is round the corner and Shobhana Desai
’s popular show on Star Plus “Hamari Devrani”
will celebrate the festival in a grand affair this Friday.
Since the story revolves around a Gujarati family and the main protagonist Bhakti considers Bal Gopal as her friend, the cast and crew decides to rejoice this day by making it special!!
A Palna (cradle) was created along with a small statue of the "Balgopal" placed inside the cradle. The house was decorated to welcome the lord and butter, Krishna's favorite was offered along with Kirtans in praise of the God. Following the customs, Chappan Bhog (56 varities of sweets) prasad was also offered to Bal Gopal.
As the Nanavatis are upbeat about the impending Janmashtami celebrations and decide to spring a surprise to Bhakti by bringing back Mohan
on the very day from Baroda, the jethanis deliberately try to keep Bhakti and Mohan
apart on the day of the celebrations. They meet Mohan
on the sly at Baroda and tell him that the brothers would call him home on Janmashtami and enquire about the accounts of the factory. They innocently tell him that they have spent a substantial sum from the company’s account for charity…and all hell would break loose if the brothers had a whiff of what they had done….Mohan
empathizes with their plight and decides to be away on Janmasthami.
We caught up with an upbeat Bhakti
, played by Krishna Gokhani,
the ardent devotee of Laddu Gopal who was busy preparing for the big event. “This is my first Janmashtami after my marriage and I asked permission to celebrate it. Since morning I have been cleaning the entire house, have decorated the temple and did all preparations by myself”, quips Krishna.
When quizzed about her celebrations in real life, she quipped, “Our family gets together to celebrate this festival. We have loads of fun”. On asking how this track will proceed in the show, she answered, "My Sister-in-law has sent my husband to Baroda for some work but I want him to be with me to celebrate. Whether he will be back to celebrate with me, is something viewers have to watch out for”.
We also asked Madhav
, who plays the role of Mohan
about the celebrations. “I am away from home, but Bhakti wishes to be with me so that we both can celebrate together. But, the climax is that I reach home at the right moment when Krishna Janam takes place”, quips Madhav. We wish Mohan and Bhakti and the Nanavatis, Very Happy Janmashtami.
