Proper diet is essential for diabetic treatment. It helps patients suffering from diabetes in their course of treatment. It provides relief from symptoms and various complications in diabetics. Many diabetic patients can control their blood glucose by losing weight and that is possible only by proper diet.

People with diabetes are twice the risk of developing heart diseases, so they should reduce the intake of saturated fats, and cholesterol like meat and dairy products that are major sources of satuarated fats. Instead, they should make use of unsaturated and mono unsaturated fats like mostly vegetables oils are high in unsaturated fats and olive oil is a good source of mono unsaturated fat. It is the healthiest type of the fat.

Eating right is a key step to preventing and controlling diabetes. Fortunately, whether you're trying to reduce your risk of diabetes or manage a pre-existing problem, you can still enjoy your favorite foods and take pleasure from your meals. But if you are not eating healthy, you may need to rectify this habit soon, for a healthier and disease free lifestyle. The key to a healthy diet is eating in moderation, sticking to regular mealtimes, and eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

 Here are the some tips which are essential for diabetes patient:

1. Intake of carbohydrates: Focus on healthiest carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetables, wholegrain, legumes, beans, peas, lentils and low fat dairy products.

2. Fiber rich food are also impotent for them as fiber decrease the risk of heart disease and helps to control blood sugar level. The foods which includes high fiber are vegetables, fruits, nuts, wheat bran.

3. Intake of good fats: Foods containing monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats such as avocados, almonds, pecans, walnuts, olives, and canola, olive and peanut oils helps to lower your cholesterol levels.

4.The patient of diabetes should not skip their breakfast.

5. They should consume small meals at regular times.

6. They should keep their calories intake the same.

The food which should be avoided by the diabetes patient:

1. Saturated fats
2. Trans fats
3. Cholesterol.
4. Sodium.

Diabetics have greater needs of nutritional supplements for fulfilling the metabolic requirements of the body. Non starchy veggies, skimmed milk, high fiber fruits and low glycemic food products are smart choices for an informed diabetic.The diabetic patient should drink plenty of water & should
not eat sweets & sweet food also.

The 'diabetes diet' would be a VERY good diet for everyone to follow, as it as totally balanced in just what the body needs and eliminates excessive carbohydrates. In fact, if everyone followed the diabetes diet, practically no one would get Type 2/adult onset diabetes!
