A: Hello.
Caller: Hello..
This time its a sweet soft yet loud voice...
A: MASSI!!!!!! KAISI HAIN APP!!!
M: Main bilkul teek hoon. Meri Arohi puttar kaisi hai?
A: App ki puttar bilkul teek hai. Bas apko hi yaad kar rahi thi. Aur sunao, Gauri aur Billu kaise hain?
M: Tere paper khatam hoye tho Gauri ke shuru. Aur Billu ka school tho next week khatam ho jayega. Ma se tho baat karao.
A: Voh, maasi.. Hum thodi dair baad phone karte hain. Hum khana kha rahe hain.
M: Acha, teek hai.
Amrit: Phone tho deti!
A: Maa, we're eating. I'll call leter.
Fifteen minutes later, Sudhir gets up to leave for work and everyone finishes eating.
Amrit: Chal, ab apni maasi ko phone kar. Kitne din ho gaye baat nahi huwi.
Just then, the phone rings and I pick it up again.
Again, that deep voice speaks again, "Hello, maasi ko phone do"
A: Excuse me, I think you have the wrong number!
Again the same conversation occurs except this time, instead of hanging the phone, somebody snatches it out of his hands.
"Kyun merey puttar ko tang kar rahi ho?"
A: Maasi, app? Billu itna bhara ho gaya hai kya, meri awaaz bhi nahi pehchaani!
M: Mazaak bandh kar aur Amrit ko phone de. Mujhe tho bhool hi gaye ho!
A: Nahi maasi.main tho serious thi par app hume bhool gayi hain! Ma tho bas apka naam leti rehti hain!
Ma snatched the phone and started speaking.
Am: Savita baji, kaisi hain app. Hume tho bhool hi gayi Na koi phone Ka kuch! (Pause and does work while talking) Acha, phir tho maza ayega.. pata nahi itna waqt jho beet gaya hai.. haan, bachon ki graduation celebrate karna hai na! Ji baji. Ab phone rakhti hoon.
Arohi: So ma, kya baat ho rahi thi maasi se.
Amrit: Bas, teri graduation ke baad, hum Canada ja rahe hain. Gauri ki bhi tho graduation hai na. Aur teri liye ek suprise! Par usse pehle, hum Lancaster hokey aayenge. Yaad hai, papa ke ek friend, rudra uncle. bas unse aur unki wife kumud aunty se milne.
Arohi: Ma, they're so boring!!! aur love bhi nahi hai vahan aur nahi salil bhai!
Amrit: Bas do din ki tho baat hai. papa ke friend hai tho unko bhi tujhe mubarak baad dene ka ek mauka dena chahiye na! aur pata nahi voh aa gaye yah nahi..
Arohi: ughh FINE! main rajveer aur raj ko samha loon gi.
Amrit: Thank you beta. Varna pata nahi kya karti!

Edited by brainychild92 - 12 years agoSo a couple days past and we land in Lancaster. Convincing those two monsters was torture! Rajveer is just too much, you know what he said? Dr. Rudra and Kumud aunty's house was so boring, their kids couldn't stand it and left! Yeh Rajveer na.. Kabhi nahi sudre ga! Anyways, now that that is finally over, we have arrived!
Dad wasn't staying with us so the boys got one room while mom and i shared one. I didn't mind because it gave me a chance to hang out with mommy before moving out. Unfortunate for us, Love and Bhaiyya were not home.. they had summer classes. The first day went smoothly and today was the second day, well night now. They boys went to sleep early ( I think out of boredom but I had to be a good daughter--BLAHH), so I joined mom and aunty for tea.
Kumud: Arohi. you have gotten big sweetheart! Now that you are out of high school, what are your plans.
Arohi: I'm going to Edinboro to study Psychology.
Kumud: Isn't that a little far.
Arohi: Well, i'll stay on campus.
Kumud: Wow, you a re a big girl. Leaving the nest and flying off!
Arohi: (rolls her eyes) Wapas tho idhar hi aana hai na.
Kumud: Idhar kyun? Apne sasural jayegi na?
Amrit: Kyun dara rahi hai Kumud. Jab waqt aayega tho dekheinge.
Arohi: Aunty, meri umar hi kya hai. I want to do my masters at least before i think about getting settled down. Aur vaise, love ne bhi tho abhi tak shaadi nahi ki na, aur voh 2 saal badi hai mujhse. Aur bhaiyya hi mast hain life mein. (He's four years older).
Kumud: Usse bhaiyya kyun bulati ho beta. Uska naam Salil hai.
Arohi: Same thing aunty. Ab bohat late hogaya hai. I'm tired. Mom app nahi thaki?
Amrit: Haan Kumud. Ab humein sona chahiye. We'll meet at breakfast (and Arohi and Amrit leave upstairs to their room).
In the Bedroom:
A: mom, kitni annoying hain!
Am: Beta, ab is baath mein to sochna hai na.
A: Seriously! ma!!! wait.. you mean you think about this crap?
Am: Crap nahi hai. Zindagi ki sachayi hai. Tumne kabhi apne life partner ka nahi socha?
A: Of course i have, but I'm in no hurry to find him! Kyun, app ne socha hai (in a teasing tone)
Am: Kyun nahi socha hoga. Aakhir meri ek hi tho beti hai.
A: Kya socha hai (Teasing her further)
Am: Maine tho yahan tak dulha ko bhi chun liya hai!
A: Wah. Mujhe pooche bighar? Uska naam tho bataiye!
Am: Arjun
A: Arjun? Do I know him?
Am: Mausi ka beta... Gauri ka bhai.. Rajveer ka dost...
A: Really? woh buddha! eww! maa, he's like six years older than me... and I haven't even seen him in like two! I'll never be able to see him in the same way again!!!
Am: Chal chup kar aur so ja. Meri pasand poocha aur jab bataya tho itna suna rahi hai!
