Ok, so why does the family think that MSK is a "dumb,hopeless,rude ,arrogent and characterless guy"?

dumb, hopeless = The man can speak. The man is always hopeful. Grandma should now courier the "audio" recording of MSK's speech at the reception. Or the radio station should do a repeat telecast of the programme when MSK voiced his feelings to Geet (before they played Maahi).
rude, arrogant = Err ... it takes one to recognise another. In any event, the audio recording and the radio show would disprove this too.
characterless = Do they know of Sameera? I don't think Nandini has told the rest of the family of the deeds of Dev whom she mistook as MSK.

PS: I still blame my contrariness on the vagaries of the weather.
