Bollywood and cricket are
said to be the two religions of India. Bollywood
celebrities and cricketers have had an interesting association – be it in terms
of the matters of the heart (Neena Gupta-Vivian Richards/Sangeeta Bijlani, Mohammad Azharuddin
to name a few), endorsements or films. While Sri Lankan cricket star, Sanath
Jayasuriya got a chance to shake his leg on Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 5 - Dancing with
the stars and Andrew Symonds made a special entry in Bigg Boss' previous
season, now we hear that UTV Motion Pictures is persuading Australian
cricketer, Shaun Tait to make his debut in Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Chhe. The
film will mark the television star, Sushant Singh Rajput's big screen debut and
also stars Amit Sadh and Amrita Puri. Indian bowler Ashish Nehra is already in
the film, playing coach to Rajput's character of a "cricket enthusiast".
Apparently it was on his behest that the makers decided to cast Tait in the
The film, based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller, The Three Mistakes of my Life, is set against the backdrop of the popular and much loved game of cricket, and so that explains the producers' interest in having Tait on board.
Manish Hariprasad, Creative Director, Studios, Disney-UTV, confirms the news saying, "Abhishek wanted a well-known international fast bowler for the climax. Abhishek's good friend Ashish put us in touch with Shaun. We're in discussions with him, and hope to have him on board soon."
