New Delhi, Jan 1 (IANS) It could not have been a better start in 2012 for Shipra Khanna from Shimla who Sunday night walked away with the title of 'MasterChef' in the second season of the cooking reality show 'MasterChef India'.
The 29-year-old single mother beat Joseph Rozario from Siliguri and Salma Shazia Fathima from Bengaluru to win the show that started off with 12 contestants.
The grand finale was telecast over Saturday and Sunday with actor Akshay Kumar once again returning to the show as a guest judge for both the episodes. Joseph Rozario was eliminated in Saturday's episode.
Sunday's final battle saw the last two finalists -- Salma Shazia and Shipra -- preparing dishes for 100 people, who through their votes declared the latter as the winner.
She won a cash prize of Rs.1 crore, a chance to host her own show on Star Plus and a vacation for three nights and four days in London.
The runners-up contestants were not disappointed either.
Salma Shazia was presented a cash prize of Rs.10 lakh, which she decided to share with ex-contestants Vijaylaxmi and Rajendra Narayan, while Joseph was given a job at the Radisson hotel.
The judges' panel for the second season of the reality show included chef Kunal Kapoor">Kunal Kapoor and chef Ajay Chopra from the previous season, while Michlen star chef Vikas Khanna stepped into the shoes of Akshay Kumar as the third judge.

PS: even shazia was deserving equally for this but no regrets just like she said...Shazia's never let go attitude rocks ...
PS: Joseph got a job at Rennaisance and not Radison lolzzz...

I wanted Shazia to win but I'm happy for Shipra she deserved it too. I thought Joseph got a job in Renaissance hotel not Radison or maybe I didn't hear it properly but I'm sure it said Renaissance..Oh well happy for all of them. :)

@kasucrazy, lady or man, whover you are, ad you opened up your ears, ud have realized she broke down n cried like a baby wen her name ws announced. @ddco003, speak only we u knw, Shipra had prepared the best dish in Boot camp, the judges said that they couldn be as innovative, n she dint have to use teh chilly in teh dessert as a complusory factor, she had get the taste of chilly n she did it, but the sweet has so amazing that the chilly lost its flavor, n nt knwin the temp to bak somethin is nt called immaturity, she asked the judges, they told her, the matter ends ther, baking the dish n gettin the taste was the matter here, the tandoori masala was indeed an innovation, i doubt u cud come up wit somethig lik tht, n let me tel u, she made several more dishes than the other contestnats in the Banana test, she cudn qualify jus coz o under done chicken n thts y she cried, nt to get emotional support n teh dessert she prepared gt enuf praises
