In a shocking incident, veteran actress Deepti Naval has been receiving threats from a hacker who has threatened to leak her internet browsing history if she fails to pay her a ransom of Rs. 4 lakhs.

The actress has filed a police complaint at the Versova Police Station, Mumbai after she received a threatening email which contained her username and password.

In repeated attempts, her hackers have been asking her to pay them a ransom of $5,600 in bitcoin which is nearly Rs 3.9 lakh within 24 hours. In the mails, her hackers have stated that they have videos of her browsing certain websites. She was said that if she fails to pay the amount then her browsing history would be made public.

Sharing her ordeal with TOI, Deepti said that she has been told by the police that it was a trash mail and that she should ignore it.

Mumbai Cyber Crime Cell officer, Balsingh Rajput too revealed to the leading daily that similar e-mails have been sent to many other people and that he has received calls from more than ten people in the last few days who have similar complaints.
