aapko padhe ga." " itni raat ko kaha mile ga. Jane do." Pammi tried to save Maan. "Toh bet kyon lagai thi mom? Veerji aap bet hare ho, mukar maat jana." Naintara said. "Alright. Sab ke liye?" Maan asked giving up. "Haan bro." "Tikh hai."  And with that Maan left.

 

On the other hand, Geet was running in the middle of the road, trying to stop a taxi but either they were occupied or they wouldn't stop. Geet started to panic. All weird thoughts came in her mind. She tried to shove them away when suddenly a car came straight towards her. Geet stood frozen on the spot as the car stopped with a screeching sound just few inches away from her...

Poor Geet ek problem khatam nahi hothi ki doosri shuru...Brij ke kaand ke baad ab Meera ghar chod ke chali gayi...what'll happen when her parents come to know of it??Glad to see Maan finally...I wish he will help Geet n thus get to know her...waiting for the next update eagerly...
