Kapil Nirmal popularly known as Yudhishtir of Star Plus' Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat will be seen in a new avtar in Imagine TV's new show Pardes Mein Mila Koi Apna

He entered into the television industry as the elegant and the royal Kunwar Yudhishtir with the popular show Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat. But what if the Prince turns into the most notorious person in the area? Surprised?

In this space, Kapil discusses about his interesting role and look in the new show...

Can you tell us something about your character?
The character has a grey shade who is completely outspoken and has his own way of making a name in the society. He loves his mother and younger brother but at the same time has a friction with his father. He wants to take care of his family, but the ways of making his living is not so acceptable with the family.

This is your comeback in television after a long break; what took you so long?
For Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat we had continuously worked for nearly three years and after that several shows were offered to me. But all the roles were of the same kind with the royal and decent look, which had restricted me to take it up. Also I was in a vacation mood wherein I met a lot of people and fortunately or unfortunately, the break was good.

What was the reason that you took up Pardes?
When the show was first narrated to me with Sarje Rao's character sketch, I felt that somewhere down the lane I was waiting for such a role which was a little bit different from the lead, but I cannot say how different, because there are a lot of shows on television now, and at times the characters also resemble each other. But then the character I am playing is of a Marathi boy who speaks a language which I do not know. I am staying in Mumbai and I knew that there will be a lot to learn from this character from the way he talks to his mom, fight swith his father and the amount of love he has for his brother and several other similar things. It was interesting to learn a new language and I feel that since I am staying in Mumbai I should know the language. And I think this is going to help me a lot.

Have you had special sessions for Marathi?
Not really, but nowadays I am watching Marathi movies and channels and in the initial stage I have to understand the language to gradually get the hold of it. By the grace of God, actors who play my mother and father belong to the theater and have years of experience and I think it is going to help me a lot.

How do you feel about your different look?
In my previous show I had to wear suits because the character demanded it and I had a little problem during summer. But now, I don't think such a problem will arise in this show because I can take off the shirt whenever I want (laughs). The look is really casual and I really didn't have to do anything about my hair because I just had to grow it and let it loose, in a completely messy way.

What have been the reactions of your fans?
There are a few who I am in touch with and they have appreciated me for the new look and the work, but at the same time they criticize too when needed. Hence I think they will like it.

Why did you opt a show on Imagine TV?
There is a challenge in it because as an actor we have the main effort to perform really well and when the work is doing well and the show is recognized, it will be a credit as actors too. It also tells us how good we are and also gives us a chance to learn about the aspects where we have to improve.

This is the first time that Reliance Big Productions is venturing into production, how has been the experience working with them?
Reliance is one brand that is there everywhere in India and they have already ventured into media with their radio station and also films. And now we are hoping that we do shine in television too and we are just praying.

What is your opinion about the 10:30pm slot?
I feel that the best time for a daily is between 9 and 10; the rest depends on the shows because Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat was in the 8 pm slot which was really early for office goers who cannot reach home by then. Today there are shows that do well even in the 7 and 7:30 slot. Our slot is 10:30; I just hope we do well in the slot.

Was it tough to transport yourself from Yudhishtir to Sarjerao?
What I have noticed in television is that people expect you to appear in one role opposite one girl. And sometimes it so happens that the fans are not ready to accept the person in any other role, but as actors we have to take up various challenges. Initially it was a little tough. But today there are actors who do different roles in different shows and people have started accepting them. So I am just wishing they accept this too.

People are still demanding the hit pair of Kapil and Anjali Abrol; what would you like to say to your fans?
We both would like to work together and there is no doubt about it but then it is the final decision of the Production and most importantly the channel.

Will there be a girl opposite to you in the show?
I cannot comment on that.

Are there any plans of you to take up more reality shows?
It is awesome to be a part of reality shows because it provides you a break from the normal life of the actors, a chance to meet different people and also make big money (laughs).

Are there any plans to step into Bollywood?
I have been in touch with several people and it will happen one day and there was one pipeline but it did not happen because there were certain internal issues.

Chaos on sets of Apno ke liye Geeta ka Dharmyudh.. It's not Atif, but Ali to sing the title track of Chhoti Bahu..
