Story so far
Shantanu is a famous singer. After performing a string of concerts he decides to have a break and goes to a picturesque small village away from limelight and all. There he meets Khanak who is entirely opposite to what he is. She is a chatter box, live wire, bubbly etc. They fall in love and vice versa. After a whirlwind of romance, both sides approve and they get married and she moves to Mumbai and slowly comes to terms with his life style.
Present..
A very amused voice said from the door way, 'Isn't what funny?'
'Shantanu!' Khanak exclaimed, surprised to see her husband at this time of the day. Khanak watched him move into the room and nodded at Gopi who came to visit them. It was at times like these she found it difficult to keep her heart out of her eyes. He was so handsome in the late afternoon. She was not sure why. May be it was the hint of a faint stubble or the fact that his hair was mussed or may be simply cos she didn't often get to see him at this time of the day.
'So what have you two ladies been discussing?'Khanak looked at Gopi and when she nodded she said, 'Gopi has fallen in love.'
'Really?I would like to meet him.' Both Khanak and Gopi were stunned. 'I am your brother after all and that's what brothers do.'
All three talked for few minutes or rather the girls talked and Shantanu just sat there with an amused expression as the ladies chattered away.
Gopi stood 'I should be going. No, don't see me out,'' she added when Khanak and Shantanu stood to escort her out. But Khanak linked her arm with Gopi's nd informed Shantanu that she would be back in a second.
'I will be waiting' he murmured watching the girls walk away.
He wasn't exactly sure why he returned home early today. He had lots of work to do and compose a song but try as he might his heart wasn't in it. He had this most ridiculous urge to return home and see what Khanak was up to.
Khanak walked into the room with a radiant smile on her face and Shantanu felt his breath catch. It was rather ridiculous how he reacted to her smiles. He watched Khanak as she chose to sit opposite him and wondered how he could get as close to her as possible.
'Shantanu? Are you listening to me?' He looked up. 'Were you?' Khanak persisted. He blinked like an owl and grinned sheepishly. Khanak rolled her eyes. 'I was saying that we should invite that boy for a dinner to see whether he is good for Gopi. What do you think?'
Shantanu was still lost in thought and he mumbled something. He realised that Khanak stopped talking .He looked at her and said ' I have been actually thinking that as a brother albeit an adopted one, I ought to help her parents in any way I can.'
He looked up and saw she was close to tears and he was worried. Before he could say anything she leapt into his arms and hugged him. 'You are such a sweet man.'
Having accomplished the task of getting Khanak into his lap (in the most unexpected of ways),he slid his hands around her waist and said 'Not sweet, may be most handsome, dashing-' he trailed off.
He smiled to himself and pulled her closer. They fit together nicely, he thought.
Shantanu couldn't resist the soft silkiness of her hair and he threaded his fingers letting it slide across his hand.
'Do you know what I think?'
He heard her smile as she asked 'What?'
'I think we should go to our room.'
'You do?' she asked feigning innocence.
'Yes. Do you know what else I think?' he said huskily. 'I think.' he let his hands slide through her hair again and swept it on to her shoulder, his fingers playing with the dori of her dress, 'that if we don't go, I might be content to remain right here.'
'Here?' she squeaked. 'Now?' She knew she was babbling but then Shantanu always had this effect on her. He knew this was the only way to render her speechless. 'Here?' she repeated again.
Shantanu was amused. 'Didn't I already answer that?' he replied back playing with the dori of her dress, loosening it slightly to see her reaction. He slid his other hand up her arm and proceeded to untie the dori, letting his fingers caress her bare back, revelling at her soft skin and her reaction to him. He continued caressing her back and touched his lips slightly to her neck and felt her tremble. He knew he was teasing her in turn teasing himself. He just let his lips slide back and forth on her neck to her shoulder, arms firmly around her waist.
'Shantanu..' Khank whispered, 'I think we should-'. Before she finished her sentence, he lifted her up in his arms and looked down down at her his eyes so dark with passion. 'We what Khanak?' he asked gravelly. She just shook her head and slid her hands up to his neck as if in invitation.
He laid her down on the mattress, his eyes never leaving hers. He climbed on to the bed and crawled toward her, inching closer and closer until her elbows slid out from under her and she was flat on her back, staring back at him, her breath coming fast and shallow. He stroked her cheek with the back of his fingers and slid them down her lips tracing them with again and again, watching her intently.
'Shantanu..' Khanak whispered softly. He had never seen anything as beautiful as her lying down, looking at him with her heart in his eyes and waiting for him. 'You are so damned beautiful that you take my breath away.' he murmured thickly and inched closer to her.
