He's the baddie in Bade Achche Lagte Hain while he's playing a polar positive character in Parichay. On the hot seat this Diwali is the versatile and talented Mahesh Shetty.

You have played both negative and positive characters. But currently we are seeing a positive side of you in Parichay. Which is more difficult the positive or the negative?

As an actor for me every aspect of acting is a challenging job. Mostly its on how iI make my viewers believe –whether it's a negative or a positive role. I have had many experiences when people who have actually come and told me how much they hate me because of my negative character in the serial and on the other hand they appreciate me for my positive role. So this alone proves that I am doing justice for my work.

Many viewers feel that you will be turning negative in Parichay as well. Is this true?

I want to tell my fans that my character in Parichay will not really be turning negative. I will be the sweet and calm Abhay but fighting or you can say turning negative for an emotional purpose. This Diwali shall hopefully be about the positive.

What are the challenges of being an actor who has played both positive and negative characters?

The biggest challenge for an actor is how you make your viewers believe in your acting. Make it more natural and believable is what I work towards. One role that is most closest to your heart from all the characters you have played. My role as Nihal in Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil was the most challenging and the best role that I have played till date. I loved the character of Nihal as he was a very sorted and down to earth person. Yet there was a challenge in playing Nihal as he was such a simple individual.

One wish this Diwali...

I have a list of directors whom I would love to work with but lets keep the names underwraps until this wish comes true. One change that you would like to bring in for this Diwali? Inner as well as worldly change. I would like this world to be a better place to live in - pollution free, corruption free and no evil. And yes I plan to work towards these aspects myself as well.

If you were devastated and a kid comes into your life... you make the kid your sole purpose of existence and parent him and give him all the love in the world just like you would give to your own kid and then suddenly one day his soo called real parents wake up and threaten to take him away... wouldn't u do anything and everything in your power to save and keep your kid with you???

I don't think its BLACK... Its called real human emotions which the actor is portraying brilliantly!!!!

We used to love the show and OUR beautiful couple.Thanks to Abhay and the creatives,we don't have it anymore,or we could say that it's as good as no more.Watching one good old classic scenes of Kunal and Sidhi at the end of the day was good enough even though the story was going pathetic.Now,I can't even do that,knowing that there is no Kunal and Sidhi.

Mahesh Shetty is doing his job,i know.But doesn't the actor have some choice to voice out his opinion when the story goes horrible?? I just can't understand why things have to be so mutilated to get high voltage drama!!!!

You all successfully destroyed a once beautiful show.Shame on the creative head who approves all these insane story lines.What life must they be having to have this kind of attitude!!

@imurfansir - I understand you are big fan. trust me when I say we don't hate him because he plays his part so well. there is another character Richa whom we hate not because actress plays it well. The character itself creeps us out.

about no drama wihtout such characters, well I hear many shows are doing damn well without complete negative characters.

@Parichay Fans - You all are talking about a positive diwali but dont think u r realising that you guys are making your diwali negative urslef by writing such negativity and getting personal about actors. If it wasnt for actors like him, our shows would have had no drama and would have become boring and would have left us with no reason to watch them and i think its high time we all understand this and start respecting this.

@Silambu - You should refrain from using such language on a public forum and stop using words like scumbag.

Why cant anyone here appreciate a good actor for his acting skills? You guys are hating him soo much only caz he is playing his character soo well !!!!!!!
