According to TV Line, the CW is looking for another possibly recurring actor for The Vampire Diaries. The character, Vaughn, is described as 'ruggedly handsome, built and tough as hell'. They are looking for someone with a charming accent, either Irish, Australian, or Scottish.

He's one of The Five hunters, and he's very comfortable with his place at the top of the supernatural food chain. He knows a lot about Damon and uses it to get the upper hand. What he doesn't quite understand, though, is how strongly Damon feels about Elena. In the same episode (413), we'll meet Caitlin, another recurring character. She's a woman with a profound and surprising impact on Professor Shane, and she'll help shed some light on his motivations.

When Stefan ({Paul Wesley) confronts Damon (Ian Somerhalder) with a suspicion about Elena (Nina Dobrev), Damon has no choice but to help Stefan investigate. Searching for answers, Damon and Stefan visit modern day New Orleans to see if they can find anyone who remembers the events of their last visit in 1942, including one of Damon's former flames, Charlotte (guest star Madeline Zima). Elena, Caroline (Candice Accola) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) share a girls' night while the Salvatore brothers are out of town, and emotions run high when Elena delivers some shocking news. At Hayley's (guest star Phoebe Tonkin) urging, Tyler (Michael Trevino) confronts one of Klaus' hybrids, Kimberly (guest star Alyssa Diaz), and the situation quickly escalates into violence. Finally, Damon is faced with a heartbreaking decision.
