I dont know Roopa... but done understand why would  a body double be used for a scene of few seconds ...

they use body doubles more frequently girls cz one scene is shot in various angles and some times lead actors, don't like redoing da same scene over & over...

May b this body double was the mother of the baby, so baby was crying and when the lady lifted it the baby was quiet..
