voluntarily quits Bigg Boss' house leaving the final three to battle it out for the coveted title. In an exclusive interview, Rahul shares his experience being in the house and much more. He also clears the air about his relation with the two women, Payal and Monica.
Why did you voluntarily leave Bigg Boss' house?
I quit in the interest of my friends. After what happened last Saturday, it was pretty clear that one of the 4 remaining people had to leave. Bigg Boss had already started the nomination process. I felt that the others, specially Ashutosh, whom I consider as a younger brother, needed the prize money more than me. He does not even own a house and I promised to give him shelter if he does not win and I intend to stand by my word.
But he did win a substantial cash prize when he won MTV Roadies, didn't he?
Yes, but the prize money was a meager amount of 1.5 lacs. He unfortunately lost his dad while participating in roadies. He owns a dhaba and earns just about Rs. 200 per day. So I definitely feel he is in more need than me.
Why did you not apologize for your actions?
Why should I? I still stand by the statement I made that whatever we did was on an impulse. It was never intentional. I might not repeat it but that does not mean I was wrong the first time either. It is very easy to pass comments by just seeing what we do on television. We did not actually try to run away. All we wanted was food, and we even tried Gandhigiri for that, but to no avail.
You think you have chances of making it thru' the wild card?
There isn't the remotest possibility that I will make it thru' the wild card.
Why did you choose to do Bigg Boss?
People have always had lot of misconceptions about me. They thought I was another Manu Sharma. I wanted to give them a chance to see the real me and only then make a judgment about me. Another thing that I would like to add here is, love me or hate me, but you can't ignore me. I was never here for the money. In fact I clearly mentioned that if I did ever win, I would donate the money to some charity. I am glad I did this show as now the whole world has seen two sides to me. The natkhat Rahul that I was in the beginning of the show and the mature responsible guy who sacrifices for the well being of others in the later stage of the game.
Bigg Boss has seen people with extreme emotions. Who do you think is the most black?
Every person has good or bad qualities. Who am I to judge anybody when I know I have them too.
What did you learn from living in Bigg Boss' house?
It was a total learning experience for me. The most important thing Bigg Boss' house taught was how to live in harmony with different people in spite of all the differences and difficulties. I learned how to cook, wash my clothes, and even clean the washroom. I can do domestic budgeting as I have a fair idea of the price of commodities used regularly in the kitchen.
There is a lot of talk revolving around your interaction with Payal Rohatgi
and Monica Bedi
, especially the massage given.
Well I was just being naughty at that time. The massage was supposed to be fun. At first Zulfi was supposed to do it, then Ehsaan ji. And then it finally came to me. I did not do anything wrong, but if the public felt offended, then I apologize for it. Having said that, I would also like to add that I am answerable to no one except my family. And they haven't said anything. Rather, my mum says she is proud of me.
It has also been said that Payal is unhappy with your equation with Monica. Your comments.
Well, I just spoke to her this morning and she did not mention any such thing to me.
So were you doing everything just for the sake of publicity?
No way. Why would I do it for publicity? I am always on page 1 and never on page 3.
Can you come clean with your equation with the above two women?
Both are my very good friends. As you know, Payal and I go a long way back. And when I became friends with Monica, I did not consider her past.
There is speculation that all reality shows are rigged. So was Bigg Boss rigged too?
Bigg Boss is a completely real show. If it was rigged would I have worn a face mask or colored my hair grey at the most critical moments. I am not that silly.
So, what's next for Rahul?
I want to focus on my entertainment company. I might even take up acting, if any good offers come along my way.
What about politics?
I consider politics to be a means of serving the society and not making money. But if I do enter the field, then there is no turning back after that. I will not change my look and wear the same shirt and jeans.
You had numerous arguments with Raja Chaudhary, yet he cried when you quit.
Well, you only fight and hurt the people you care the most for. When I was quitting, the ambiance was too emotional. It takes a lot for guys like Ashutosh and Raja to break down. And Raja was not a bad guy. For instance, when he threw water on Sambhavana's bed, everyone made a hue and cry about it. But it wasn't like he did something bad. He just threw water, not set her ablaze with fire.
