Gossip Girl Season 4, Ep6 Full Recap & video

Easy J

Let's start with Nate and Juliet. After they spend the night together, she dashes off. But then Nate goes to visit his jailbird dad at the local penitentiary—only to find that Juliet is also there. The storyline goes from kind of dumb to monumentally stupid when Nate asks Juliet what's going on, and she spins a silly lie about volunteering in the prison's literacy program. Because he's pretty but simple, Nate accepts her obviously false story—even when she abruptly announces that her class has been canceled and walks away from him.

In reality, of course, Juliet went to the prison to visit Ben, her Serena-hating, incarcerated brother. When Ben calls to ask why she didn't show up for her visit, she lets him know that she bumped into Nate at the prison. When they hang up, evil Ben sics a few other inmates on Mr. Archibald.

Juliet's on the verge of telling Nate the truth about her mysterious mission that night when he gets a call letting him know that his father's been beaten up. As soon as Nate takes off, Juliet gets a text from Ben: "Did you get my message?" How, exactly, does Ben have a cell phone in prison, we wonder for the hundredth time?

There's even more stupidity afoot on the Upper East Side. Serena spent the night with Colin, a.k.a. Cab Stealing Guy, a.k.a. Joan's horrible husband on "Mad Men." She arrives on campus the next morning to find out that he also happens to be her new Business Psychology professor. Of course.

Colin likes Serena so much that he persuades her to drop his class so that the two of them can continue seeing each other—starting that night at a New York Observer party at The Boom Boom Room. (Side note: there is no way that money-hemorrhaging paper could actually afford to throw a lavish gala at one of the most exclusive clubs in New York, unless it were a fundraiser to save the New York Observer.)

Blair, meanwhile, is livid when she finds out that Jenny has resurfaced. The aspiring designer is in town for one day only so that she can do an interview with Tim Gunn. She's hoping that Tim will be impressed with her work and write her a letter of recommendation for Parsons, to which we say: 1. Jenny is a senior in high school. She can't enter Parsons without getting her diploma, and she certainly couldn't start attending school there in the middle of first semester. 2. One recommendation letter does not automatically get someone into college, even if that letter does happen to be from Tim Gunn. Especially since Tim hasn't worked for Parsons since 2007.

In any case, Blair heads over to Lily's and lays down the law for Little J. She commands her not to go anywhere but her interview, and demands that she not talk to anyone while she's in Manhattan. What's even more ludicrous than Blair's rules, though, is the fact that Jenny actually intends to abide by them—until Chuck tricks her into going to the Empire, which triggers Blair's minions to strike back at Little J.

They exact their revenge by defacing Jenny's collection (another side note: since when does a simple interview entail showing off an entire collection's worth of outfits?), painting letters on each dress so that the five of them together spell out "wh**e." Tim is appalled, and Jenny's livid. Chuck then pounces again, inviting her and her entire family to come with him to the Observer party—conveniently enough, Tim Gunn will be there too, so she'll have another chance to apologize to him.

Things come to a head at the party, as they are wont to do in this show. Lily uses reverse psychology to convince Serena to put her studies in front of boys, for once, and S leaves the shindig without Colin. She drives home that she will not be sleeping with him by showing up at his apartment late that night. When he hears her news. Colin tells Serena that his class only lasts for seven weeks—there are no classes at Columbia that only last seven weeks and begin in the middle of a semester—and that he'd like to keep getting to know her until the course is over.

Jenny's apology goes well, until Tim lets slip that Chuck got her the interview in the first place (side note three: so how, exactly, did she think she got the interview? Was Jenny under the impression that Tim Gunn just woke up one day with a burning desire to speak with Jenny Humphrey? Ugh). That reveals to Little J that she's been a pawn in Chuck and Blair's games since she returned to New York.

J retaliates by telling Gossip Girl that she lost her virginity to Chuck, and the news summarily gets distributed to everyone on GG's blast list. Side note the fourth: we're really expected to believe that nobody outside of the main cast knew about C and J's tryst until now? In any case, the tactic works; Blair's humiliated. But Dan tells Jenny that by doing what she did, she's turning back into the same social-climbing monster she was before she left for her mother's.

Jenny takes his words to heart and decides to leave again, first taking the time to tell Chuck and Blair that she's better than they are. Oh, and that they should get back together. The former power couple end the episode by making an uneasy truce.

And then, right before the credits roll, the most outlandish thing of all happens. Juliet shows up at Colin's apartment, looking for a check from him… and telling him that he wasn't kidding "when [he] said it would be a challenge." So now Professor Smirky and Juliet are apparently conspiring together to bring Serena down. Whatever. If her secret is that she's a prostitute, we're quitting this show.

P Recap

War at the Roses

Although Blair made it perfectly clear that Jenny Humphrey (Little J) was no longer welcome in Manhattan after what happened with Chuck, Jenny is tempted by a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Tim Gunn (Project Runway), which could be a game changer for her future. Meanwhile, Serena discovers something about her new boyfriend, Colin (guest star Sam Page), that may put an end to their relationship just as it was getting good.

Okay, I'm totally curious to know what Ben's in prison for!!! Nate's DUMB, just really dumb - when he called the prison who did he ask for? Was he asking around for Ben or was it bout Juliette's BS story bout teaching a class there?

Damn Jenny came back and left with a bang! And may have just re-united Blair and Chuck for us!

Of course Serena's being screwed around with - Juliette and the prof would be working together to screw over Serena.

Next week's episode looks really gOod! Blair and Chuck aha :)
