Talking about the same he says, "I started shooting for this show the very next day after the Rajshri show Jhilmil... got over. I play Arjun Bijlani
's elder brother who is married since 5 years. My wife is played by Gungun Uprari
and we are a happy go lucky couple, very close to Arjun & Shweta Gulati
. My wife is shown to be an excellent cook whereas I am cannot cook. In the show I am a Prestige dealer who gifts Prestige appliances only for all occasions. Even Arjun cannot cook so whenever he gets stuck somewhere he calls me or my wife for rescue. I am a senior so he takes tips from me in terms of romance, cooking and everything and since I am the big bro I advise as well as pull his leg too."
Rakesh is happy with the role and says, "The comedy factor, magical moments, helping each other, new shaadi of my younger brother I am enjoying it all."
In real life too Rakesh stays far away from the kitchen, "I can feed myself and I can cook things like omelet, tea, coffee, boiled egg, Maggi. I have never cooked anything else apart from this for myself or for anyone else." Even his pretty wife Sunaina has just started taking interest in cooking after quitting her job and having a baby. "Sunaina is just learning cooking now that she has quit the job due to our baby. This is the first time in my life that I get mere biwi ke haath ka khana kabhi kabhi. She makes very good mutton and chicken and now I guess she will take tips from this show too and it will teach her how to cook."
The show's drama combined with a cooking format interests him so much that he feels it will influence him in real life too, "On the show it is definitely interesting. I and my wife Sunaina are not the cooking types but this show is about the bonding between a husband and wife while cooking so maybe we too will get inspired after we gel with the settings."
More than anything else, Rakesh is happy that he has got a chance to do comedy, "I have been doing negative for so many months so it is good to do a comedy. Earlier since I had always done comedy all my life I wanted to do something anti-comedy for a long time so I did Jhilmil... and now I get a chance to do something light. I desperately wanted to do a SAB TV
show so what better timing other than this?"
However, Rakesh who was last year seen in the Bigg Boss 6 house as a guest to support his elder brother Rajev Paul
is not open to doing a reality show and says, "It is not we who can decide on doing any reality show... if it is a dance show then let me tell you that I am a very bad dancer. I can't dance to save my life. If you think Rajeev was bad I am worst! In fact Sunaina is a very good dancer and we were even offered Nach Baliye couple of times but I thought if we get out of the first episode itself I don't want to insult myself on a national level. All channels will look at high TRPs and they decide everything. I believe that at the right time right things will happen."
Till then Rakesh is happy with what he is doing, "Till then I will be doing one show at a time. At the most I might do a family drama since I want to complete the circle of comedy, negative and drama but it has to be something which will excite me a lot."
