If the writers have done their research, then they can do the storyling of Bharti's pregnancy properly.  That is that when a dwarf if pregnant, often there can be complications because her body is not large enough to carry a baby to full term.  This means that because her body cavity is so small, the growing baby can cause complications for her inner organs - the growth of the baby puts undue pressure on the organs.  This can potentially put the mother in danger, especially if the liver and intestines are pushed down and the lungs are pushed up.

Prior to a dwarf becoming pregnant, a doctor would have to do xrays and CT scans in order to determine how much space is in the body and whether it would be okay for her to carry the child.

I would think that Bharti and her parents would already know this because if they had a good doctor, the doctor would have cautioned her about carrying a baby when she became of marriagable age.

But, this is a serial, so it's unfortunately unlikely that the writers will do their research so that the storyline is realistic.

I was going to post something similar, but you've pretty much said it all.

The highlighted sentence is exactly what will take a complex and realistic issue and turn it into a farce. .  If as you say they really follwed a realistic line here, this track could be something really worth watching.  But what are the chances huh?!😡

perfect samirah!! thats how it should be shown to be realistic...later on, they can show it to turn out fine because there is every possibility of a normal pregnancy too...

Reading a little on this, and from what I can amount to, it's really rare for a dwarf not to have complications when she is pregnant, especially if the baby if not a dwarf.  It's the size of the baby like I said above.  Since Bharti is on the taller side for a dwarf (4 feet and above), the likelihood of her being safer increases.
But, there have been some cases I see where the woman has a more successful birth when the baby is also a dwarf ...

"PREGNANCY FOR DIASTROPHIC WOMEN (from http://www.pixelscapes.com/ddhelp/DD-booklet/)

Pregnancy for adult DD females can and does happen. A DD female generally will have an average-sized baby, unless her partner is also a dwarf, and sometimes even then the baby will be average-sized. Consultation with a genetic dwarfism specialist before pregnancy occurs is suggested.

A DD female's height, general health and internal area (space between bottom of ribs and hips) are some of the factors that determine pregnancy outcome. A complete exam by an obstetrician will determine if a DD female should attempt a pregnancy. The obstetrician will decide what will be a "safe total weight gain". This is a very important item to remember because it will affect breathing, ability to continue daily activities, the amount of room the baby will have to grow, and the duration of pregnancy. Most women report breathing difficulties as the pregnancy advances. Many pregnant DDs must sleep upright late in their pregnancy in order to breathe normally. There are no reported major complications during pregnancy, other than the usual "morning sickness" that seemed to last longer than expected, elevated blood pressure, cold feet and legs as the pregnancy progressed, and excessive weight gain.

Serial ultrasounds should be done to monitor the baby's growth and position. All deliveries are done by caesarean section and are usually planned to take place within 2-4 weeks of actual due date. This is a major complication even if it is planned. Tests are done of the baby's lungs to ensure full development. General anesthesia is used most often, although there have been reports of success with an epidural. In some cases, the baby must remain in the hospital a few extra days to gain those extra ounces before being released. Recovery for the new DD mom should be a speedy and enjoyable time of getting to know her new little treasure."

So, let's see what the writers can do with this storyline.

i will do my own research, samirah...but your input makes sense...
i have watched a lot of matt and amy roloff, but definitely not each and every episode. whatever i watched, i never heard amy discussing too many pregnancy complications. out of her four children, three are normal...
so complications, definitely...but normal kids and eventually safe delivery, very much a possibility!

Check out what I added to my posting ... some very normal pregnancies if the dwarf is above 4 feet - which I think that Bharti is ... the only thing is that the delivery was done by C-Section and also was done at 34 to 26 weeks as the baby would have been too big to carry past that point without lung complications.
I would be happy if Bharti could have children ... children are a gift that everyone woman wants!Edited by samirah23 - 12 years ago

@ samirah thanks for the input. It would make sense if they actually did some research like that.  I know even some women who petite do face problems with pregnancy. But with proper monitoring, regular check ups and proper care, medically it is possible.

My cousin has a heart condition, when she was a teenager, the doc said it would impossible for her to have children but she did coz she had a good doctor, who took care of her case and doc even wanted her to deliver normally but she opted for a c-section.  I guess we just have to believe in ourselves and things can happen, insyallah.

It would be nice if CVs showed something positive instead of rhona dhona. It would be a great morale boost for anyone with shortcomings not just dwarfs.

Finished reading all the post under this thread. Not sure why people are surprised / shocked / tumbled over to hear that Murli is going to be a daddy!

I mean, did you see that family? Mridang pretends to be big bad macho babe but fact of the matter is, in that family, only Murli is a mard! Only he wears the pants in his relationship with Bharti AND everyone in the household. So it is only appropriate that Mard ka bachcha pehle paida ho!

Can you imagine Kaushu with a baby? Baap re!

As for "so soon", is it not normal in MOST Indian homes to have a baby within first year of marriage? Or am I still living in the 1980s?

🤣🤣  What a way to put it!

As for Mridang, he's always taking his cues from his wife anyway.  Woos!
