Warning! Spoilers for Vampire Diaries Season 4 ahead!
You might start confusing Elena and Katherine (Nina Dobrev) in Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries — and not just because they're doppelgangers. According to what Nina Dobrev told E! Online, the new vampire is going to be much more hardcore.
"This
season is really intense, for me especially because I am a vampire,"
says Nina. "I'm getting to kick some more ass. Elena is becoming a tough
cookie. Before she used to talk about being independent, and now she
has a chance to be."
We're all for Elena being Miss Independent,
but don't expect her to grow fangs and hop right into the takedowns.
It's going to take a bit for her to get her bearings, and she'll need everyone (that's both Salvatores) to ease the transition.
Then maybe she'll find herself inside a Kelly Clarkson video?

The season 3 finale of The Vampire Diaries left viewers with a huge question: would Elena become a vampire? The answer, as we know, is yes. But it's the journey that she now embarks on that's going to be interesting. How will she adjust? How will her various relationships be affect? We've screened the season premiere and we have some teasers to share with you.
In Transition. Elena is understandably horrified by the possibility of becoming a vampire at the beginning of the episode, despite acknowledging that her potential transition is a better situation than Matt being dead. She goes through all of the expected stages of the transition, including a strong desire for blood, heightened senses and wacky emotions.
The Council Rises. The vampire hating members of the Council have taken over, folks! And they're looking to make all of the supernatural creators - and their sympathizers - pay for the lax security in Mystic Falls in recent years. The first thing they do is round up some of their enemies and demote a few others.
Damon, Thy Name is Anger. Where Elena first wakes up is just the beginning of Damon's anger. He's furious by what's happened to Elena, but doesn't want her to give up and die. Still, he goes to significant lengths to take that anger out on people.
Journey to the Dark Side. Bonnie makes a choice to go great lengths - and risks personal safety - in order to save Elena. This leads to unexpected consequences which are compounded when Klaus shows up, demanding that Bonnie return to him to his own body. Let's just say that the price she pays to save her friend and give in to Klaus' demands are high.
The Triangle. Elena does remember some important things she had been forced to forget. She then spends an important portion of her transition period with Stefan - in less than ideal circumstances - and reaffirms her love for him. Elena is comfortable with the choice that she made in the season 3 finale, no matter what she might recall now. But where does that leave Damon? With even more anger.
(this seems like more than a synopsis😕)
After completing her transition, Elena is still struggling with becoming a vampire. Once again Stefan and Damon disagree about what's best for her. Damon thinks she'd be better off drinking human blood, but Stefan doesn't want to see her go down the same dark path he did. Damon tells his brother that there's no way to stop that from happening. Elena tries things Stefan's way, but the "vegetarian" diet isn't working for her. Damon has a solution, but let's just say that doesn't go well either, especially once Stefan finds out what his brother has been up to.
Caroline and Tyler are enjoying their (naked) reunion or trying to anyway. Caroline can't help feeling guilty about all the people who died. They get interrupted when the mayor gets a visit from Connor (guest star Todd Williams). Tyler heads downstairs to find out who his mother is talking to and when Connor reaches out to shake Tyler's hand, something tips him off that Tyler is a vampire. But luckily, Tyler is also a hybrid and not a normal vampire because Connor's next move is potentially lethal.
Connor doesn't stop there. After investigating the scene of the explosion, he finds a letter that the pastor left for his daughter and keeps it for himself. Connor is on a mission and it's pretty obvious right off the bat that the vampires are going to have their work cut out for them avoiding the new hunter. But something happens between Connor and Jeremy that people will definitely be talking about Friday morning.
The pastor's daughter April (guest star Grace Phipps) is the other new character introduced this week and while she's new to viewers, she does have a history with Elena and Jeremy. But what's most interesting about April is how she becomes a pawn in someone's plan and needs to be rescued. Her savior might surprise people.
Other highlights of the episode include Tyler stepping up into a role he hasn't gotten to play often and a touching tribute to characters that have been lost. But as names are recited, it's impossible not to notice that most of them have something in common: they were all killed by or because of Damon.
Another word of warning: this episode is extremely bloody, particularly one scene in the church bathroom. If you're squeamish, you might want to look away. But whatever you do, don't forget the tissues.
