New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS) Tata Sky is set to air Oscar favourite 'Slumdog Millionaire' and claims it has the required permission to show the English version that has got an A-certificate.

'It's only after the permission and the necessary paperwork that the English version of the film is being made available to the DTH (Direct-To-Home) audience. We will also give a statutory warning before the film to warn audiences about the content. The service also offers a child lock facility,' Vikram Mehra, chief marketing officer, Tata Sky, told IANS.

When asked who gave the firm permission to air the film, he refused to name the body.

Based on Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup's novel 'Q & A', 'Slumdog Millionaire' tells the story of a slum boy who wins a quiz show.

The film was made in English and latter dubbed in Hindi for the Indian audiences. While the English version has an A certificate, the Hindi one has been given an U/A certificate.

A source from the Central Board of Film Certification said that the language in the English version is abusive in some parts, the reason for its adult certification. But that aspect is toned down in the Hindi version, that's why it has got an U/A certificate in India, the source added.

Both the versions of the film will be available on the DTH service from Feb 20 onwards.

'Slumdog…' is an outstanding film that has been acclaimed by critics and viewers from across the globe. The premiere of this mega blockbuster on our platform will offer all subscribers the complete movie experience that they can watch and enjoy multiple times with their loved ones,' said Mehra.
