Chapter Twenty Nine

Jagtap Dada

He looked at the odd couple before him, and glanced at the carved tree, and back again, kaun ho tum, aur yahan kya karne aye ho, he asked with a deep stern voice, yeh main tumhe batana zaroori nahin samajh ta, answered Dutta without any fear.

The bald man had started laughing in front of him frantically, as he lowered his gun, as though he were mocking them on their face, he than glanced over Dutta's shoulder to take a look at the dark girl hiding behind the tall man, who seemed to be guarding her as a shield. When Dutta saw his eyes wander over his shoulder towards Naku, he instantly moved in the same direction to block his view, whilst keeping his stare on him at the same time, trying to indicate that he was watching him every step of the way.

The stranger begun laughing again, and made a remark, lagta hai apna honeymoon jungle mein maanane aaye ho, he said sarcastically, tumhari patni hai na, acha hai, lekin koi achijagah lejaate usse, he said laughing again, and turning around to leave, thinking he'd obviously made a mistake in recognising who they were.

As soon as the bald man had turned his back, Dutta had without delay pulled out his gun and pointed it at his back by telling him to stop, which he had, but Naku had immediately held Dutta's hand and nodded a no to him, while husband and wife were busy talking through each others eyes, trying to understand what one another were saying to each other, Naku tried to tell Saab not to fire, but by the time she'd spoken the odd man had turned already to look in their direction.

Dutta had left no delay in asking him, who he was and what he was doing there, but he'd only answered with a smirk and told Dutta to take a shot, ...maut se kaisa darr, chala goli, dekhte hai ke yehkhatam hota safar ya phir kuch din baaki aur hai... he said baffling both Dutta and Naku, as to the fact that if his sentence was really an answer to Dutta or to himself.
Aye...bandh kar yeh naatak, aur bol tukiske keliye kaam karta hai, tu Anna ka aadmihai na, questioned Dutta not lowering his gun.
Anna, yeh naam mein aajpehli baar nahin sun raha, aur batao iss Anna ke baare mein...replied the man who was now considered the hostage.
Bandoohk teri kopdi mein hai, is liye sawal mein karunga...jungle se nikal ne karaasta batao aur woh bhi jaldi, mujhe faltu waqt barbaad karne ki aadat nahin hai... he said fiercely, only to find the man giving funny and confused looks on his face, as if he couldn't be bothered to even answer to Dutta's style of temper, as it was unnecessary, and instead begun laughing again, and looked at Naku, and said ..mujheiske sawal karne ka andaz acha nahin laga, he said as he walked away without even looking to Dutta. But a couple of seconds later, Naku had called out Dada... making the third party stop in his tracks, upon hearing her innocent voice, and at the same time making Dutta give her a glare and telling her off for speaking above him, but when they looked back at him, he was staring at Nakusha, it seemed he had some kind of concern on his face, when he looked at her, his eyes were vicious yet concerned, his forehead was full of creases due to wonder with questions of his own, even Dutta felt a pause in him to wondering what this man was staring at Naku for, making him feel his finger for the trigger while he kept an eye on this man.
As he finally came back to his sense the man had answered, ...to mainetheek kaha tum dono pati patni ho, tumhararishta khaafi gehra lagta hai, aur tumhari nishani bhi, he said indicating to their carved names in the old bark, ...batak gaye, jungle se bahar nikal na hai, tho theek hai aajao mere peeche...but as soon as he'd said these words, Dutta had felt the need to inch closer to him with the gun in his direction, but the man paid no interest to Dutta, he'd just looked at Naku, and told her to follow him, ...chal be-ta... he said in two syllables, ...tu chal, he looked at Dutta and said, ...abhi mujhe tere saath chor siphai nahin khelna...tu sochta bohut hai, chalega tho bachega, rukhega ga tho phatega... he turned to Naku and told her one last time to come, ...tera ziddi pati bhi aajayega tere peeche peeche, he added as he walked away.

Naku didn't want to disobey Dutta but she had a gut feeling that this man could guide them out of the jungle, rather than them hoping that Baji might find them, so she looked at Dutta with confusion but tried not to make eye contact and followed their new lead without saying a word, Dutta had looked on in shock at Naku, how could she not listen to him, but than he rolled his eyes and thought was there ever a time she'd listened to him, so instead he had no option and followed his wife just to keep her safe, but at the same time looked around his surroundings to make sure there weren't any hidden men or something just in case this guy was a fraud.

The new guy had led the way and guided them through the jungle for quite some time now, but than after a while he'd come to a stop and warned the couple of their steps they took from the hereon, but Dutta had too much pride to pay attention to him and so acted like he weren't bothered, when Naku had tried to tell him to listen, he'd moved his arm away from her as in telling her not to touch him, leaving Naku shocked, when she asked ...kya hua Saab, he'd blanked her fully and walked on.
Naku had felt a little taken back, why did Saab behave with her like that she wondered, as she followed on carefully. When suddenly they heard Dutta's roar and when they looked back Dutta had fallen into a booby trap set in the jungle for animals and various prey, which Dutta had just recently become. The bald guy started laughing at him, while Naku was panicking with concern and calling out Saab, he'd lowered towards Dutta to help him up, but not without making a remark, ...ache khaase is jungle mein pas jaate hai, dekh main bhi kahan nikal paya hoon aaj tak iss jungle mein, par mujhe to pyar se rokha, tujhe tho gusse se rokh raha hai, he said as he came and helped Dutta out.

Saab aap theek tho ho na, asked Naku, but Dutta had just pulled his hand away from her again, ...teri wajeh se ho raha hai yeh sab, tujhe uske peeche peeche jaana tha na, kya tum apne pati ki baat nahi maan sakti thi, he blasted at her while trying to keep it in a whisper, ..lekin Saab Dada humarimadat kar raha hai, she said helplessly, ...ab yeh ajnabee tera Dada ban gaya, kya woh tera itna sagha ban gaya ke tune uss keliye meri baat ko nazar andaaz kar diya, he argued back, ..nahin Saab maine humare liye unki baat maani, taake hum yahan se jald se jald nikal sake, she tried to reason, but at the same time trying to keep their argument under wraps from her new elder.

But the man had heard what he needed, and told Naku not to worry, ...paagal hai yeh tera pati, kahan se dhoond ke laye tu iss sarial ko, he said as he looked back at Dutta, ...itni chot lagi hai, lekin ab bhi maskari kar raha hai, but than when he saw Nakusha's worried face, he told her that his house is near and not to worry so much, ...ghar jaate hi isse haldi waala dhood pila dena, he finished as he walked further on.

Dutta looked at Nakusha like he was shooting daggers from his eyes, while Naku just had a feeling in her stomach knowing that whatever her Dada was saying to Dutta, will pay a heavy price for her later, and to top things Dada had been favouring Naku since the start of their journey, and constantly insulting Dutta in front of her, and Naku knew he wasn't used to this kind of attitude from people. So Naku had gulped down and started walking again, but Dutta grabbed her hand with force and pulled her back and said, you... pointing a finger in her face, ...you better stay behind me do you understand, wherever I put my steps first you'll put yours in exactly the same places, enough of you trailing that freak, he said in frustration and literally spitting the words out, as Dutta stared at the guy's back he had a right mind to shoot him in the head that instance, but his thoughts were abrupt-ed by Naku running to keep up with her Dada again, but this time Dutta grabbed her hand and held onto it, tujhe ek baar samajh mein nahin aata kya, tu mere saath rahegi, and in anger he kept his grip on her hand strong and not letting go until they finally reached the house of their host.

Kya tum dono ghunge ho kya, asked their host, you didn't even speak throughout the whole journey home, he said finally introducing himself as Jagtap, as they entered his residence, which looked like a cottage from Walt Disney animation, it had a small type of lake running nearby, and few short steps towards the door, trees all around, although the trees near his home were fruitful, there were oranges, apples and pears, and beneath on the ground there were various types of vegetables growing, like it were an allotment deliberately digested in the heart of the forest, everything about his home looked natural yet none of the things visible to the eye were, 'cause either they seemed too fairytale, or either they were man made, even though agriculture hadn't breathed here in the forest, in regards of the environment to be fit for civilisation it looked as if this was a personal pad for someone that had everything but chose to have nothing, strange as it sounded that was the only to describe the whole sight.

When they entered his cottage, it seemed as if the house was catering for two people, there were already two plates left on the dining table, which was made from a tree split in half, and placed on a stand, there was loads of lumber in one far corner, suspected for firewood, a bottle placed in the centre as a candle with a splint inside of it, this man was living in the stone age for sure, thought Dutta as he let go of Naku's hand, but before they could absorb everything in, Jagtap Dada had told Naku to set the tea on the home made fire, chaar cup chai ke banana be.ta, he said, but when he saw her confused look, he felt the need to tell her that the fourth cup was for Paaki, and moved away from there.

He'd asked her their names, as he knew Dutta wouldn't be a sport in introducing himself personally, but Naku had immediately told their names, much to Dutta's irritation.
With much hesitation Naku had managed to ask if he was living alone, and why he was in the jungle, but Jagtap Dada had brushed it off by laughing again and saying he was this jungle's Tarzan, making Dutta look at him and think what a nutter, he's crazed Dutta knew it, and his wife was thinking he was the hero of the day, she seemed to get on with him pretty comfortably, Dutta had looked around him while Jagtap had wandered off somewhere outside, and noticed a newspaper cutting stuck on the wall, he looked very familiar, thought Dutta as he observed the picture closely, there was something odd about it, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Baji and his crew, along with Gaurav, had been in the jungle for hours now, but they couldn't find any trace of Bhau or Nakusha anywhere, but after much search, they'd noticed footsteps trailing in one direction, but it was of a single person, and the print was rather large, as they followed the trail, they'd been lead to a burnt out fire, and two smaller ones around it forming a triangle, when Gaurav saw this he knew Naku was safe too, way to go girl... thought Gaurav, as he explained to everyone that this meant they were waiting here seeking help, but the carving on the tree hadn't gone unnoticed, Baji and Gaurav just looked at each other and wondered what the hell that meant. As they were about to carry on with their search one of their men had noticed a couple of people trailing them, here, and told Baji they were being followed so that they could lead them to Bhau, and so Baji had told his men to split up and go separate ways and lead them in the wrong direction, make markings on every tree, and confuse the hell out of anyone that's trying to use us as a lead to Bhau, said Baji, he knew that Dutta and Naku were safe, and he'd make sure that it stayed that way.

Who's this man in the picture asked Dutta, as soon as he saw Jagtap Dada come back, but as usual all he did was laugh, and told him that he's the man that gave me everything I wanted out of life, simply because I killed him, ...haan maine, maine uss ko maar daala...azaad kar diya usko, he said as he gave Naku the earthen cups to pour the tea in. Dutta just looked at this weirdo, and getting more and more alert.

Dutta had tried to ignore Naku when she gave him the tea, but took the tea anyway, and Naku was beginning to get bothered by his petty tantrums. Jagtap Dada could see the tension between them, and said he needs the tea more than anyone as he needs to cool his mind, garam dhimaak se sochte ho issiliye aaj museebat mein ho, akdhoo kahi ka, he mumbled the last two words while taking the first sip of his tea, and watching Dutta fume at him but instead screwing Naku, obviously holding her culprit for being object of Jagtap's sarcasm, and leaving from there to go outside.

Dada...er, aap yahan akele kaise rehte ho, she asked with hesitation, arre main akela hoon yeh tere ko kissne bol diya, main yahan apni patni ke saath rehta hoon, he said looking all around him, and at the last cup of tea that hadn't been drunk, dekh yeh chai bhi to ussi keliye hai, woh tere saamne nahin piyegi, lekin har roz hum dono apna naashta aur khaana sab saath mein karte hai, he said, making Naku absolutely confused, but he told her to go and attend to her husband instead, his hand had been injured when he fell.

Saab, aap ko chot lagi hai, laaye main aapki patti kar deti hoon, she said, mujhe nahin chahiye teri patti, he answered, aap zidd kyun kar rahe ho Saab, she asked back, main zidd kar raha hoon, tu uske peeche peeche lagi hui hai, aur tu keh rahi hai ke zidd main kar raha hoon, kya tuje pata bhi hai woh kaun hai kaha se aaya hai, agar woh koi Anna ka aadmi huwa tho, agar tujhe kuch hogaya tho, lekin tu hai kekuch samkajh na nahin chahti, meri baat sunne ke bejaye tum uski baat sun rahi ho, aur woh meri bezzati kar ne kakoi bhi mokha khaali nahin chod raha, aur mere saamne meri biwi ko mere khilaaf barka raha hai, he said getting more and more heated up with every word.
Lekin Saab woh sirf humari madat karna chahta hai, woh hume iss jungle se bahar nikaalega...but before she could finish, Dutta interrupted, tujhe zyaada pata hai, ke kaun humari madat karna chahta hai, aur kaun nahi, tu mujh pe bharosa nahin kar sakti thi, main tumhe kuch hone deta kya, he questioned back to her. Aap itna gussa kyun ho rahe ho, mujhe laga ke hum usske bataye huwe raaste pe chalte tho, hum yahan se jaldi nikal jayenge, pann aap to aur bhi gussa hogaye, but than when she realised his grazed hand, she tried to reason with him and tell her to let her bandage his hand up, so the bruising will stay soothed, but he wasn't interested, but before she left he held her back by her hand and told her to stop, grabbing one corner of her duppatta he ripped it off one end straight down with ease, and than looked her straight in the eye and began tying it around his wrist and weaving it through his thumb and forefinger and than tying it a knot together tightening it with his teeth, and looked at her and said ab khush. All Naku could do was nod her head in a yes, but than Dutta made it clear, ...that don't mean your off the hook, while turning away from her.

Naku had gone back inside and sat there wondering if Jagtap Dada was really going to help them or not, Saab was suspecting him, but Naku felt the guy was genuine, she could tell he was attached to something or someone, preferably his wife, but she was no where to be seen, she noticed a mangalsutra wrapped around his wrist, and a locket self made, with the pendant being some sort of sack of white material, threaded through a thick black cotton, which he would consistently talk to, making Naku wonder what happened to his wife, 'cause she was clearly not here, but he was making sure of her presence all around him.

Dutta spent most of the time outside and sulking about the fact that even after him telling her to stay away from that freak, she still left him outside and went and accompanied him instead, he could hear the whole time what they were talking about, but even Dutta himself had wondered what the mystery with this man was.

Tum dono kya pyar bohut gehra lagta hai, lekin kuch hai jo mujhe sahi nahin lag raha, said Jagtap Dada to Naku, making her wary about her colour and suddenly making fluff about with her outer appearance. But Jagtap Dada had caught onto her sudden fear, and laughed it off saying that's not what I meant, I mean generally what you have seems strong, but for some reason looking at him I've got a feeling that he won't be able to hold onto you, when the time comes and believe me the time will come, he won't be able to make the right decision, he's too hot headed and that gets in his way of making a wise decision, he needs to let go of his ego, and he needs to start learning now how to tame his mind, ...kyunki jab waqt aata hai, tab khud ka saaya bhi saath chod jaata hai, aur iski khopdi itni sar phiri hai ke yeh sochta hai ke sabkuch apni muthi mein kas kar rahkega to iske paas surakshit rahega, lekin pyar ko aise pakar ke nahin, pyar ko azaad rakhna chahiye, kyunki jab woh azaad hota hai, to apni marzi se ghumta hai, aur jab tak woh tumhare paas hai, woh waha apne sache mann se saath nibane keliye rehta hai... he looked at Naku's worried face, which clearly stated something was wrong, definitely something big, but he didn't ask what it was, but instead decided to tell her a story, all the while they heard the earthen pot cracking outside against the concrete floor, clearly stating that Dutta had heard what Jagtap Dada had said, but he didn't care, if he was speaking it was only because he wanted to be heard, and so the story goes Naku, he started, ...dhyan se sunna be.ti, kyunki iska sabak samajhna bohut zaroori hai.
Yeh Kiski kahani hai, asked Naku before Jagtap Dada started, ...aap ki, and when he looked down in remorse, she knew well what the answer was, ...haan, he replied.

There was a girl that I fell in love with a very long time ago, her family never approved of me, because of my wealth that I had attained through bloodshed, people feared me just by hearing my name, I was so powerful that I had become blinded in my wealth and power, but that never made me stop loving Paaki, I always loved her, but the problem was that her brother was one of my closest friends, and he would often use my help to collect large sums of money from people that never owned up on time, our friendship grew over the years, and so did my love for Paaki his sister, we'd loved each other like tomorrow would never come, but when her family found out about our love, they refused to hand her over to me, and her brother had broken all ties with me.
They tried to get her married against her wishes but two days before her marriage we eloped, this move of ours had sparked off whatever little fire that was left between me and her family, her brother had tried to hunt me down and get me killed, by various hired hit men, but no one could touch me, I was literally the meaning of untouchable, eventually my mind had gone so out of control in rage, of the enmity that had grown between me and her brother it had reached a point of dog eat dog, whatever I wanted to do he would be sure to get in my way, and I his.
Paaki had enough of it all, she kept telling me that the power of money would bring the death of her one day, but I wronged her every time by telling her that there weren't a thing on this planet that I couldn't buy, I became so rich and so feared, I had everything in my life, the two things people struggle with all their lives. Eventually I was so caught up with making money, that I begun to give it most priority in my life, never giving anything else importance, Paaki once told me that she'd become my second wife, and that my first wife was money, she always said to me stop while you're ahead, ...ekaisa din aayega jab tumharapaisa ek haath mein, aur tumhari sabse anmol cheez ek haath main hogi, aur tab tume ehsaas hoga ke woh anmol cheez paiso se kabhi nahin kareedi jaa sakti, aur jab tumhe pata chalega tab bohut der ho jayegi, lekin Jagtap kya tumhe lagta hai ke koibhi aisi cheez hai jo tum paiso se nahin kareed pao ge, she asked, and my answer was of course not, money had most power everything had a price, and anything that didn't weren't worth being mine, I said to her. My money can buy better than that anmol cheez, there was a price on everything in this world, and no price was too big for me.
But than one day I'd heard that some other foreign gangsters were on the hunt for Paaki's brother, because he'd borrowed a huge sum of money that he couldn't pay off in time, and when they found out his sister was married to one of the biggest and wealthiest gangsters in the city, they'd picked up his sister and held her ransom, for 10 crores cash within four hours, I was out of the area that day by the time I'd reached home and got a message drawn on the worktops with Paaki's blood that she'd been kidnapped, that was the first time I felt fear in my whole life, my whole world had shook in that one instant, and I was left flabbergasted, I couldn't think, when I looked at the clock, there was only half and hour left to get the money, of course I had that much cash lying around, but the main thing was that her brother knew, but he didn't ask for my help, he thought he could free his sister himself, just so he could prove to her that I didn't care about her, but by the time I'd got there with the money in my hand, there was already a shootout going on in that place, there was murmur that the police had been informed and that they were on their way, by the time I rushed into the isolated place, I saw her alive for the last time, for one split second, when the man had slit her throat right before my eyes and she'd died instantly, the man fled from there upon seeing me, and before she fell to the ground I caught her instantly in my arms, I didn't even get to tell her how much I loved her, the only thing she ever heard from my mouth was how much I loved money, but all she ever said was she hated money, she hated anything that was materialistic, she always said to me lets leave, lets go somewhere far away where no one will ever find us, but I never listened to her, and than when she was lying dead in my arm, and I held all the wealth in my other, I realised what she'd meant when she said god will show me the true meaning of value, and when I learnt the value of it, all my wealth in the world couldn't bring her back to life. It couldn't bring back her love to me, her touch, her companionship.

But I didn't give, tho kya hua agar un logo ne Paaki ko maar daala, lekin ab dekho yahan sirf main aur Paaki rehte hai, bilkul wiase jaise woh chahati thi, dekho mujhe ek paise ki zaroorat nahin hai. Aur maine apni Paaki ka chota sa khwab bhi jeeliya, dekh woh abh bhi mere saath hai. Woh hamesha kehti thi, ke mujhe ek aise insaan ka pyar chahiye ke jab main uske paas raho woh sirf mujhe pyar kare, aur jab main uskepaas nahin rahungi woh mujhe usse bhi zyaada pyar kare, bas, he smiled in regret, and repeated the lines, bas, itna hi chahti thi woh, aur maine usse dediya, he said again.

Kaun kehta hai kepyar karne walo ko saath rehna zaroori hai, agar ek duniya se chala gaya tho iska matlab yeh hai ke woh ab uss insaan se pyar nahin kar sakta, busdil hote hai woh log jo apne pyar ki khatir apni jaan dede dete hai, mujhe dekho meri Paaki raakh ho kar bi zinda hai, maine abhi tak uski astiya Ganga mein nahin bahai, kyunki jab tak main zinda hoon Paaki ko mukti kaise mil sakti hai, isisliye woh mera intezaar kar rahi hai, jab iss raakh ki tarah main bhi raakh main mil jao, aur phir hum dono phir se janam lenge, aur apna pyar phir se zinda karenge, he said holding onto his clothed pendant.

When Naku saw him holding his self made locket, she couldn't understand why he was talking to it, but before she asked Jagtap Dada, he'd already answered, when Paaki died, along with her brother who was killed in the attempt to save her, her parents had taken custody of her body, and prepared for the funeral but refused to let me see my Paaki, but I wouldn't let no one separate her from me, so I stole her body a few hours before the final rituals begun, and I took her away from the clutches of the world and burnt her here alone, but the strangest part was that I couldn't let go, because of my self centred attitude I lost the best thing in my life, and when I turned to leave that day with her ashes, I couldn't, I could never leave her, our vows were 'till death do us apart', but at that moment I knew that even death couldn't do us apart, I punished myself by staying alive without her physical being, but I will keep my love for alive forever, until we unite in heaven, and than be together once again.

What's to say you're going to be reborn, said Dutta, not being able to help himself from interrupting, I mean how can you give advice to someone, when you don't know what truth is it your looking for, said Dutta.
Jagtap Dada just looked at him ridiculously, you seek difficult answers for difficult questions son, but what you don't realise is it's only difficult because it's you that's asking it, tell me clearly what it is you're trying to say, asked Jagtap Dada.
Tum kehte ho ke tum apni patni se jab milo ge tho tum dono phir bi saath honge, lekin agar agle janam mein tumhari patni kisi panchi ke roop mein aagi tho... asked Dutta tactfully.
So, what's the big deal in that, the answers simple, I'll be whatever she'll be, if she's a bird, than I'm going to be a bird too, replied Jagtap Dada, looking at Dutta as though he were a fool to ask such a question, let me tell you something Dutta Shriram Patil, being miserable don't get you anywhere, believe me I've been there and done that, overlooking all the bad things and seeing only the good will make you a much happier man, trust me happiness is not something you find and keep, happiness is probably the only thing in the world that can only be multiplied by dividing it with your loved ones, when you find that one thing that makes you happy hold it close to your heart with all the strength in the world, and he looked over at Naku, and said ...you know you've found it, so make sure you never let her go, if your steps ever stumble remember that true love don't come around knocking on your door again and again, and the day you come close to even losing your love, always remember one thing, once you have loved hard and lost, the next love won't come easy, haan yeh baat sach hai ke sache pyar mein bohut mushkile aati hai, lekin har museebat keliye hal zaroori nahin hai, yeh yaad rakhna Dutta, uss museebat ka saamna karna zaroori hai, woh bhi apne jeevan saathi ke saath, tab hi mushkil khud tere se door chali jayegi, tumhari buri aadat yeh hai ke tum har baat ko bohut badi banana chahte ho, but if you take that problem and deal with it as if it was nothing, than you will always overcome your weaknesses, I promise you that. In simple words the problem is only a problem if you see it as one, he finished, knowing that both of his guests didn't have a clue on what he was on about, but the time will come when you will realise what I have told you today, he carried on.
God has put the greatest barrier between me and my love, but I have overcome that, because here I stand today still residing with my life partner, her body resides with me in form of her ashes, I never left her, and she never left me, after the day I burnt her I remained here and forever will, I'm living her dream with her, I planted all the trees with fruits, I grow my own crops, I fetch my own water, I live without the most essential thing in this world, money. When I had money I treated my love as second priority, but today I have my love and money has no priority in my life.

Dutta and Naku just looked at each other but before they could say anything, they'd heard gunshots being fired in a distance, nobody had time to react, Dutta quickly grabbed Naku first, and placed her against a wall for cover, and Jagtap Dada, had pulled his shotgun out ready to go oustside and fire, and shouted to Dutta to take Nakusha and run straight towards the east of the forest and not look back, they would come to stream running through the forest and were to follow it through which will give them their lead to the main road, run, he told them.

Nahin Dada hum tumhare bager nahin jayenge, said Dutta, aur main Paaki ko chod ke nahin jaunga... answered Jagtap Dada, ghubraonahin, mera waqt aagaya hai mujhe to bas issi din ka intezaar tha, meri beti ka kayal rakhna Dutta, aur koi bi faisla lene se pehle apne iss Dada ko yaad zaroor karlena, ab jaa jaldi jaa, aur peeche jaakna bhi matt chahe kuch bi hojaye, main agle janam mein tujhe panchi ke roop mein milne aaugna, he said laughing again like nothing was happening, nahin Dada, cried Naku, itne shub mokhe par rote nahin beta, tere Dada ko apne paap done ka mokha milgaya hai, ab jaa apne Dutta ko sambhal, he said caressing her head in a fatherly manner, and than he ran out of the cottage, firing rapidly, without any cover.

Dutta held Naku's hand and lead her out of Jagtap Dada's cottage, against her will, they ran and ran until their breathing became difficult, when suddenly they heard Jagtap's roar in agony loud and clear echo in the high trees of the forest, they looked back in shock, Dadaaa... Naku screamed back in anguish, she had lost control to her emotions and tried to run back, only to be held by force around her waist by Dutta, who tried to control her as much as he could, Nakuuu he shouted, but she wasn't listening to him, Naku...hosh mein aa, hume yahan se nikal na hoga, tumhe Dada ka waada yaad hai na, chal jaldi chal, he ordered trying hard to hold his own discomfort back.

They carried on running and when finally they reached the stream, where they both had a moment to break down, Naku had cried uncontrollably, Dutta couldn't see her like this, her cries were tormenting him more than Jagtap Dada's loss, it was hard to say but this was the truth, and the worst part was there was nothing he could do to console her.
After that they'd walked in silence, until they reached the main road.

When they looked back at the jungle into the wild, it was like they had been woken a from a dream, that everything they'd witnesses was some kind bizarre realm that had turned into reality just for the time they'd been lost. Dutta had promised Naku that he will go back and make sure he did the final rites for Jagtap Dada, so he could reunite with Paaki, Naku was unable to say anything and just hugged Dutta instead for comfort, Dutta couldn't tell her to stop crying because he knew the pain was too much, and to tell her that her tears were paining him would be a selfish thing to say at a time like this.

They walked along the road, and Dutta tried to keep small talk to keep Naku's mind off things, but when Dutta mentioned about going home, Naku had looked at him confused, and than Dutta had realised why. Don't worry Naku, main sab sambhal lunga, iss jungle ne mujhe shaant kar diya hai, ab mein aisa koi bi faisla nahin lunga jisse tume dukh ho, main PatilNiwas mein jaate hi sab ko humare baare mein bata dunga, he said holding her face on both sides and giving her assurance through his eyes.
And than after some time they heard Baji's voice shouting Bhau..., they finally found them after all this time, well hardly finding thought Dutta, because they'd found their own way out of the jungle, but who cared anyway, Dutta was knackered, and he was sure Naku would be too, when Dutta saw Gaurav hug Naku tightly in a bear hug he clenched his fists together, but tried hard to stop himself from creating a scene, as he didn't want to hurt Naku, he watched as he was wiping away her tears.

They sat together in the back of the open jeep, and Baji and Gaurav seemed to be getting on welltoo, thought Dutta as they sat in the front of the jeep, and chatted away, Naku tu theek hai na, asked Baji, tujhe thand wand tho nahin lag rahi, he asked from the front, upon saying this Gaurav was about to remove his shirt and was about to hand it over to Naku, but before he did Dutta quickly took off his waist coat and gave it to her instead, but than when he saw Gaurav's creased eyebrows towards his changed behaviour he somehow liked it, and instead leaned forward and placed the coat around Naku's shoulder's himself, and than held one of her hands too, but Naku had pulled her hand away in discomfort but casually, she wasn't used to that kind of treatment from Dutta, especially in front of people it made her uneasy. Gaurav and Baji threw each other suspicious glances as regards to the rescued couple, but didn't say anything further.

They stopped at a tea stool on the way home, to warm themselves, Dutta told Naku to stay in the car and he'll bring her tea to her, but rather than bringing two cups he'd only bought one and then sipped his own tea and gave her the same cup on the sly, he don't expect me to drink his tea does he thought Naku, getting embarassed by his act and so she refused by nodding her head, but Dutta insisted on her to drink his tea from his cup, but Naku had shied away and nodded her head in a no once again, and than to ruin the debate, Gaurav had bought a cup of tea for Naku, which she accepted straight away, she knew this bothered Dutta, but she couldn't just drink his tea in front of everyone, she couldn't help but feel shy by the gesture, and so accepted the fresh cup from Gaurav, knowing this angered Dutta, but what could she do right now, anyway, he didn't exactly give her a chance to say anything.

Dutta had sulked on the rest of the journey without paying attention to her at all, so when no one was looking Naku tried to reach out for his hand and hold it, but he pulled away sulking about the tea scenario, she tried to say sorry with her facial expressions and eyes, but Dutta simply looked the other way and scratched his chin like he weren't bothered.
