No one can actually stop time from waving its wondrous hands. One day we are young and thriving and before we know it, the bones become weaker, the body becomes fragile and the wrinkles on the face appear out of nowhere. In short, age starts showing its true colors. And when you are an actor in the glamour industry, one sure short way to survive is to openly adapt to changes and play the roles more suitable to the ages. But amidst all that, there's one lady who, for more than past two decades, has been portraying the role of a mother for which she has always gained applause. That lady is none other than Reema Lagoo.
Reema
Lagoo started her acting career in the early 1980s. Though most of her
roles have been of supporting ones, they are forever etched in the minds
of fans as she has always been an integral part of many blockbuster
movies. Starting from the evergreen tragic love story, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which created vibes of sensation in its day, to the more recent unforgettable flick Kal Ho Na Ho,
Reema Lagoo has always played the role of a mother with such finesse
that it's hard to imagine the movie without her. Be it the doting,
supporting mother to Salman Khan in the romantic saga Maine Pyaar Kiya
or the mother torn between the selfish love for her legitimate son and
the natural love she felt for her adoptive son in the family drama Hum Saath Saath Hain, Reema Lagoo's roles have always been memorable.
But that doesn't mean she was always the typecast for family oriented mothers. For who can forget the Sanjay Dutt's classic Vaastav
which created a rage and made Sanjay Dutt a phenomenon as a gangster.
Reema played Sanjay Dutt's mother in the movie but here her character's
love for her son was treated in an astounding way for to save her son,
she ends up killing him with her own hands. Needless to say, this is one
script end which can't be ignored as Reema Lagoo was nominated for the
Best Actress in Supporting Role at the prestigious Filmfare for her role
in Vaastav.
It just goes on to prove
that not every actress has to be the clad-in-white saree kind of a girl,
running around the trees singing songs to be recognized as a star. If
the comfort of playing the roles, suiting the age and personality is
there with the dedication to shine even in the most supporting of roles,
then anyone can be regarded as a shining gem among many in the star
studded industry of Bollywood. And Reema Lagoo has done just that.
With her dedication to her work and the perfect finesse with which she portrayed different kinds of on-screen mothers in the past decades of Bollywood, she has earned a name and respect for herself which no one can compare to. She has made her name go down in the Bollywood history for being one of the finest on-screen mothers. BollyCurry gives this amazing lady a salute full of reverence and gratitude!
