"Monsoon also signifies cleanliness to me as everything around looks clean and sparkling. Though I hate getting drenched, it's nice to sit by the window and watch nature over hot chai and pakoras. Monsoons also make me feel like creating good compositions." Jack of many trades, Amit Tandon shot to fame with Indian Idol. He was immediately handpicked by Ekta Kapoor for a pivotal part in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Quiz him on what's next and he's quick to retort "Right now, there's a daily soap -Saath Saath Banayenge Aashiyaan and a dance based reality show-Zara Nach Ke Dikha. I am also awaiting the release of my album next month; it's tentatively titled Tanha and has 12 original tracks." Quite a handful for a newcomer "There's no problem in doing different things if you have the confidence and conviction of doing them well. Thankfully, I have been able to get all my performances right." Well, almost. He recently showed up in poor form for Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar. Reason? "The reason was that I let my nerves get the better of me. All the other contestants have been doing stage shows since a long time, while I faced the crowd after almost three years. But I was better in the subsequent episodes and was among the top three too," he justifies. Is it true that he's being considered for Ekta Kapoor's Mahabharat? "That's news to me! If Ekta comes up with something interesting for me, I would definitely take it up since she gave me my first break on television. But I don't see myself doing it as I cannot relate to doing a mythology." Are films on his agenda next? "Why not? I am waiting for my album to release, which should give me better visibility, and I can start pursuing films. I really feel that there is a lot of untapped talent on television that could get its due in films. And why should there be only 5 superstars? There's room for more," he says laughing. How has life been on the personal front? "It's almost a year and a half since my marriage, and I feel it was the smartest decision of my life. Ruby is a unique combination of beauty with brains. She's a stunner. People tell me that she should be in the entertainment field, but she is completely dedicated to her medical profession," gushed the hubby. Life couldn't get better for Amit, a resident of Oshiwara, Andheri. "I reside in one of the posh buildings of Lokhandwala. It's a convenient location for me with good restaurants, the mega mall and work close by. I am proud to get a house like that in such a short time in the entertainment industry." | ||
