The TRP's of the episodes
of Teri Meri Love Stories are hovering around 1 or are below 1. The buzz is
that producers end up spending more on telefilms as they want higher production
values but don't end up making money from it.
We asked a few producers whose telefilms had been
telecast on Teri Meri Love Stories about the economic aspect. They however
wished not to comment on this commercial aspect but did give their opinion on
why the telefilms were fetching low TRP.
Rajan Shahi of Director's Kut said, "I would not
like to comment on the economics of telefilms as that is between me and the
channel. I would however like to say that telefilms have a fresh and innovative
presentation. It will take time for telefilms to pick up. We should experiment
instead of going by the safe tried and tested route. We shouldn't have just
daily soaps and reality shows. We need to look beyond that. It is too early to
jump to the conclusion that telefilms have failed to appeal to the audience by
judging the performance of the initial weeks."
Neeraj Sachdeva of Shontara Productions too
was tight-lipped on the commercial aspect of losses and gains. He explained,
"When I made my telefilm for Teri Meri Love Stories I didn't want to be
calculative in terms of money. About the not-so-high TRPs of the telefilms, let
me say that one episode was pitched against the DID finale. Yet another
episode was pitched against the Jhalak Dikhla Jaa episode with Salman Khan and
Katrina. We have strong shows on Colors, Zee and Sony also going on at the same
time. The popularity of telefilms isn't dying down. In fact I think the
popularity will pick up soon."
Myleeta Aga, General Manager of BBC Worldwide
Productions India told us crisply, "I don't know much about the commercial
aspect. I think it will take some time till the viewer gets used to this new
concept. Getting viewership on weekends is anyway difficult as families go out."

Dear Readers,
avis' one got highest trps.. the show just rocked
i like this new concept...through this fans can see their fav..and i think all fans are happy by seeing their fav..all beautiful people are in these stories.especially boys..they all are so charming till then ...
the boy which was in the story in which boss, punjabi girl and NRI boy, that boy was so so so charming.
ya they should be longer...one story should be in two days..
I love this concept and I don't want it to end because of the number drama. What irritates me is that the already very short film was further shortened by half hour. THATS JUST NOT FAIR. I DEMAND THAT THEY SHOW ONE TELEFILM ON SATURDAY AS WELL AS SUNDAY, SO ATLEAST WE HAVE A STORY AT A REGULAR PACE AND IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE WE ARE SEEKING SOME NICE STORY IN FAST FORWARD MODE!!!!!
I think the indian audience is used to watching daily soaps that's why thwy will only watch that never ending bakwaas. I Like tmls..it's short sweet and simple. I like the mix match and to be honest you don't see same people over again in american shows either. Anyways I hope the TRPs improve and it's a good attempt can't say great..but definitely Indian tv directors should learn from Pak shows as to how to project stories ..you don't need glam and all that to make audience appeal to you. Trust me tmls is thousand times better then typical shows so I'm not complaining.
I love worlds alll love stories... thoda hi...jhhootaa hi sahi...pyaar hona chahiye bas... Great going TMLS...STARPlus
I think there is too many songs etc for the short time period - therefore the story suffers - and also there needs to be a variance - it has become routine
--> two people meet, fall in love, have and issue, realise, confess, happily ever after
we need some sort of variance, I wouldn't mind seeing an incomplete love story - keeps the interest level up.
and story lines need to be meatier - the amount of actual story can be wrapped up in less than half the time, which makes it boring to a certain extent.
But I'm still enjoying it :)
Agree with masin, seeing same couple just for love of fans is too much dosage, give fresh couples, so far i liked all couples, my fav are simran - raghu and Kareena-Aryan...
Avoid songs and dances on them and work little more on script ... show will rock
Exactly mismatch of jodis ,is the reason of low trps, trps wont increase in future also ,bc SP is not listenining to veiwers choice, demand of favs jodis like Hiten n Gauri ..:) why cant SP listen to viewers request thats the reason of these trps,n in 1.0 these also consider low trps if they have taken famous jodis then trps would cross 2 diff but they dont want to listen .
the only reason is the mismatch of jodies like everyone said...
they shud cast jodies like ksg and shilpa or mayb barun and sanaya...
then the TRP's would rock the sky!!!
