The film was heavily hyped before release due to the A list cast resulting in excessive media focus on the film. It however failed to do well at the Indian box office.[1] This was attributed to lacklustre reviews and to a certain extent the competition it faced from Devdas which was still strong in its third week. The film however performed better overseas.[2]
