As soon as the dates were decided, maa got busy with the invitation list ... Mayank was working through home so Nupur decided to return to Aangan as she had to teach the children there .....

Mayank - Maa, aap kis kis ko bula rahi hai?
Maa - Dekh, meri kuch friends aur Aangan ke log aur humaari koi family to hai nahi to bas aur haan tere aur Nupur ke friends ... bas aur kaun?
Mayank - Hmm ... theeke ... mere office ke log bhi aayenge ....
Maa - Achi baat hai, acha ek kaam kar apne doston ki list dede ....
Mayank - Maa aaj ke liye bahut ho gaya .... sagaai agle mahine hai ... aaraam se sab ho jaayega ... aap thodi der aaraam karo ... chalo utho .....
Maa - Par ...
Mayank - Main kuch nahi sunne wala ... chalo ...
Mayank makes maa sleep and then calls his p.a ...

Mayank - Shrawan, mere table par jo red file hai wo aur Malhotras' ke project ki file ghar bhej do ...

Mayank was busy in studying the projects soon after .... there Nupur was busy in teaching all the kids ...

Akriti - Bas khatam kar rahi hun ...
Nupur - Chalo, tum log final touch do phir hum log dinner kar lenge ....
The next day, maa arrived to pick Nupur for shopping .... Nupur was busy in bidding bye to all the kids ....
Nupur - Arrey maa aap yahaan kya kar rahi hai? Aap ko aaraam karna chahiye na ....
Maa - Arrey main bahut aaraam kar rahi hun ... abhi tu taiyaar ho aur chal mere saath ...
Nupur (confused) - Kahaan?
Maa - Shopping karne baba .... Mayank humein wahin milega ...
Nupur (still not getting) - Shopping?
Maa softly hits Nupur ...
Maa - Arrey, sagaai ki baba ....
Nupur - Oh ....
Maa - Chal ja jaldi taiyaar hokar aa ...
Nupur - Hmm ....
Nupur went and wore a royal blue color anarkali suite and left her hair open .... Maa smiled as she saw Nupur coming ...
Maa - Bahut sundar lag rahi hai meri bachchi ...
Nupur blushed ...
Both reached the place wher they were supposed to meet Mayank ... Mayank was wearing a wheat color suit with a blue shirt ...
Mayank - Maa, aap logon ko itna time kyun laga?
Maa - Wo traffic tha na beta ...
Mayank - Acha ab chaliye phir mujhe ek meeting bhi attend karni hai ....
Three of them entered a bride and groom store ... Nupur was not used to shopping as she found it extremely boring ... Mayank too hated shopping specially for himself ...
Shopkeeper - Aaiye, kya dekhna chaahenge aap log?
Maa - Sagaai ke hisaab se lehenga aur chudidaar kurta ...
Shopkeeper - Ji bilkul, pehle main aapko lehenge dikha deta hun ....
The shopkeeper showed a dark blue and red combination with heavy stonework lehenga ... Maa loved it but Nupur was hesitant as it was too gaudy even Mayank didn't like it but he just sat beside Nupur silently .... Maa had made Nupur sit in the middle for the obvious reasons ... then they saw a dark green and maroon combination with heavy zardozi work ...which again faced a rejection by Nupur ....
Nupur - Bhaiya, thode simple dikhaaiye ... ye bahut bhare hue hain ..
Shopkeeper - Arre behenji, aaj kal aise hi chalte hai ...
Mayank (irritated) - Haan par humein nahi chaahiye waise ... aap jaisa ye keh rahi hain waisa dikhaaiye ....
Maa was on cloud 9 after hearing Mayank ... Nupur too let her lips curve for a fraction of a second ...
Shopkeeper - Acha ji ... main leke aata hun ....
He started showing some pastel colors .... which were strongly opposed by maa ... shopkeeper was getting very confused about what to show ....
Nupur - Bhaiya, wo wala dikhaaiye ....
Shopkeeper (huge grin) - Ji ....
He showed a beautiful white, silver and lilac combination lehenga ... the choli was of white color which wold reveal her waist ... a white color lehenga which on top had silver handwoven work .... and at broad border which started from the knees again hand woven silver work ... and the dupatta was lilac crape one full with silver work on it ... it looked stunning yet very elegant ..... just the one she wanted .... Mayank too was happy with her choice but didn't say anything ... Maa too was glad with her choice ....
Maa - Ye to bahut sundar hai, pehle nahi dikhana chahiye tha ...
Mayank - Maa ab dikha diya na ....
Maa - Beta zara lagakar dikha to ...
Nupur - Ji ....
Nupur took the dupatta on her shoulder ...
Maa - Mayank, kaisa lag raha hai?
Mayank - Hmm .. acha hai ...
Maa - Tujhe pasand nahi aaya kya?
Mayank - Nahi maa, ye sabse acha hai ...
Maa smiled ...
Shopkeeper - Fitting ki to koi problem nahi hogi kyunki inka regular size hai ....
Maa - Chalo acha hai ... jhanjhat chhooti ...
Mayank - Acha, ise pack kara dijiye ....
Shopkeeper - Chaliye main ab aapko chudidaar kurta dikha deta hun ....
Maa - Haan chaliye ...
He showed some grey and brown kurtas which were opposed by maa but liked by Mayank ... later he showed a maroon kurta with golden work .. Maa loved it but Mayank and Nupur were not satisfied ...
Mayank - Bhaiya, aise color nahi chaahiye ...
Maa - Arrey par problem kya hai beta?
Nupur - Maa ... ye bahut heavy nahi hai ...
Mayank - Haan aur kitna odd lagega ... ladki itne elegant dress mein aur ladka aise dark aur gaudy kurte mein ...
Maa - Acha theeke, Nupur tu choose kar ... iski choice bahut bekaar hai ...
Nupur saw a black band-gala with black lining work on it which gave it a royal look but at the same time endorsed simplicity ....
Nupur - Uhm ... maa ye kaisa rahega?
Maa - Ye to bahut acha hai aur tumhaare lehenge ke saath contrast rahega .. haina Mayank?
Mayank - Hmm .... perfect .... main try karke dekhta hun ....
He tried and it looked perfect on him .....
Shopkeeper - Bahut acha laga raha hai ....
Maa - Hmm .... kyun Nupur?
Nupur - Hmm ... bahut acha hai ....
Maa - Chalo bhaiya ye bhi pack kar do ...
Mayank - Maa main payment karke aata hun .... ho gayi shopping?
Maa - Mayyu, angoothi aur Nupur ki jewellery ....
Mayank - Maa, Mayank ... theeke aap log rukiye main aata hun ....
Three of them then moved to the jewelery store ....
Maa - Sagaai ki anguthiyaan ...
Lady - Ji ma'am ahm ... gold, silver ya diamond ....
Mayank - Diamond ....
Lady - Sir, ye humara special collection hai ... stackable, crown, prong, double love knot and specialty ye hai ki with diamond it is white gold ... elegant, simple all together ....
Mayank - Hmm ... aap inhe dikhaaiye ...
Nupur didn't like the heavy ones and her search ended on a very simple and elegant ring where the the white gold holder was tied in a knot and had two diamonds for additional sparkle ....
Nupur - Maa .... ye ....
Maa - Bahut sundar hai .... haina Mayank ...
Mayank - Hmm ...
Maa - Ab zara inke liye dikhaaiye ...
Mayank liked the channel set diamond ring which was simple and yet had a royal shine to it ....
After all the shopping ... Mayank went back to office and maa dropped Nupur to Aangan ...
Maa - Hmm ... dono ki pasand to ek jaisi hai ... bas thoda samay lagega aur dono ek dusre mein ghul-mil jaayenge ....
Slowly maa's health was worsening ... Mayank and Nupur together were doing everything that would make maa happy and ignore what was coming ... but one thing was not changing and that was the equation between them ... they still were strangers ....
Night before engagement
It was 10:00 AM .... as usual Nupur was sitting on the window pane thinking about the day that was coming .... her engagement ... so many dreams she had about this day but now she didn't feel anything about it except fear and nervousness ... there was no sign of excitement or happiness or anything else .... just then her phone rang .... it was an unknown number ....
Nupur - Is waqt kiska phone hai aur ye kiska number hai?
She picked the phone ....
Nupur - Hello ...
Mayank - Hello, Nupur .... Mayank bol raha hun ...
Nupur - Mayankji ... aap ....aapko mera number kahaan se mila?
Mayank - Maa ke phone se .... Nupur mujhe tumse baat karni hai ... kya hum abhi mil sakte hai ....
Nupur - Abhi ... itni raat ko ... kal baat nahi ho sakti? Kuch zaroori hai?
Mayank - Nahi, theek hai ... kal engagement ke baad baat kar lenge ....
Nupur - Hmm ... good night ...
Mayank - Good night ....
Engagement Day
The ceremony was held in the morning in a beautiful garden, outside the city ..... the garden was decorated with white flowers and the gazebo under which the rings were to be exchanged was decorated white white curtains and white flowers draped over it .... all the guests had arrived ... Mayank an Maa were standing in the gazebo .... as slowly on the white petals walked in Nupur with all the kids accompanying her .....
She slowly walked towards the gazebo ... their eyes met ans immediately they shifted their gaze ... and the ceremony began ....
For the first time they were going to touch each other ... both were hesitant ... Mayank softly held her hand ... both were shivering and slowly he slipped the ring on her finger ..... later she slipped the ring on his finger ... immediately they left each others' hands and were standing together for the photographs ....
After the ceremony at 9:30 PM ... Nupur called Mayank ... he was in his favorite place ... bandstand ... he saw her name flashing and picked up the phone ...
Mayank - Haan Nupur bolo ...
Nupur - Ahm ... aapko baat karni thi na ...
Mayank - Hmm ... main tumhe lene aata hun ...
Nupur - Theeke ...
He was wearing a baby pink shirt and a black trouser ... he reached Aangan in 15 minutes .... she came out in a baby blue suite .... he opened the door for her as she sat inside .... both were quiet and in 10 minutes reached bandstand ... as usual no one was there .....
Both sat near each other in silence, gazing at the sea ..... her hair were blowing and were covering her face as the clouds cover the moon .... she slowly removed them and decided to break the silence ....
Nupur - Aapko, kya baat karni thi?
Mayank - Nupur, hum dono jaante hai ki hum ye shaadi kyun kar rahe hain ....
Nupur - Hmmm ....
Mayank - Hum ek bahut bada jua khelne ja rahe hain ... main shaadi ya pyaar mein vishwaas nahi rakhta ..
Nupur looked at him in disbelief ... and again stared at the sea ....
Nupur - Mayankji, shaadi koi khel nahi hai .... do zindagiyaan hamesha ke liye ek dusre se jud jaati hain ....
Mayank - Jaanta hun .... aur ye bhi samajhta hun ki shaadi ke tumhaare liye kya maayne hai ...
Main bas ye jaanna chaahta hun ki kya tum kisi aur se pyaar karti ho ...
Nupur got the second shock ....
Nupur - Ye aap kya keh rahe hain?
Mayank - Tum galat mat samjho ..... main jaanta hun, maa ke liye tum ye sab kar rahi ho par main nahi chaahta ki tum apni poori zindagi barbaad kar do ...
Nupur - Matlab?
Mayank - Har ladki ek sapna dekhti hai, apne rajkumar vagerah ka, tumne bhi kai sapne dekhe honge par apne se 8 saal bade aadmi se shaadi karke kya tumhaare sapne poore honge?
Nupur - Mayankji meri zindagi mein rajkumar kabhi nahi tha .... main aam ladki hun, aam insaan se shaadi karna chaahti ...thi ... aap mujhe itna bataaiye ki ye ghuma fira ke aap kaunsi (looked at him ) baat kehna chaahte hai?
Mayank (smiled) - Nupur, main bas tumhaari khushi chaahta hun ... tum ek bahut achi ladki ho ...
Nupur - Aap fikr mat kijiye .... maine apni zindagi (pointing at the sky) uske havaale kar di hai ... ab use sochna hai meri zindagi ke liye ... agar usne socha hai to sahi hi socha hoga .....
Mayank (nodded) - Theeke, to hum apni kismat ko ek mauka dete hai aur dekhte hai kya hota hai ... theeke?
Nupur (smiled) - Hmm ....
Mayank - Haan ek aur baat mujhe Mayankji mat kehna .. pehel hi 8 saal bada hun, ye sunkar aisa lagta hai jaise tumse 20 saal bada hun ...
Nupur whole heartedly laughed accompanied by Mayank ... after a long time both were laughing like that ....
Nupur - To naam se bulaaun ....
Mayank - Haan warna main bhi Nupurji kahunga ....
Nupur gave her 1000-watt smile and agreed to call him by his name ... Mayank too flashed his dimples ....
Both sat there looking at the sea and thinking of where their lives are taking them .... they didn't say anything else just shared the silence ... a new life awaited .....
