The more we think about it, the less likely it seems like The Vampire Diaries will kill off Klaus (Joseph Morgan). Despite his recent mooning over Caroline (Candice Accola), the hybrid is a genuinely chilling character, and the series has only scratched the surface with him. YetStefan (Paul Wesley) is vowing revenge, and no one seems quite willing to let Klaus live out his days in peace. Oh, and the hybrid wants to build an unstoppable army, so that's a pretty big con of keeping him around.
So if Klaus can't live but the producers aren't quite ready to part with him, well, he can always go on the run again, right? That seemed to be what Joseph Morgan was hinting at in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
"He's wanted dead by the majority of Mystic Falls by now so the finale for Klaus, a lot of it is going to be about trying to survive. He's going to make sure he secures Elena's [Nina Dobrev] safety because she's his source of doppelganger blood. If things start getting too hot, it's going to be about making his escape intact — and I would imagine he's going to want Elena and Rebekah [Claire Holt] with him."
That would be quite the twist to end Season 3 on. Maybe the way to draw out the love triangle between Elena, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), and Stefan (Paul Wesley) is to have her disappear from Mystic Falls for awhile. Then Klaus could tromp through Season 4, with Rebekah and Elena in tow, as the Salvatore brothers try to save the woman they love…
The Vampire Diaries | We start this week off with a dip inside the reader mailbag, and a question dear to many a TVLine editor's heart, courtesy of Marilla: "Do you have any Vampire Diaries/Bonnie Bennett spoilers?" Right? We expressed our own curiosity about Bonnie's storyline in last week's 20ish Questions column. Let's see if Julie Plec can sate our thirst. "Bonnie hits her emotional threshold this week, but don't despair," the exec producer tells the Inside Line. "She finds a nice bit of hope when she gets closer to Jamie and takes him as her date to the Decade Dance where he gets a glimpse of Bonnie the hero in action." Works for us!
Now that the Originals have set up shop in Mystic Falls, there are two blonde vampires fighting for dominance at the high school. It's like Mean Girls with fangs whenever Caroline (Candice Accola) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) get in the same room. The ancient vampire has a thing about teenage girl milestones, so when it's decade dance time again, you know Bex is going to have some opinions about the shindig.
Executive producer Julie Plec said that in Vampire Diaries Season 3, Episode 20, "Do Not Go Gentle," Caroline and Rebekah will have a "mean girl power struggle" over exactly which decade they should choose for the dance. According to what Candice Accola told Zap2It, the two cheerleading bloodsuckers facing off is going to be fun to watch. "My favorite scene is between Caroline and Rebekah, when Rebekah decides that she wants to be part of the dance," Candice says. "There's a really fun scene between them. I really like their cadence of dialogue. They don't like each other at all, but even though they can't stand each other, there's still an underlying current of mutual respect, which gives them great moments."
Unfortunately for our favorite Barbie vamp, Rebekah comes out on top in the decade dance war. While Caroline wants to take it to Funky Town with a '70s dance, Rebekah insists upon the Roaring '20s — and gets her way. As long as they play "Yes, We Have No Bananas" at the dance, we're all winners.
