SPECIAL SQUAD CHIEF DEAD
ACP AARYAN KHANNA NO MORE
Police force's elite branch, Special Squad suffered a major blow with the death of the Chief, Aaryan Khanna. He was injured in the shootout involving the infamous Anna Kadtus gang and was shifted to Jeevan Hospital this Tuesday from Anandi Hospital, Nashik. The bullet wound proved fatal and he succumbed to grievous stomach injuries last night. No details regarding the shootout have been released due to the pending inquiries and the sensitive nature of the case. Reports say that Khanna was given a very private burial by his friend and not even his team was informed regarding this. Ms Deepika Ghosh has succeeded Khanna as the Chief of Special Squad.

Everyone was seated at the table. Deepika was standing near Aaryan's chair, hair hiding her face, silent. Even though two months had passed no one had been able to get over their grief. Ajay was holding Neha and Shotgun and Boxer were looking down at the table....
Deepika: Toh...
Her voice shook and her legs gave way as she clutched the chair for support. Concerned eyes turned towards her... Deepika was badly shocked... When she was thinking of a new phase in her life, a storm had blown over leaving only bits and pieces... But she suddenly stood straight... Drawing inspiration from what she had promised... to herself ... to him... She would not allow special squad to crumble so easily... No she won't.... The concerned eyes relaxed a bit... But Deepika did not notice that a new pair of eyes had fixed themselves on her...
Deepika: Toh... Aaj hum ek naye shuruwat karne jaa rahe hai... I expect all of you to do your best... I am sure woh... (Her voice faltered....)
Boxer :( sadly...) Yahi chahta hoga hai na....? (Looking at her)
She nodded slowly....
Deepika: (now with a level voice) Maine aap logon ko yahaan isliye bulaya hai ki.... Special Squad me nayi addition ho rahi hai... (Picking up the file in front of her....) Naam hai...
Voice: "Rituparna Kulkarni... (Everybody craned their necks to look at the source of this voice) kaam- wahi jo Deepikaji ne bataya Special Squad me naya....hoon...Specialisation in- field investigations aur is suhane avsar se Chief Investigating Officer. Thank you for your kind attention...."
Deepika was surprised at his abrupt and surprising entry. Short and to the point. But he had not asked for introductions' "Lagta hai theek tarah se homework karke aaya hai", she thought.
Ajay stared at the new Investigation officer thoughtfully, "Hmm' Kulkarni' Marathi asava'."
Boxer: Kya?
Ajay: Kuch nahi yaar'Chodo na'
Deepika narrowed her eyes as she observed the disappearing back of the guy... Around 5.6 and clad in jeans and a t-shirt, he sported a beard and he had glasses'...Comparing him to Aaryan, she thought, "Aaryan jaisa naa koi hai, na kabhi milega'"...Tears started welling in her brown eyes. Composing she nodded at the others and started for the cabin...
She faltered at the entrance' He was sitting on Aaryan's desk his legs on the table, and looking at the things around him with a pleased expression'She was about to tell him off when she realized that now he rightfully owned the place' But the place in her heart' Would anyone be able to fill that void?
She went over to her desk and sat down looking at the man sitting opposite to her' Where once Aaryan used to sit. She remembered his ways' his peculiar smile' his coffee' his passion ' and a smile lit her lips but it did not reach her eyes'..
Rituparna observed the woman sitting in front of him.
The way she had entered' he was sure'hopeful that she would tell him off but she did not'
His eyes manifested themselves upon hers' the brown eyes spoke of pain' of some deep pain that kept her awake in the nights' Guilty, he suddenly looked down. His eyes went to the glass shelf and to his disbelief the shelf was empty'..
Rituparna: Yahan ke photos kahan hai Deepikaji?
Deepika: (surprised) woh'yahan' (She indicated her drawer) Kyun?
Rituparna: Who kuch nahi' sirf'.Woh main isi drawer main rakhna chata hoon'
Deepika: Ji dekhiye' Aap who photos wahan kyun rakhna chahte hai'? Aapko '?
Her voice trailed off'
Rituparna: (wildly) Jee who main previous owner aur usse jude aapke sentiments ko nahi dukhana chahta'
Deepika stared at him frowning'. "Weird'." She thought'.
Rituparna sat at his desk which had previously belonged to Aaryan, looking around at the office. He smiled and contemplated on the business at hand, his chocolate eyes darting out and in turn at Deepika. She had started typing away on her laptop trying to ignore the crushed fragments of her heart in the haze of work'. In her mind she made a note to do a background check on this person'.
"Hmmm'"
"Jee?" Deepika looked up'
"Main poochna chahta tha ki pichle do mahinon se cases kaise handle kiye jaa rahe hai?"
Deepika's face vanished behind the screen of her laptop'"Woh main hi dekh rahi thi' ' Upar se mujhe charge mila tha' so'"
Her voice trailed away'
An expression of shock and disbelief came on his face which was soon replaced by a wan smile'.
She was thinking about Aaryan, his voice, his movements, and the blissful moments they had shared'.
"Deepika'!"
She looked started at the interruption,
Rituparna said"Tumhara phone baj raha hai'"
Deepika: (She noted that now he had come from aap to tum')Ji'(on the phone) Kahan yes, right away'(Gets up and stands in the door) Naya case hai'
Rituparna nodded and got up. Pausing for a fraction, his hand slipped in his drawer and he put something in his pocket' Deepika's sharp eyes noticed this on the reflection on the glass door and she whired around looking at Rituparna'. He smiled winningly and hurried past he' She was left at the door, looking at the team.
