Ajmer,India:
It was soo hot and dry... all one cud see was the huge dry sand dunes and the vast,empty desert.. Gaurav was finding it quite difficult to cope up with the climate.... he had no idea that it wud be this bad although he had studied abt the climate of the tropical deserts quite a lot... he felt almost ill.. he sipped some water(carefull nt to use it up whole as there was a scarcity of water too) and said to the driver of his jeep--- bhaisaab wo jagah aur kitni dur hain?
the driver--yehi kuch 5-6 mil aur...
gaurav sighed.. that meant another hour in this situation.. he closed his eyes...
he was on the way towards a royal palace,wich was open just for foreign tourists... their company had arranged for his residence there so that it wud be easy for him to study the ancient culture of Rajasthan,needed for the project... as he wud get all old records and paintings there....
It was believed to be the most magnificient palace among the ones kept open for tourist residence..
It initially belonged to a Rajput maharaja.. Sumer Singh.... frm whum the british took it over... The palace still had remains of its original glory...and it contains some rare paintings..of wich gaurav had decided he wud take snaps and include them in his project.....
after an hour he reached there.. the driver opened the gate for him and took his luggage inside.. gaurav climbed out of the jeep,weary,tired and sweating.... bt.. as soon as his eyes fell on the view in frnt of him.. his tiredness wased away within a second.......all he cud say was---OMG....its beautiful...!!!!
the driver came out after few minutes and said--sahab ji andar chale?
gaurav nodded and followed him.. with evry step,he began to emerge himself in the beauty of the palace... the interiors were more splendidly kept and managed.... and it seemed to him that he had reached..by some time machine in that glorious past of the maharajas.... gaurav smiled pleasantly... THIS HAD ALWAYS BEEN HIS ONLY DREAM... TO DISCOVER THIS INDIA...

sahab ji ye aapka kamra hain...---the driver took him to a grand marble room,beautifully decorated with numerous paintings and other accessories...
wow..!!!---gaurav had nvr expected that he wud stay in such a royal bedroom..---this is simply outstanding.. bht accha kamra hain.. thnk you..
he turned towards the driver and gave him a penny,he bowed in respect
gaurav--waise..yahan mere siva abhi aur koi hain kay? mera matlab agr mujhe kisi chiz ki zaroorat padi to...
the driver-- sahab ji abhi to tourists ane ka samay nhi hain..isiliye aap akele hi hain yahan... par palace ka caretaker dono log hain yahan pe.. wo niche ke malle mein rehte hain.. yahan apke darwaze ke bahar ek bell hain.. use bajane se wo dono upar aa jayenge.. aapko koi taklif nhi hogi....
gaurav-- jee shukriya...
the driver prepared to take his leave--to fir sab ji hum chalte hain.. aap aaram kijiye...
gaurav thot--haan.. aaj ka din main pura aaram hi karunga...ohhh!!!! he lied down on the soft bed....and closed his eyes.....
he didnt know for how long he had been sleeping wen suddenly somethng reached his unconscious brain and it woke him up.. he sat up on his bed..feeling lil uncomfortable... he rubbed his eyes and tried to figure out wat happened... a chill breeze came in through the open window.. blowing the curtains away... he then realised that it had turned vry cold,agen the desert weather.. as soon as the sun goes down.. it becomes quite chilly...
so thats the reason--he thot and smiled to himself... then he rose up frm the bed and walked towards the window to close it.... bt stopped and gazed at the view outside..... the moon had risen and it looked so beautiful against the dark sky that he forgot evrythng and stared at it with bewildered eyes.. nvr had he seen anythng so appealing before.... the vast desert looked all silvery and shone in the moonlight....and the chill breeze blew away the sand slowly.....
suddenly,gaurav heard a vry faint,unusual sound.. he concentrated and realised that it was coming frm the corridor outside his room.. he closed the window and crept out of his room... the sound became clear.. at frst he cudnt get wat it was bt then he slowly he realised that it was the sound of anklets... vry soft,bt vry clear... it seemed as if a girl with anklets on her feet was walking slowly along the corridor....slowly,softly..as if in a dream..... he followed the sound,carefully nt to frighten the girl... he climbed down the stairs and reached the main door... the sound of the anklets drew closer... it travelled outside the palace....gaurav followed it still...and walked out into the desert... after few minutes...he suddenly saw someone.. a girl in a lehenga...walking slowly ahead of him.... in the darkness he cudnt see the colour of her dress or anythng else... bt the sound of the anklets now accompanied sound of bangles too...
he called out to her--hey...!!! kaun hain waha?
the girl stopped walking... gaurav shouted once more---kaun ho tum? wahan kaha jaa rahi ho?
the girl slowly turned towards him... he strained his eyes.. bt cudnt see her face...it was dark.. the moonlight outlined her dress and it seemed that she was glowing..... just then a gust of wind blew some sand into gaurav's eyes... he cried out and covered his face with his hands.. rubbing his eyes vigorously he got rid of the sand particles and opened his eyes once more....bt to his utmost surprise,the girl was gone.... vanished into thin air..... he ran to the spot where she was standing a few seconds before,he turned back and forth.. looked around him... no.. she was nowhere.......
a strange fear rose inside him... he had read abt the ancient legends and myths of these palaces.... and all the supernatural activities wich were believed to occur in such places... he turned back and ran towards the palace at once..... he stopped only after he had reached his room and closed the door behind him.....
it took him some more minutes to be normal once agen.... then,catching his breath... he rang the caretaker's bell...
after two minutes an old man came inside and bowed--aaone bulaya hain sahab ji?
gaurav--haan.. wo mujhe bhuk lagi hain kya aap mera khana la sakte hain..
the man--haan zaroor... he was abt to retire wen gaurav called him-- suniye...!!
he turned back--jee?
gaurav---accha kya yahan koi ladki rehti hain?
the man--ladki? nhi sahabji..yahan to koi ladki nhi rehti?
gaurav---ok thk hain..aap jaiye.....
the man left...
gaurav cluthched his shirt tightly..his hands started sweating----to..fir...wo kaun thi..?
the window panes flung open and once and a gust of wind blew in...making him jump.......
