Herd mentality has been very common on television as trends become repeated, followed and copied. If one thing works, then every show has to follow it! Take the example of the recent overhyped consummation scene in Bade Acche Laggte Hai! Before you know it, every show is following the trend showing bolder scenes along the same lines. If Akshara's miscarriage leads to higher TRP's, then other actresses too are seen having miscarriages in their show.
Rajan Shahi:
Following safe patterns does happen because in today's time of instability people want to play safe bets, sometime different shows give you critical acclaim but no TRP, so lot of shows are rehash of some other hit show!
Aatish Kapadia: Herd mentality is a trend and this trend has been followed widely, it is an age old tradition from cinema itself. It takes few pioneer to come up with a total new concept and use their own talent and innovation. Risk taking should come from both ends-the producer and the audiences!
Jd Majethia:
Herd Mentality is a version of trend which is followed from the cinema times. everyone likes to follow the way to success, infact stands the only aim for the producer. so following a particular trend stands on harm neither given the word Repetition, taking into consideration what the population actually wants! Genres work is seen only where there is inspiration to come up with new, and when such minds work out they become trend!
Palki:Herd mentality is largely followed for the reason trends, as trends are the one which are ruling the country! Producers and Directors believe very much in following trends rather than come up with new experiments. nothing either is wrong following these trends when it is the one which leads to success keeping in mind whether it pleases the audience and working out in the industry! and following herd mentality at an end stands safe to be followed to by the producers!

Dear Readers,
It's funny that the vampire show Pyaar Kii..is notin this list! I believe it was the first on Indian Television.
What matters ultimately is a tight script, good performances. Trendsetting is good to give some freshness. Sarabhai versus Sarabhai
Jassi Jaisi, SGP are trendsetters while Balika
Vadhu has combined
everything nicely. Not to forget
Astitva Ek Prem Kahani and
Saans. Left Right Left was also
a very good trendsetter.
I wonder why JD did not want to mention SGP. Jealousy?

The saas bahu serials starts with a remarkable TRP but eventually it falls down. Its all saas bahu Crap after all. same old thing repeats in each and everyone of it. The only difference is the actors. People like new and fresh stories. Like IPKKND, EHMBH, D3. I think the producer should come up with new concepts. Even bolly wood is making different films. Early, it was all romantic, family drama movies, now things are changing. Movies like ZNMD, Rockstar were loved by the audience. The perspective of this generation is different. Its changing. I feel, its high time, that the producers adapt these changes.
all the shows are the same-Saas Bahu Saazish..
JD made nice shows-Sarabhai,Khichdi,Baa Bahoo baby.Remix,Crime Patrol,SGP were good in the recent times...sadly all shows start of fresh and then for the greed of Trps all of them slide and become the same show with the bahu crying, straying husband and saas giving taana, some baseless villlan creating misunderstandings...all the top shows on Tv will have one of these tracks for sure
its disappointing to even get hooked on a show because at one point of time you will get disappointed as all the shows ultimately go in the same direction

Comon producers, you are having great medium in your hands, do some projects which will educate people at the same time entertain also. Sarabhai, Dekh Bhai Dekh, ye jo hai jindagi , Rajani, so many shows different but created lifetime impact. DO COME OUT FROM SAAS BAHU, rather show the great understanding between the families. WE HAVE TO TAKE INDIAN MENTALITY TO A GREAT LEVEL.
They all started with UNIQUE concept & then only join the herd ... lol. What a joke.
JJKN was definitely a trendsetter and spawned many copycats...but even if you take inspiration from the concept, there is a scope to do something original with it. MaahiWay, the YRF show was similar to JJKN in that the heroine was not conventionally pretty and had her office woes but the treatment was very different from JJKN.
The shows should be of con sized number of episodes running for just a year or a season which could be 8 to 10 months and this builds up audience and then take a break and bring in newer dimensions...In the west shows work like that and they show good potential, and too many rigorous shows on television, Viewers are left with no choice and seems redundant..The television board should endorse some rules to offer veriety and no more than two shows going on the similar concept across the channels..There are many shows in pipeline and many actors waiting for their shows to be launched.. Starplus has so many shows in pipeline but its a pity that the new shows are not getting a chance maybe one of those shows may be having some unique concept than what they are showing..
Or any other channel for that matter.
Wish this whole style changes and survey is done as to what the viewers would like to see in each season..
Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, Remix, Sasural Genda Phool, Baa Bahu Aur Baby-Season 2, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai
