LONDON: The 'moon-walking' shoes and trademark hat that Michael Jackson wore at the famous 2001 Madison Square concert fetched 22,800 pounds (Rs
15.37 lakh) at an auction here.

The items crossed the presale estimates of 10,000-12,000 pounds at Bonhams auction of Entertainment
Memorabilia in Knightsbridge yesterday.

Jackson's hat and shoes, worn for the TV special, 'Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration', 2001, comprises a black fedora, inside band with star's name in gilt lettering, and a pair of black leather loafers by Sebago, the sole of each signed and inscribed 'Rock My World Billie Jean' in black marker by him in two display cases.

The Madison Square concerts took place over two days and finished the night before 9/11 and they were watched by nearly 44 million people. The show sold out in five hours.

Other Jackson memorabilia that sold at the auction included a 'Dangerous' tour crew jacket (504 pounds), an autographed copy of the double album 'Live' by The Jacksons (1,320 pounds), a stage-worn fedora and concert items (3,600 pounds), an autographed white fedora (5,400 pounds) and a puppet (3,360 pounds) from the irreverent 80s show 'Spitting Image'.
