WEEK ROUND-UP

Wearing a beaded/lace see-through Eric Tibusch gown Mallika made her first appearance on the Cannes red carpet today. What? Were you expecting something else?

We really shouldn't be surprised at the pick. The gown is sooo up Mallika's alley. The problem is that the hair and makeup is not quite gellin with the rest of the look. I think Ms. Sherawat should've gone that extra inch and done something dramatic with the hair/makeup too!

For her cameo in the TV series Sasural Simar ka, Urmila picked an Anita Dongre Timeless. We aren't fans of these long anarkali style suits but Urmila looked nice.

I never pegged Sonam to be a Birkin girl. Turns out I was half-wrong. Why half? Because in this case Ms. Kapoor didn't use the bag as the primary but more as a luggage item which is what the Birkin HAC should be used for.

Having said that, am not a fan of the oversized Hermes Birkin HAC (Haut Courroies). In fact, hate it. That's not the case though with the Ferragamo Sofia (the light blue bag on Sonam's other arm). Love it!

When Fashion Critic (of RCFA) posted Freida in this Peter Pilotto dress while just out and about we were quite surprised. The dress just seemed too striking to be worn for a just-a-stroll look.

For the photocall of her new movie Heroine, Aishwarya went a more casual route in a Lanvin silk trench-dress.

With the weather being so gloomy (during the photocall), the dress failed to pack a punch and I would have rather seen her wear tan sandals vs the satin black ankle-straps.

It was an Ibella dress for Raveena at a recent premiere and as lovely as she did look in that black number, the hair earned her an Almost. Pity really coz' the dress works really well on her but the hair instantly dates both her and the look.

On an aside, looks like the tinseltown ladies have discovered Ibella by Ramona Narang in a big way!

It was Armani Priv for Ms. Rai Bachchan on day two of Cannes Film Festival and we've got to say we like. The dress sure came as a surprise, it being a lot more stronger with it's sharp lines when compared to the more softer numbers she seems to usually favor… Not that we are complaining.

This time around the make-up was perfect and loved the addition of the cuff to the look.

Priyanka Chopra at a recent launch was spotted wearing a slinky, short Gaurav Gupta number teamed with sparkly Christian Louboutin heels. Like Dia or Anushka, PC has a very distinct and unmistakable personal style and her most recent appearance proves that once again. One we may not agree with always but unmistakable it is.

Wearing a Gauri and Nainika gown, Minissha looked absolutely lovely on the Cannes red carpet. The gown worked really well on her and the accessories were just right. No complaints here. We like.

Dia kept it simple in a Bebe dress which she paired with some sky-high pumps. Nothing really to dislike here… Not much to get excited about either. She looked good!

Sequined dresses from Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna are quite the celebrity favorite and the latest to be spotted wearing one was Sophie at the designer duo's store launch. She paired the dress with a BV stretch knot and metallic peep-toe pumps. You like?

It was a Gaurav Gupta dress again for Ms. Sinha and once again, we loved the look head-to-toe. She looked goood.

Wearing a one-shouldered Elie Saab couture gown, Aishwarya kicked off Cannes 2011, which will see a record number of appearances on the red carpet by Bollywood folks.

We've seen this James Ferreira on quite a few folks and worn in different ways. The latest to be spotted in one and wearing it as a dress was the newly crowned Miss India, Kanishtha. You like?
